Am replacing the tank on my '73 F-100. Thanks for the video, very helpful. I hope you post more, I"m just getting started and am TH-cam-ing my way through this rebuild. Awesome video.
Good Vid. I personally would have rust proofed the new tank and went with a new sending unit. Liked your procedure and the music was good also. Good job. Denis
The parts you saw in the bottom of the old tank was the filter that goes on the end of the sending unit that fell apart over the years. It would have been a good idea to clean the sending unit before installation. Good tip on the inner tube rubber!
Thank you for the video I’m putting one in my 76 ranger XLT and the pipes run over the rear end and straight out the back so it got in the way when trying to pull it out but now the problem is putting it back in with the hoses and navigating around the exhaust
Yep, it's a dirty job. Got a lead-tin coated tank last week from Advance delivered for $93 plus tax. This week it's $150 for the same tank. The Spectra sender was $23 delivered plus tax from eBay, it works. Don't forget to run that sender lock ring all the way home.
I just bought a '79 F-150 with a single rear tank. I've bought a new tank as well since the old one leaks. I did buy a new sending unit. But thanks for making this video because I wasnt sure how involved this was. I know I can do it, just have to do it.
Good video, good tips. I have to replace a rotted rear filler tube on my 77 f250 and wasn't sure if I wanted to lift the bed or drop the tank a bit. I may try dropping the tank now that you've shown what obstacles are in the way. Anyone else have any input or ideas for me??
When fitting up my sending unit to the new tank, I had to bend the two aligning tabs on the sending unit inward because of the amazing Chinese quality control. Be careful of that, took us a while to figure it out
When I go on filler neck supply Co, the filler hose is no longer there, do you know the dimensions of the one you bought and we’re I can get a new one.
On my 79, the Vent hose and filler tube are switched on the truck, but not the tank, and when I try putting the tank in, it just keeps catching on things and the hoses will not let it move very easily, and suggestions on how to go around this issue? Thanks Note: I was putting it in with the hoses already on the tank before install
Thanks so much for taking the time to help us out!! It is a great video!

Great job, being your in Minnesota and did this in shorts and a t-shirt, and only 2 seasons so must have been during road construction 😂.
Thanks so much friend! You make it look easy.

Nice truck
No tab bending, knock it around
Helpful information, thank you
I need my tank changed on my 76 truck. Any recommendations in central California?

Sorry, no suggestions. I remember mine kinda sucked to put in. Good luck!
@@minnesotamotors dang lol thanks tho
Whereabouts in MN are you located? I'm on the Eastern Border of ND and recently got a 77 F-150 from a family member.
Sending unit is literally 30bux….. should just get a new one if you bought the new tank for just under 200
Makes me ill😂
You didn't secure the retainer ring on the sending unit. The three upward slope nodes should have gone under the tabs to compress the gasket.
You may be sorry you did not replace the sending unit. Why no assembly grease? Prevent the future rust.
What size is the hose for the sending unit
Is your truck the highboy version with the shortened frame
No, it’s a 2wd long bed
you should have splurged on a new sending unit!
You did alright buddy
Why bro look like freed diesel
Rhino line the gas tank
