One thing I learned about doing this recently. ...If you're putting a new tank, you obviously don't have any gas in there. When you go to start up the new tank, make sure you put at least 6 gallons of gas or more in the tank. I 3-4 and the truck wouldn't start. I thought I had a bad fuel pump. It was driving me crazy. Then someone told me I didn't have enough gas to prime everything. And that did it.
*_.....For those wondering how to hook your new pump up(with the weird wire colors)...Here's what I did a few days ago...This also presumably nobody's been there before and "dinked" up anything.. Take out your new pump...Take out the old pump, hopefully its still factory, not somebody's f-upped one...Look at/orientate the two pumps side by side...Underneath the cover plates, you will see which wire goes to where...4 connections....One wire on top will be the Common ground for the cover plate...One will go to the sender/float assy...2 will be red and black...Going to the pump...Nevermind what colors up top...Under the cover plate connections is the key...Whatever colors the factory or the aftermarket manufacturer used, hook up your wires based on where it goes - UNDER- the cover plate...Cover plate is what the Locking ring holds...It's 10,000 factory wire colors out there...Depends on if the guy was drunk that day, used Whatever colors he could see, what day the trk was assembled, what version of the trk...F-150, 250, 350, ...4.9, 5.0, 5.8 Diesel, Extra Cab, Standard cab, Long bed, short bed, or no bed...or the wire bundle ran out that day, and the Line Leader had to go to Lowe's and Home Depot and buy whatever they had in stock...Who knows...It's a "Ford thang", I guess....Mines is working great....Used "Delphi Brand" from another online reseller....No probs so far...Took me over 12 hrs to install coz that "Filler neck hose" is evil and a few other thangs that were blocking the tank from going back in...And, It's Summertime in Texas...Blazing Hot 🔥 🔥🔥🔥🔥 by 8 am and no help and "Flatbacking" on the Concrete...So yeah, Lovely conditions...But... We got it done....Now, to the front pump...Don't have a Lift...So, both tanks need to be dropped using a Floor jack and Soda Crate fabbed up together....Cheers...._*
Great video, I think there should be a gasket between the strap and the tank maybe a small piece of rubber or something. These straps might have had them there. You just can’t see them.
Bit of a tip on those fuel lines. If you're struggling to get them disconnected, especially considering the tight space you're working in under there, try this: Take out your fuel line tool. Find some slack in the hoses. Even a quarter inch will do. Push the hose and the connector together. This is because inside of the connector are barbs that snap into place when you connect the hose. Because you're trying to pull them apart, the barbs are going to easily get stuck behind the lip of the male end. Just push them together, and when you re-insert your fuel line tool, you'll actually feel it push against the barbs this time. It will still take a bit of technique, but i went from struggling with pliers to disconnecting both hoses bare-handed with the worst possible version of the fuel line tool Auto Zone had on offer.
😒😒🙄🙄.... Have to do both fuel pumps as soon as they arrive on the delivery trks....Would be nice to have a Lift and that neat jack assy....Looks like somebody fabbed it up just for jobs like this....
I've done a lot of those stupid spring clip Ford fuel lines which is the dumbest goddamn thing they ever came up with and they never come undone that easy

This job is so much harder laying in the dirt .. 😫
That frame is not okay lol
I appreciate the fact you did this on a rust bucket. Most can relate to this.

There is a lot to be said for the frame condition in this tutorial. No where is it that easy
Bravo, I love to watch you. The ease and calmness as you work is something many don't have. It's always great to learn. Thanks for the video.

This was great. Well done, not even one curse word. I don't think I could do that. Now I know what is there and where the pieces go. Thanks again!
+@user-dy4hs4tg8e Thanks for watching our video! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
I hope the next repair is on the bluetooth shackle hanger and frame
Btw anyone watching in my experience 13mm nut and 15mm socket is standard
thank you for posting these videos.
Great video!
Doing this in a few days. Thanks for the great video. What size are the 4 bolts and nuts. I want to pick them up before I remove my tank
I hope this truck was just for demonstration purposes, that frame is gone.
I wouldn’t trust that truck on the hoist, frame could crumple
What kind of pivoting socket handle is that? 🤔
Never seen one before. Nice.
Boy, I hate working in a carrier truck like that one big rest bucket. Did you get your Tetness shot? Nice job
Gracias por la. Orientacion. Yo nececito cambiar. Mi bomba de gasolina. De. Mi ford. F 150. Añ0 93. 5.0
might as well just do a frame swap... thanks for the video though!

I have never. Ever. Had the budget to replace every part. That must be nice.
The filler tube is so hard to get on
Give your car "Rostumwandler Spray" (German) it will stop rust, I did it on my E150 1991

15 mil and 13 mil are factory bolt sizes
Wow I thought my truck was rusty.
Mine is showroom new. (In some places) 😊
thanks i needed this lol.

This all looks like junk to me… that frame is gone… that tank would be thrown out and completely replaced new hoses and all.
Replacing the tank on a truck that has no frame is crazy 😂
Great job for being a women. This a only a tutorial on how to do it. And for those who a laying on the grond, buy a lift if you know more 😂
