No word yet as to where it is going. other than Malaysia. It is supposedly built to standard allowing it to enter 89 different markets. Australia would be a good bet though.
BYD has led many areas early in this lower price point. It also has a vehicle or in some cases multiple vehicles in each segment. The pure number of new energy vehicles they have at affordable prices is insane. I'd say one of BYD's greatest strengths is also partially a weakness. BYD has massive vertical integration, using its own companies to build nearly all the components it uses. But for example, when the Yuan Plus was launched BYD at that time didn't have its own HUD, so the Yuan Plus nor the Han EV (for example) at that time had no HUD. Once BYD produced its own HUD, then all of a sudden every BYD vehicle seemed to have a HUD. BYD is generally going upmarket. Starting from BYD main brand then producing more expensive brands with higher grade tech. For Geely although they've had cheaper new energy brands like Geometry (now defunct) and Geely Auto main brand (reduced NEVs under this brand in favour of pure NEV brands), Geely has had more expensive NEV, including pure EV brands for longer than BYD, Zeekr for example. So they have been able to trickle down from those higher brands.
There is no AWD version. And the no larger battery at this moment. It's made to it a price point in China. We'll have to see what they do with export models
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And people having variety in their tastes means that car design is not boring. If everyone liked the same thing everything would be identical.
It's a compact SUV. So it's not that little really. I know I refer to it several times as this "little SUV" Guess I've been driving too many full sized 3-row SUVs and 5+m long MPVs! This is basically Audi Q5 size. Which doesn't exist really in China as the domestically produced Audi Q5L is a bit bigger edit: also i'm pretty short...
@@ChinaDriven i am 170cm or 5ft 7 as well LOL in other videos, the car looks small, however in this video, i can make sense of the actual size. i have been wondering why they say its a C segment SUV, now i know why, its actually quite big.

@@ChinaDrivenWhoa! Are you sure? That is a lot heavier than the Atto 3 and heavier than a Model Y - which is a much bigger car. Where's that weight advantage with the batteries gone?
but if we look at they price is quite close to the jaecoo j7 that is also the premium suv c segmen that also good to have ,china is amazing they the only asia country that can make spuper modern car and not so expensive like europe car ,they tech also more about emision like ev phev and else
The battery sizes are almost identical so how does the E5 have more range? Also why are you quoting the Chinese ranges which bear absolutely zero relationship with reality. At the very least we should be quoting WLTP. I just think that this game of one-upmanship has more do to with marketing than anything in the real world. When you showed the shot accelerating off the line you could see the front wheels spin- a traction problem that plagues the Atto 3 as well.
Low rolling resistance tires coupled with 300+NM of torque will cause wheel spin for sure. It's common amongst many FWD EVs with this much torque. There isn't a WLTP range given. So can only quote the figures that are available. Rough conversion estimates between CLTC and WTLP don't really hold water. The CLTC is generally much more consistent than the older NEDC, although in some circumstances NEDC figures were closer to WTLP. But generally you'll see between 75-85% of the quoted CTLC, depending how you drive. Lots of highway and expressway the range will be lower. The problem with CTLC is that it has a stronger focus on urban driving, stop start traffic. Which in China makes sense. But for me, in my mind i just compare CTLC of Car A to CLTC of car B. Rather then using it as a real measurement of range. evdb.nz/wltp#:~:text=cycle%20(CLTC).-,CLTC%20vs.,phase%20that%20the%20WLTP%20has).
The E5 has a much better efficiency rating than the Atto 3. And as mentioned in the video the Geely AGEIS battery cells are more energy dense then the current BYD Blade batteries. These two things together make a difference.
Galaxy and Xpeng do not have the same market positioning, nor the same price point. Doesn't make sense to compare them. You wouldn't compare a Rolls Royce to a Ford.

Budget car , pleasant interior ish . But but , the outside is plain ugly dull and uninspiring. If it had been 2017 released model you sir might have had a better chance of wooing a few ladies with 2 to 3 small kids . The atto 3 is in its 3 rd year and like it or not has better exterior. Byd only have to tweek the byd atto bonnet , needs better sculpuring and even a pair of moody air duct grils to make it more meaty or agressive and sharpen the rear lights to clear lens also make bonnet and boot light bar a little wider . Byd atto need to get heated steering wheel , lumber support and a recliner on rear seats . Other tweaks would then be longer range and cut out 4 ways to do the same function ( overkill) while upgrading software . It would then keep its spot as a fast selling EV and the new galaxy wouldnt even be mentioned in the same breath.
You got an Atto 3? Look it moves like this. The Yuan plus is a few years old. And we all expect that there will be an update at some point. But I’m sorry to inform you, the interior quality of the Geely is superior. The exterior looks as i mentioned are a bit meh. But they are inoffensive. A second generation BYD Yuan plus with upgraded features is possible. BYD now have their own HUD and here own massage seats. But BYD might just try to make the Yuan Plus/Atto3 cheaper.
Driven plenty. It's just a typical FWD SUV. Nothing particularly to say about it other then, it drives like a FWD car. Maybe I could have added the word "typical" in there.
If you want more depth. It will understeer if pushed, not helped by low rolling resistance tires. The 320Nm will 100% result in wheel spin if you mash the throttle, again not helped by the tires. I simply meant it's what you would expect from a FWD SUV. Though I admit I could have gone into more depth. But really for this segment as I said not many care about the driving dynamics. It rides comfortably, and you aren't going to fall off the road going around a corner at a fair pace.
This is not a race car so the specs, interior space fits a family use nicely. That's what 90% of population needs. It has more than sufficient power for overtaking & hill climb. The ride height is good without worry of the bottom scaping road bumps or going over potholes unlike if you're driving a Tesla or BYD Seal.
Too much cheap talk on interriors and all that good looking garbage usually hides problems in the powertrain. How bad is the thermal management of the battery? How inneficient (in real world, not the bull announced specs) is the car when compared to a RWD Model Y?
great efficiency. you can read up about Geely new 11 in 1 drive unit. decreasing overall space components take up and increasing efficiency. you can also read up about their new LFP short blade battery “Aegis.” They have videos of its thermal runaway tests. Newsflash it’s LFP so thermal runaway isn’t much of an issue as with NMC batteries. Model Y claims somewhere from 4-5mi/kWh as far as I can find. Galaxy E5 claims 5.1-5.2mi/kWh As for the interior, it’s a good interior. since you spend your time there, you’d be surprised how many people think this is important.

No word yet as to where it is going. other than Malaysia. It is supposedly built to standard allowing it to enter 89 different markets.
Australia would be a good bet though.
Yes. Already spotted testing there
Strange that BYD is the industry leader given other brands seem to get much more things right than them
BYD has led many areas early in this lower price point.
May I know real-world range in China condition?
ofc varies based on so many factors. driving style. speed. temperature. but general rule of thumb 70-80% if the CTLC range
Is there a AWD version with bigger battery? Maybe 80kwh…
There is no AWD version. And the no larger battery at this moment. It's made to it a price point in China. We'll have to see what they do with export models
Wonder if I fit in it with being 198 cm tall
look at me inside and add 28cm hahaha.
Numbers might favor the Galaxy; but the Yuan Plus is a way better looking car IMHO
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And people having variety in their tastes means that car design is not boring. If everyone liked the same thing everything would be identical.
This has to rebranded as Smart in Europe.
I don't think it would be rebranded as a smart unfortunately. Smart has taken a more premium price point
Perfect car… maybe more RANGE? But other than that it is a perfect family car !!! ❤❤
Nice car
Better in every department? Certainly not a better exterior style over the Atto3. Good review, you have another subscriber 😊
Thanks for the sub! some may prefer the Atto 3 exterior styling
it looks quite big in this video
It's a compact SUV. So it's not that little really. I know I refer to it several times as this "little SUV" Guess I've been driving too many full sized 3-row SUVs and 5+m long MPVs!
This is basically Audi Q5 size. Which doesn't exist really in China as the domestically produced Audi Q5L is a bit bigger
edit: also i'm pretty short...
@@ChinaDriven i am 170cm or 5ft 7 as well LOL in other videos, the car looks small, however in this video, i can make sense of the actual size. i have been wondering why they say its a C segment SUV, now i know why, its actually quite big.
Problem is in China this is classed as "B-segment" or "Compact" but it's right at the top of that class. 2.76m wheelbase is the top and this is 2.75m.
When I shoot videos I have the camera shoot straight on to try to give a more realistic perspective.

Right on😁 Your videos are always high-quality, I wish we could get some of these cars in the USA, I would love to own a Nio ET5 Touring! You and Kyle Connor are my favorite EV reviewers
Thanks! It would be great if the USA actually allowed these EVs to compete there. It would kick the EV industry in the US up the butt to actually take things seriously!
Kyle is a great reviewer.
Does it have a frunk?
@@mauricemcmahon536 it does not. Although there may be aftermarket accessories later to create one around the free space.
How heavy is It?
@@ChinaDriven 1615-1740K, 2028-2140kg for full load.
@@ChinaDrivenWhoa! Are you sure? That is a lot heavier than the Atto 3 and heavier than a Model Y - which is a much bigger car. Where's that weight advantage with the batteries gone?
@@mondotv4216No. I wrote the wrong number. That was Max load. It’s between 1616kg-1740kg
@@ChinaDriven Ah - makes more sense now.
but if we look at they price is quite close to the jaecoo j7 that is also the premium suv c segmen that also good to have ,china is amazing they the only asia country that can make spuper modern car and not so expensive like europe car ,they tech also more about emision like ev phev and else
BETTER DESIGN THAN BYD
These two things together make a difference.
now samsung made an electric car ?
And does it overpasses Xpeng Motors in anyway? I am sure it will not as Xpeng Motors is far better than even Zeekr!
Galaxy and Xpeng do not have the same market positioning, nor the same price point. Doesn't make sense to compare them. You wouldn't compare a Rolls Royce to a Ford.
Samsung Galaxy E5!?!?!

GEELY MADE PROTON CARS BETTER NOWADAYS.
I'm confused... Is this car about 7 ft high or am I watching some Lord of The Rings special effects?
I'm not so tall, as I said in the video. But the perspective and where I'm standing around 5:48 in the video make the car look massive in comparison.

‘It drives like any other front wheel drive.‘ Maybe try a few different FWD’s before you say such nonsense. 😅
BYD 10 kg more

Galaxy E5 claims 5.1-5.2mi/kWh
As for the interior, it’s a good interior. since you spend your time there, you’d be surprised how many people think this is important.
When you compare it to the Model Y, have you considered how much it will cost?
First time watching a car review, huh?
Get model Y o lower down the price than talk.
You are not a good presenter of electric cars, you are not credible in your work in short pants.
Well since it was like 37c I'll stick with shorts. If that means my words are "less credible" to you so be it.

To replace part after accident for EV are very expensive...very expensive since the front facia lots of light n sensor
@@muhamadhisyambahari3270 many petrol and diesel cars have radar for adaptive cruise control and milliwave radar and cameras for parking sensors. What additional sensors are you talking about?
