Not sure why are there so many negative comments about this car. The exterior design is ok, leaning a bit more on the sober side than on the eccentric look some EVs have nowadays. Software is nice, especially for the price range. Interior looks spacious and comfortable. Good battery and motor specs to go along. Sure, it's nothing groundbreaking, but I feel like its a good car for its price. Certainly better than the ID.4 and it's software that looks like it's from the 2000s like almost all western infotainment systems.
It is a package that an awful lot of people will like, especially if some of the price is transferred to other markets. I like the range, weight, soft suspension, dimensions and price. It looks a bit Meh, like a tucson ( which sell very well ) and tech for its own sake, like pop out door handles, electric seats and the like, for me is just extra ways to create problems, but I am probably in the minority there.
hey guys, it 17k !!! surprisingly good enough for daily coomuters. What do you think you can buy just with 17k in europe now? a motorcycle? Besides, I really like this reviewer. Way better than any well-known car reviewers.
Geely is doing great work with Galaxy, especially in terms of pricing. It's not especially interesting, but it will sell incredibly well given the software, specs, and (of course) affordability. Great review!
Our Proton e.Mas 7... The most impressive part is the Aegis short blade LFP battery.. probably one of the most advance FLP battery right now.. The entire car only weight 1600+ kg despite of its battery weight.
Another great review, Thanks! The weight is indeed very impressive, I guess in real world test it will have a much better range than other competitors, like the BYD atto 3. As for suspension tunning, well it is a typical Chinese like the atto 3, it's ok but sure needs some better body control.
thanks for the review....doesnt a huawei phone whether running on harmony or EMUI has the same capability as the flyme in terms of integration with the vehicle software, in this case integration of harmony/EMUI with huawei cars such as aito or avatr?
Haha, you found out what Geely likes to do, take what they think is good and cheap from a couple of more expensive models from the last generation and combine them to make this generation of cars. And the Geely Galaxy's design is generally an era behind. in 2022 people were already complaining about vehicles with few physical buttons, and as a result, last year's Galaxy L7 and Galaxy L6 still had ‘‘Clean center console, no physical buttons’’ as a selling point. in 2023 people were complaining about hidden door handles for a year, but the 2024 Galaxy E5 was launched with hidden door handles as a selling point.
Hopefully the darker colours will look better than the very dull white and pink cars shown here. I'd be curious about bicycle carrier accessories for a model of this size and type.
white and black are the most popular color now. even my family insist white for safety (visibility in the night). when you got a family they are the priority. 😁
It'll be interesting to see what name it is sold under in foreign markets (Samsung may take issue with them using the Galaxy name), and what price it is. How does it compare price wise in China with the BYD Yuan Plus? Here in Australia a BYD Atto3 starts around A$45K. I'd probably guess this would be a similar price.
Ford sell a Galaxy MPV and there's a chocolate bar called Galaxy too so can't see Samsung having an issue especially as the other two were using that name first !.
Personally, it is most important to me that a car is practical and fun to drive. Accordingly, I find some Chinese cars rather impractical, as some of them offer absurd space in the second row, but have a small trunk. Then there are the sometimes lousy driving characteristics. Let's see how it all develops
Interesting...well, if the RHD version really turned up to become the first Proton e.MAS model as rumoured, I think it would be received well by the Malaysian market (provided the price is under RM100k). On another hand, I noticed there's the Atto 3 (Yuan Plus) next to the E5. Are you guys going to do a comparison with that as well?
The spec is really nice, I would queue to be the first to buy if Proton makes a RHD version even below 150k. Proton can handle the suspension tuning better than Geely.
According to the information from 懂车帝(dongchedi, a chinese car info platform), the battery of the Galaxy E5 comes from 蜂巢能源 Honeycomb Energy (SVOLT) and 江苏耀宁 Jiangsu Yao Ning
17k € sounds nice. But is that with import tax and VAT in the EU? Where can I buy this car, and where can I get it serviced? Smart and Volvo are easily serviced at Mercedes and Volvo dealers. I think Polestars can get their service at Volvo, too. With Zeekr and now Geely. I don't see a clear plan for how this is going to be handled. I'm all for more competition from China on the European (German) market. But some things still seem a bit vague and without a good long-term plan.
@@alsetalokin88 Jealous much? I don't see where the German or the EU government is 'bellicose'. Most of the time they're not combative enough. As for Geely: There doesn't even seem to be a short-term plan for the EU market.
@@copperhead100 jealous? what for? so you assume i'm a chinese citizen? ha. geely and many others have better plans for south east asia and other global south countries. it's understandable, yes?
Meizu has been outstanding in terms of software humanization. They offer a lot of creative features on their phones that have been imitated by their competitors.
Car will not sell on looks and i do not spend enough time in a car to really care about infotainment, but any functions the infotainment has should just work with large and distinctive buttons, most companies try to turn their large screens into a laptop dispay, which might be ok when parked but a misapplied formula when driving. Just my 2cents.
Being able to mirror your phone isn't such a great software feature for a software defined car. Things like active liquid thermal management of the battery and motors, one pedal drive with energy regenaraton and traction control are a must and those you don't measure in frames per second nor in phone mirroing capabilities. Did I mention a dependable auto steering and driving dynamics too? Software that doesn't fit these purposes only satisfy teen's wishes for showing off and spend their money in a non wisely manner.
I don't mention centralized thermal management, one-padel mode unless it's missing from the car, because it is standard even on a $15k BYD Dolphin. I did mention traction control in the video but you certainly missed it. Stop your condesending tone and learn.

can't wait to see it's cousin, the Proton e.mas
low trim same price City and high Corolla cross

Geely is doing great work with Galaxy, especially in terms of pricing.

Good review, the e5 is very light weight on par with Tesla. This is the suv that geely need to be global best seller.

oh, the China version of Atto 3 has soft suspension tuning too? interesting...🤔
it claim 20km more is it real?
Does the flyme link works only for meizu phone, does it work on samsung phone???

The Xiaomi car as well I believe with their HyperOS
Just wait for the Onvo L60. The look is 1000x better
Yes Onvo will be very competitive but this is one category below in terms of size and pricing
You should have compared to the BYD which was sitting alongside
Handling & suspension will surely better after tuned by Proton 😊
Omg the infotainment is the best but will that work with iOS?
Looks like a bit of a mashup between the smart #3 on the outside and the Zeekr X on the inside.

Finally some “light weight” ev, not some over 2 ton behemoth of a truck. Some Chinese ev sedans are heavier than f150 can you imagine
Please review the Geely Geome XingYuan. Thanks!

one of the most critical needs of some car owners in China is the need to take more than 2 children to school every morning
You can put down the back seat.

Galaxy is an English word, so cannot be trademarked, Galaxy S something can be

I think VW customers with OS 4.0 are again stuck though and did not get 5.0 which has been shipping with newer cars for many months now.
