- This video teaches you how to use Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Lane Tracing on a Lexus with Lexus Safety System+ 3.0. Currently this system is offered on the Lexus NX, Lexus NX Hybrid, Lexus NX Hybrid+ and all new 2023 RX models.
If you have an older Lexus equipped with Lexus Safety Sense, you can watch this older how-to video I made about these systems here:

Thank you for this video. Our Lexus dealer gave us a 2025 NX 250 loaner with no user manual and only instructions on how to start, put in drive/reverse, and shutoff. We were completely clueless about the adaptive cruise mode. Great video!
I have a 2024 RX 350 bought two months ago, but until I watch your instruction today, I was very confused of which button does what on the right side of my steering wheel. Thank you for your great contribution. Lexus should pay you for your free teaching to their car buyers! The “experts” at their dealership could not do a better job than you did!
I wished there were a test course I could use to test out the ACC. I'm very wary of using it because I'd have to use it on public roads where I may end up crashing the car or something.
I bought a NX used and i was very confused about that adaptive cruise control. Thanks for the great explanation! 👌🏾
I've been looking for a video to explain the cruise control on my 2025 nx 350h. This is the only one I could find that explains properly. Thank you so much great video
Me too! Ugh the nx 350h is nice, just got the premium yesterday
Very well explained. Thank you❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Got a 2024 Lexus GX 550, and couldn't figure this out at all. Thanks!
Very helpful thank you.
I encountered a situation which I had not prepared for, so for 10 or 15 seconds I was speeding around a tight curve, a very uncomfortable and potentially dangerous situation.
I was in heavy traffic with the Cc set at 90 kph. I was in the left lane. The right lane became clear, so I changed into the right lane.
As I was changing I noted the speed limit dropped from 90 to 60 kph, at the beginning of a tight uphill turn. The sign was at the apex of the curve, so not prominent. Nor was there a warning of the change.
I was driving a RX350 F Sport, and had selected Sports Plus mode. The radar noted the clear road ahead, so accelerated to 90 kph. The acceleration was ferocious, and the feeling was like a roller coaster.
I focussed on staying in my lane, and could not touch the brake to shut down the CC. WHEEE! WOWEE! Glad the steering and suspension was tight, and not at all floaty or boaty.
When the road straightened I shut down CC.
Today I am revising the CC videos, as it was a very nasty surprise, and could have easily become a disaster. I have discussed the near accident with my wife, so it becomes a learning experience
I have vowed to be vigilant, actively looking for changes in the speed limits. The situation was a sudden change from rural, with no warning of a change in speed limit, as is usually the case. This is in Sydney Australia.
Exactly the type of scenario that has me avoiding using ACC.
Excellent video.
nicely done explanation: you keep emphasizing safety and control of the system!
Thanks so much for your video clip .😊
My pleasure 😊
Explained everything so well thanks
Have you been rear-ended by another car due to DRCC hard braking on traffic stops or cars suddenly cutting in front of you?
Can you use lane assist without using cruise control?
Great explanation
Thank you!!🎉
How does the optional traffic jam assist relate or integrate with the radar cruise control?
The traffic jam assist is optional, and if equipped it makes it so you don't have to hit "Resume" or the gas pedal as often in heavy stop-and-go traffic to get the car moving again after the DRCC brings the vehicle to a stop
Great video! I am just wondering how to change from regular cruise control mode to adaptive WHILE driving the 2024 NX350h? When I press the Cruise Cont. mode button while driving, the screen tells me that I can't use this feature while I am driving. I'd rather not use it in the town but yes on the highway. There has to be a way to enable and disable during operation. Any thoughts? Also, how do I turn off the automatic braking.... or is this part of the adaptive cruise control.. I am confused.
Didnt the new RXs have a touch sensitive wheel controls? how does one option physical buttons like this RX?
This was an RX 350 Premium + model. There were no touch sensitive controls on the steering wheel
Thanks for the video. Lexus' owners manual isn't very clear on this.
If a car tries to merge into the lane of this car and doesn't check the blindspot, will the Lexus brake to avoid collission?
My car resumes ( accelerates) speed too slowly. Can I adjust this?
Thank you for a concise description of this feature. Will this be the same on the RZ450e?
If you mean RX450h, yes as long as it’s a 2023 model or newer
I recently purchased a 2014 LS500. The adaptive cruise control works beautifully with one exception. I keep getting the red steering wheel on my HUD telling me to put my hands on the wheel, even though my hands are on the wheel.. I tried different postitions to place my hands, even squeezing the wheel. It still comes on and is driving me crazy. I went to my Lexus dealer and talked with the technolgy guy and was told he would investigate. Do I have a bad connection to the steering wheel? Have you heard of this problem?
Squeezing the wheel is not usually what puts pressure on it, it’s moving the wheel slightly (like when you make a small correction in steering) that lets the system know you still have your hands on it. Try making minor steering corrections more often and see if that helps.
"Here's the Toyota Tacoma driver they're always the classiest people in the world" 🤣
Hi i just got a 2024 Lexus NX350...I am not using the dynamic cruise control...but it automatically stops when you are in a stop light when a car is in front of me. The problem is the braking is too early, how do I change that?
Look up "Changing the pre-collision setting" in your owners manual. Set it to "Later"
Somehow my system did turn off and I need to know how to turn the dynamic radar mode on again.
Push the button on the upper right that says “Mode” with the picture of the speedometer on it
I wonder weather Lexus can be upgraded to FSD like Tesla without upgrading its hardware?
Very doubtful, and I would not advise anyone to try this on their own.
how do you turn the dynamic off and just use the car accelerator and brakes
Just don’t turn the Dynamic Cruise on in the first place. If you activate it by accident somehow, just hit the brake pedal to turn it off.
ACC, DRCC , Lane Tracing? I find them too confusing and potentially dangerous. I'll stick with old fashoned cruise control until the day of totally automated vehicles might do it for me. Being age 79, that's VERY unlikely to happen to me. They've made vehicles TOO techy IMO. Much too much for the Moms & Pops. Even dealer salesmen don't understand much of what's in them.
Not a very good salesperson then.
How do I turn it off ??? I cannot figure it out. Help pls
Just hit the brakes!
This is very similar to my Tesla model Y which mine is called basic auto pilot. Mine will also navigate on any correctly marked highway and will also not obey traffic lights and signs - have to manually take over.
In your video, the thing about these driver assist features is using them along with the very "impatient human" drivers on the roads. If we don't move right away, they honk their horns and get all flustered because we didn't move for a few seconds or waited for something in front of us. I have no idea why they are in such a big hurry to go nowhere or get to the next stop light and slam on their brakes.
This Lexus might be one step up on what Tesla is doing with the radar in your vehicle. Tesla is trying to do driver assists by using just multiple cameras, no radar. I wonder if the radar in the Lexus solves the "phantom braking" issue that Tesla's get with only camera usages?
Anyway, thanks for the video on the Lexus vehicle.
I have not experienced "phantom braking" in the couple of Lexus models or in the Toyota models with safety sense 3.0 that I have driven recently. I will also add that I've done probably 50,000 miles in various Subaru models that rely solely on cameras for their adaptive cruise and safety systems, and rarely if ever experienced it with them either
Is there any reason to still have the „old“ cruise control? I don’t see it, it’s just dangerous if you have the new adaptive cc
I haven't been able to find a way to do that in the instruction manual
Personal opinion. I don’t like the car steering for me.
@@rustynail7866 Adaptive cruise control has NOTHING to do with the steering. It’s just the car holding the set distance between the other car. If it gets slower yours get slower too.
Lane Tracing is another point you could turn off no matter the ACC
@@minka25 “lane tracing is cut off in my 24 Lexus and the car will steer around a curve on its on when in adaptive cruise. That’s all I know.
Prefer Lane Keeping Assist to the new name. Never use the ACC on city streets, highway/freeway only.
IT'S A GREAT SYSTEM....HEADS UP IS COOL....VERY RELAXING ON LONG TRIPS, BUT PAY ATTENTION TO THE ROAD
lol @ the Tacoma. Typical socal drivers! Hey, at least he used his signal however.
How do i get into since up Navigation System my car is Lexus ES SPORT LUXURY 2022
Your ES has an older version of Lexus Safety System so it may function differently from the one in the video
...but how does it do on an unprotected left turn in the city? Tesla can.
Having driven Teslas with both Autopilot and full self drive, Tesla can. Sometimes. Other times it just kinda drives by if it doesn't feel like making the turn lol
My Lexus LS is a 2024, not a 2014.
It's that simple...dealership didn't explain it at all and said it's always on??????????
That's why I make TH-cam Videos!
👍👍👍
Why do they have regular cruise control? One can accidentally turn it and think they have adaptive cc. Dangerous
Some people want the option. Not me though, I'm all adaptive all the time
Next video you should do on a self driving car like Tesla Tesla full self driving is it will take to the destination by itself without your hands on the wheel for a few minutes not seconds so I hope to Will show a Tesla FSD beta than rather only the aid systems
IT CANNOT BE TURNED OFF!!!!!!
I'm not understanding your question. If you don't want the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control on, just don't push the button to activate it.
@@CarDietrichyou can it can be turned off in the video. They’re saying it cannot be turned off
So I type in cruise control and this video pops up and you say we’re not talking about that one rt now. Ya couldn’t show a quick how-to on the normal CC?
