      Switzerland is rich because they were always 'neutral' during critical times, while benefitting from the wars fought out around them.
      Aiding nazi's, selling weapons of war, while claiming to be neutral and anti war is beyond hypocritical.
      The arrogance your comments exude are exactly what you would expect from a Swiss a-hole, that wants to profit from the EU by joining it -partly-, while also refusing to actually join, coöperate on an equal level or participate, only what the Swiss benefits from is what they are about.
      If you stand by evil and do nothing, you are part of the problem, that's how the Swiss got rich, so it's a lot worse than standing by, you're a nation of genocide enablers, your arrogance is shit, leave the EU please, we don't need douches like you.

    Is it really a mainstream brand from Nio?! I mean 900V architecture, thinner cells, an LFP pack with reasonably fast charging times is something one would associate with more premium BEVs. This makes up for what the Tesla falls short on- a more plush cabin: I noticed the front passenger seat with a footrest, lounge mode to relax while your car charges, reclining rear seats, and most importantly a better ride. While Model Y's software and performance will reign supreme, but as an everyday car, it's a better rounded BEV which is where the Onvo begins to make a lot of sense. Let alone the Model Y, why would you spend more for an equivalent Nio?!
    The exterior design is pleasing to the eye, given it's a new brand from Nio. How are the panel gaps on the outside? It seemed to be a very well finished car from the video.
    Nio's battery swapping is faster than filling up a tank at 2.5 minutes. What is your take on battery swapping vs. charging in the ownership experience? Have customers been able to find the right packs and with enough juice at swapping stations? How about a video on your swapping experience overall? Lastly, are the cells prismatic?
    As always, continue the great work. A very happy subscriber!

    • @ChinaDriven
      @ChinaDriven  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      We only have rumours that the 60kWh are BYD cells, so they would be blade batteries, since thats all that BYD's battery division make.
      In terms of swapping, I never really had a problem. I have heard from other owners of queues and waiting, or batteries unavailable at rush hour/very busy places in Shanghai. But the newer generation swap station hold more batteries. We'll have to see how it affect things when the stations are holding another two types/size of batteries.

    • @Francis-of8cw
      @Francis-of8cw 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@ChinaDriven I know. All I mean is if you buy a Nio right now, you are paying more and getting less than an Onvo. I'm curious what changes they will make when they go to NT3 and how they will distinguish themselves as 'Premium'. As Onvo as of right now is 90% the build quality and 90% the performance of Nio. Nio has to make a big step to be worth the upgrade i.m.o.
      Also, something you didn't mention in the video: The main reason (I think) Onvo took such a big leap in energy-efficiency is they changed their heat pump system to something similar Tesla uses like the "super manifold" and "octo-valve". Most electric cars have standardized heat-pump systems that are inefficient. I'm no expert but apparently the heat from the batteries, motor can be used to heat the interior and vice-versa, also works for cooling. All systems are connected in such a way that there's almost no energy-loss. There are videos of engineers / mechanics explaining how it exactly works.

    • @ChinaDriven
      @ChinaDriven  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You forgetting that the ET9 is supposedly going to add a 120kWh thin pack as well. I don't think the 150kWh is a thin battery IIRC. So it can only fit into NIO NT1 & NT2 cars.
      So far for me battery swapping has been nothing but a fantastic experience. But as more cars able to swap at the stations come on the market, first ONVO, later other OEMs...I worry if there will be longer queue times. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

      BMW 3 is still the benchmark in its segment. Tesla as a benchmark is largely due to its sales, rather then it’s technical prowess in China.
      My biggest problem with this is that many people buy a Tesla not because the product is the best but based solely on badge prestige. The model Y really doesn’t excel in any area in China. There are more efficient EVs, better features, Tesla has no FSD in China, I believe o my basic autopilot. Its stiffer ride while making it fun to drive is not great on broken Chinese city roads.

      Why is everyone caught up on this. LOL
      It's a standardised test. So take EV A's CLTC and compared it to EV B's CLTC.
      CLTC is a standard made for chinese driving. More weight for urban roads and city ring roads, less weight for highway cruising. As this is more inline with daily driving habits in China. Chinese EVs do not all have WLTP or EPA ratings.
      But yes, if you drive a mix of fast and and slow roads you will see something between 70-80% of the total CLTC generally. But you'd also see 70-80% of Tesla's CLTC range as well.

      @ChinaDriven  6 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I’m going to assume you are in a market where there are limited EVs on sale. There must be 100 EVs with glass roofs in China. from SUVs to sedans.
      There is no doubt this is inspired by the
      minimalist layout in a Tesla. but if you really look at both of them you’ll see there are differences. There are other EVs with wildly different stylings. There are EVs with similar stylings.
      the MachE sells very poorly in China. Its interior is not appealing to the market. And the Koreans have still not fully entered their EVs.
      So while I’ll agree there is some inspiration from the Model Y I don’t think it’s a straight copy. I think it proves that at this lower price segment this minimalist interior layout is popular.

    • @younged510
      @younged510 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

    • @ChinaDriven
      @ChinaDriven  6 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      What part of the interiors look the same to you? They both have a single screen mounted in the middle? I think ONVO not having an instrument panel, rather using a HUD can make them seem similar. So in that respect yes, it is like a tesla M3/MY interior.
      But the difference in my eyes is the tesla interior on the highland and MY is very blocky and contrasting between black and white on the two tone. Straight lines.
      The Onvo follows NIO's styling more rounded soft edges with a more blended flow of the two tone.
      The example you gave of "different interiors" namely the ioniq 5/6 and mach E both have exteriors that look like they belong in ICE cars.
      As for the exterior styling, aero drag is going to play a big part in what you can do bodywise if you are trying to eek as much low drag as possible. It's going to have a coupish side profile, a small front section. But the interior space inside the ONVO L60 is massive compared to a MY. It's staggeringly different.
      You can see other low drag mid-sized cross-over EVs, IM LS6, Xpeng G6. While many OEMs have to stick to some sense of brand "styling" like Audi, BMW etc, NIO get to start from scratch, and we can guess that the shape of the Model Y & ONVO L60 is just going to be the best shape for that low drag.

    • @ChinaDriven
      @ChinaDriven  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      They all have CLTC test. It doesn't matter is CLTC isn't as close to representing "real life ranges" as EPA or WTLP. We can use it as a comparison across them.
      The CLTC does have draw backs as a range test as it's developed for China. So it focuses more on Urban driving, so small urban roads and city ring roads with less weight to motorway cruising.
      ONVO's new 900V motors seem pretty good, high efficiency, smaller packaging. Would be interesting to see if Tesla could make a big jump going from 400V to 800V motors and batteries.
      I spoke to some engineers in China from a Chinese EV brand, a while ago, and they all agree Tesla's BMS was very good and that was an area that they are working on in China.
      China is leading EVs in terms of overall market. You can argue certain components are better or worse. But due to the high EV uptake and focus in China there is a huge speed of development and redevelopment.
      One key area for chinese EV/OEMs that still alludes many is chassis and suspension maturity. (Also engines, but that doesn't matter for EVs!) Many still need to improve their chassis and suspension tuning.

    • @ChinaDriven
      @ChinaDriven  8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yes I said WTLP has more weighting in its test cycle to high speed. But there is no WTLP standards for most Chinese EVs. And doing a rough calculation to convert from CLTC to WTLP is too crude. It's better to look at say Audi E-Tron CTLC vs NIO or Xpeng CTLC.
      Because as you know, high speed efficiency is not just about motors and BMS, but also drag starts becoming a big factor. And recently Chinese EVs are constantly battling over lower and lower drag.
      The way I look at it personally is compare two by the same standardised test cycle. Not to say that this CLTC is a true reflection of real world returns.
      Just like giving US$ pricing. It's not because I think that is a realistic representation of the price abroad. It's just that for many RMB/CN¥ doesn't mean anything. People are likely to be far more familiar with prices in US$ to give them a baseline for comparing two vehicles not in their market.
