    This honestly could not have been any better of timing. I have to drop my gas tank because it leaks when I fill it up all the way so I’m going to be replacing it with everything you have there.

    @nofinesse7809 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Been thinking about tackling this project on my rig as well. What do you do with the fuel that gets drained from the tank? In my case, I believe the insides of both the front and rear tanks are corroding, so I don't want to save it in that state.
    Do people filter it and add it into the replacement tank(s)? Dispose of it? How?

    • @BroncosandPartsGarage
      @BroncosandPartsGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gas weighs about 6 pounds a gallon. So be careful. We siphon it out and use it in lawn mowers. Or take to recycling centers if it’s ever removed.

      @@BroncosandPartsGarage that’s helpful - the one difference I suppose in my case is that my truck is diesel. I can just reuse it in my tractor

    Question! Do you think a hole in the tank would cause a truck to stall out while driving? Or even possibly hesitate tl start or stay idling? Thank you in advance!

    • @BroncosandPartsGarage
      @BroncosandPartsGarage  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. When my tank was leaking I could only drive for 10-15 seconds before it would stall. And only run when pedal was on the floor. Made for fun trip at Orv park

    What are your thoughts on metal vs. plastic replacement tanks?

    • @BroncosandPartsGarage
      @BroncosandPartsGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Metal is good for another 25 years. Plastic is great too but pricier. Tough call. I’m making a video using a plastic front tank on this truck too.

    I have been looking for a way to do drop my tank without taking off the bed. I live in the rust belt and my bed is probably rusted solid to the frame at this point. I plan on capping off the fuel lines for the time being since my rear tank developed a pretty decent leak and I only drive my truck in town.

      This will work and allow you to assess morer damage under the truck. tanks are pretty cheap. Jeffs Bronco Graveyard sells them

    • @BroncosandPartsGarage
      @BroncosandPartsGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your Bronco will have a steel skid plate supporting the tank and straps on the top like the F-Series. Removing the fuel lines, vent tube and sending unit will be the same- with the exception of the fuel pump- which is in your Bronco tank. We have a bronco exclusive "tank" video coming out in a few weeks. Thanks for watching!

    This was really detailed and awesome but why not just remove the bed with the lift? It would've been way easier.

    • @BroncosandPartsGarage
      @BroncosandPartsGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We wanted to make it more an “everyman’s” most don’t have lists. Plus the filler tubes and bed bolts- on most fords in Midwest don’t come out easy.

    We desperately need someone to "OBS solutions" us a ready-made in tank pump for those of us who want to do the 38 gallon rear tank conversion.

    • @BroncosandPartsGarage
      @BroncosandPartsGarage  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Tanks are already 33 gal. Get larger tank, bend down float?!

    • @CR500R
      @CR500R 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @BroncosandPartsGarage The rear tank on the Bronco is 33 gallons, but not the F-Series. The trucks have a 19 gallon aft axle tank. (Otherwise the "38 gallon mod" would not be a thing to do to these trucks. See forums, and Several TH-cam videos) you can not retrofit the Bronco in-tank pump to work for the truck, because (most all) the trucks have a dual tank system, and the pumps have a different design. 😉 Trust me my man, I would have done this a decades ago on most if not all of the 10+ OBS F-Series trucks I've owned if it were simple. I just don't care for the ghetto pump modifications people have to do for gas powered F-Series when they do the "38 gallon mod." Hence my comment.
