    DISCLAIMER: I don't recommend deep conditioning your locs until they're mature!!!! If your locs aren't fully loced, please don't deep condition. It'll slow the locing process of your beautiful locs, unraveling them and causing potential slippage; that would cost you so much money and time to resolve!! I am only able to do this because my sisterlocks are mature (I have had mine for 10 years). ♥️♥️♥️

      Thank you so much for this disclaimer. I've had mine in going on 2years, and I wasn't whether or not to do the deep conditioning, because I noticed that my locs and scalp seem dry. I guess wait just a bit more then. And you locs looks gorgeous.

    Right on time! I was just thinking to condition my locs for the first time since I've had them. My hair was extremely dry before, but now my hair is super soft. I experienced no slippage or build up. I can see myself doing this once a month or so. I wash my hair 1-2 times per week with just shampoo, following up with olive oil. So I don't use other products, but the regular shampoos dried out my hair after nearly 4 years of no products nor conditioner.

      Jennifer I’m similar! I wash my hair about 1-2 a week depending on how active I am. I don’t use a lot of shampoo as it is drying. But I immediately put my favorite oils in my scalp and I’m moisturized for the week ahead!

    A cheap alternative is to use the Herbal Essence hello hydration conditioner or the Shea moisture Superfruit Conditioner mask and let them sit for at least 20 minutes to 45 minutes. Instant softness and restoration.

    Thanks for this video. Do you think a hot oil treatment along with deep conditioning would be too much?

    • @ImaniGoodridge
      @ImaniGoodridge  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Kaylah Aries Glad you liked it! And I think it would be. Sisterlocks truly don’t need a lot of product to be nice and healthy. So if you were going to do a hot oil treatment, don’t put more oil on your scalp for at least a week. Similar to the deep conditioning treatment, I wouldn’t recommend doing a hot oil treatment more than once a month 😊

    Hey, a year later was wondering do you still recommend deep conditioning your locs ? Did you get build up ?

    • @ImaniGoodridge
      @ImaniGoodridge  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I've been deep conditioning my hair bi-annually for about 6 years now. I've never experienced build up. If you're experiencing build up, 1) switch your product. Or the more likely option 2) you're not washing the product out of your hair completely.

    • @ImaniGoodridge
      @ImaniGoodridge  5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Whittney Wiley Thank you! And honestly, no I don’t experience that problem. My inkling would be that if someone is experiencing build up from conditioner is that they are using too much product or not fully washing it out. Also, potentially try a different product that does adhere to the locs!
