A lot of the games that claimed the top spots are from dormant franchises that fans are hoping to revitalize.
Wilds is literally already scheduled to come out. Nobody in their right mind would ask for a new game. Give us Dino Crisis or Onimusha instead! Or RE CV remake
This was exactly my mindset for a number of these questions, and I ended up voting for Breath of Fire in its place. Praying we get proper revival of the series.
Yeah, the majority of people who are going to bother with a survey like this are are doing so specifically to ask for a dormant/backburner franchise like Dino Crisis, Mega Man, Breath of Fire etc. Obviously franchises like Monster Hunter and Resident Evil would be on top if you're just counting current popularity. I feel Capcom should definitely try bringing back more stuff because even though focusing on the biggest popular things is working really well for now, it does kinda feel like they're mostly sticking to a handful of franchises, and I think there is a chance of burning people out.

Power Stone was in the leaks listed for 2024 (the doc was from May 2020, so before the pandemic delayed everything. DD2 was gonna be a late 2022 release. Pragmata was scheduled for 2021). So PS doesn't need fans to convince Capcom to make a new one. Esp. since Itsuno already wants to do it. Other franchises like Onimusha, Dino Crisis, Breath of Fire, Darkstalkers or Okami don't have a champion as prominent as Itsuno is for PS, RS or CvS, so they needed this.
I feel like a combination of the fandom being less spread (you won't get 2 street fighter fans to vote for the same character or game , While most AA fans would agree Edgeworth is one of the best characters), and Street Fighter fans voting for something else due to being far less worried about the future of their serie compared to other Capcom franchise. A lot of Dino Crisis voter where probably also Residents Evil fans as well, but they don't need to vote for Residents Evil. Of course, Ace Attorney is also just quite popular in Japan.
Same for me and Punch-Out!!, and yes, I know we got a good Wii title, but it's been drier than the Sahara out here except for the Smash Bros. oasis since then.
Nintendo should make a Starfox game like StarLink, but more evolved where you can get out of your vehicule, play with other players etc. They would print money.

Makes sense honestly. Survival Horrors fan knows that they don't exactly have to worry about the future of Resident Evil or beg for more Resident Evil, so might as well vote for the other serie. makes me think Darkstalkers or VS. fans should have done it with Street Fighter.

And SE execs said that we are getting less smaller games, they are (again, like in PS360Wii times) focusing on the big-budget games only. This is why I love Community surveys, my favorite memory of these things has got to be when the Fire Emblem community all voted for a NPC known as the Gatekeeper beating Marth in the polls and got added to the mobile game.
Legit, though, the Gatekeeper is one of the most charming characters in Three Houses. Because he's the one NPC that's always going to be there in between missions, he's really has time to grow on you. Unless you join Edelgard, in which case he gets replaced by his nearly identical brother.

With Darkstalkers and Dino Crisis, they are not very well known. I didn’t learn of them until this year! HOWEVER, once you tell someone the concept of them on paper then everyone is so onboard. An RE style horror with Dinosaurs instead of zombies? Take my money. A cartoonish but mature fighting game with horror characters? Take my money. Those concepts are moneymakers, it’s just been so long with no new entries that most people aren’t aware of them, even though they are so appealing. If those games had no legacy and didn’t exist until right now, they would be just as popular because of their concept. Modern Capcom would crush new entries in both those franchises, and I hope they realise that they’re sitting on a goldmine.
Exactly... I don't know what marketing they had in the states, but I have NEVER seen any version of Darkstalkers in an arcade and had never even heard about it until a few years ago. Kind of like how I missed out on Pokken even though I played both Pokemon games and fighting games... how did I not hear about it? Without people knowing your game exists, no one will buy it. Hell, even indie developers get this concept.
I remember Darkstalkers being in arcades, but that was literally 20 years ago now (possibly more). I'm not surprised people younger than me don't know Darkstalkers (aside from "oh yeah, that game Morrigan is supposed to be from") maybe. If you do want to play it, there's the Capcom Fighting Collection, which has every Darkstalkers arcade release, but they're very much arcade ports (booting up the game puts you directly into Arcade mode).
Wish the Breath of Fire fans stanned this hard. With other big classic RPGs getting Remakes, Reloads, and Remasters, I hope they're not too afraid to give BoF another shot.
BoF was much bigger in Japan, as most pre-Final Fantasy 7 JRPGs, but BoF 6 bombed "hard", they hated it over there. So, I'm not sure how likely it is for us to get a new one now. Maybe a collection of 1 through 4 might happen, but a new one... yeah, I don't know.
Seeing Capcom VS, Viewtiful Joe, and Megaman X place so low in the "where IP Capcom" list but seeing the universal outcry for refreshing old IP made up for it.
Dino Crises (since there will be more than a million playable crises though 7,000 different continents) will have a feature that will have it so that the controller will be able to absorb your fear and sweat from your hands, making it possible to gather enough data to create your own personalized Dinos that you fight. Because they are personalized, there will be an auction house where you can sell your Dino's information or buy other's information.

Power Stone was in the leak as a greenlit title, so there are forces within Capcom strongly pushing for it. Itsuno really wants to return to the series, so it's not impossible it's his next title after DD2.

Breath of Fire 3 is a god tier RPG. It has literally everything. Ost is godly. Mini games are godly. Characters are awesome. Sprites look great. It's peak Capcom.
The BoF series was my JAM. Your MC can turn into a GODDAMN DRAGON. THIS was my "going super saiyan" before such a thing was possible. They need to bring this series back, and not as some damned mobile phone game.

I'd say that the bad interpretation of Frank in DR4 hurt his reputation a bit. Personally, I find Frank to not even be the best character in his own franchise, coming second to Chuck Greene.

Us Dead Rising fans will take anything we can fucking get. I desperately hope we get a Japan developed new game in the future. The OG game is still my favourite of the entire series.
Max: We dino crisis fans NEED this survey to succeed. Not for nothing, but devil may cry, monster hunter, and resident evil have been eating real good lately. Dino crisis literally got up to three games. Two of which are ps1, and the last one being only exclusive on the Xbox back in 03. We've been dying for Capcom to finally notice this series once again, and hoping, that the survey will perhaps put it in their sights of potential remake.
Man, I'm just glad Breath of Fire is getting some love, even if it's unlikely to receive any new games or even ports or remakes. The closest we got was that they had planned a character from there to go into one of the Vs. games (I forget which one, but I think it was UMvC3) and I think there was a Katt costume for Falke in SF5. For years, it was my favorite RPG series, until recently when Persona took over that spot. I just feel like it's been all but forgotten at this point, though. JRPGs aren't as popular now, and the franchise has been in hibernation for SO long (not counting the literal mobile game that supposedly got released in Japan as BoF6).
Yeah, that's right. BoF 6 bombed horribly in Japan. That's why I doubt we're gonna get a new one anytime soon, this series pretty much always did better in Japan. Sadly, I feel Capcom sees it as a very minor series... more of an experiment too, since absolutely every company was making RPGs at that point in time. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see them making a new BoF this decade.

Honestly I wouldn't mind not getting more direct Devil May Cry sequels, in part because I think that 5 is the perfect time for the series to bow out. Dante's story is wrapped up. Vergil's story is wrapped up. Nero's story is wrapped up. It really feels like Itsuno put everything he wanted to do into 5 and wanted it to be a grand finale of sorts. Narratively, adding more beyond it wouldn't really have the same pathos as before. I don't really want the series to become a franchise zombie where it just continues churning out content unless there's something that the IP holders actually see potential in. Letting Itsuno make a new action game would be entirely fine. Heck, give him Dino Crisis.
I'd just like DMC1/2 remake. They are such different beasts from 3-5 to the point where they are practically different franchises in terms of game feel
I mean, Dino Crisis scoring so high was due to a huge amount of fans voting to send Capcom a message, but honestly, seeing how well the Resident Evil remakes have been and that the Jurassic World movies were huge successes, in the money sense at least, you would think Capcom would've made a Dino Crisis remake in the vein of the RE in order to capitalize on the popularity of the JW movies

Devil May Cry’s popularity is why I’ve been arguing for a remake of DMC1, it’d be a great way to train up a new team so they don’t have to wait on Itsuno for a new DMC game. Plus DMC1 is the perfect balance of beloved enough to where people will buy to remake and old enough to where Capcom can update various aspects to better line up with the rest of the series (namely gameplay & story).
It's never going to happen, but I would love to see a new version of DMC 2. The game was clearly unfinished so it would benefit from an updated version. I think it would be nice to have a definitive DMC 2 that's fun enough that it doesn't just get ignored by everyone. Also fans would probably be pretty okay with some bigger changes to a remake/reimagining to make it more interesting and fit it in better with the other games.

@@mendics The OG Dino Crisis was quite similar to Resident Evil 1, but with even more puzzles (some... sorta annoying) and dinosaurs which were a more serious threat than zombies. The first game was always "Resident Evil, but with dinosaurs", so they should keep it the same IMO. The second game was essentially an action game, they could go with RE 4 approach. The third game doesn't exist. :v So, a reboot would make the most sense I feel, and then they could do something new.

I’ve grown into a big Darkstalkers fan, and with this potential resurgence in MVC I’m hoping more people pick up Anakaris, BB Hood, Felicia, and the other Darkstalkers to create another rise in fans demanding a new game. Despite people not seeming hearing about it, it is one game consistent in having a rerelease every console generation. If we count this as both the PS4 and the PS5 generation…I don’t even know what Xbox is on right now

It's kinda heartwarming we are getting those surveys, I'm also lover of many other series that are dead and forgotten. Like Phantasy Star (mainline JRPG) -- I'm a big sci-fi fan, but we are getting nothing from japanese (even anime, do they hate that setting? in past times they are making many sci-fi/cyberpunk stuff) and of course I bought and completed every Star Ocean but sadly, the series is as good as dead now, judging by the sales numbers. And SE execs said that we are getting less smaller games, they are (again, like in PS360Wii times) focusing on the big-budget games only. I wonder what Tri-Ace now are developing, they was almost went bankrupt, but judging by the info on one sales board where OP translates stuff from official pages -- debt is cleared now.

With Darkstalkers and Dino Crisis, they are not very well known. I didn’t learn of them until this year! HOWEVER, once you tell someone the concept of them on paper then everyone is so onboard. An RE style horror with Dinosaurs instead of zombies? Take my money. A cartoonish but mature fighting game with horror characters? Take my money. Those concepts are moneymakers, it’s just been so long with no new entries that most people aren’t aware of them, even though they are so appealing. If those games had no legacy and didn’t exist until right now, they would be just as popular because of their concept. Modern Capcom would crush new entries in both those franchises, and I hope they realise that they’re sitting on a goldmine.
Exactly... I don't know what marketing they had in the states, but I have NEVER seen any version of Darkstalkers in an arcade and had never even heard about it until a few years ago. Kind of like how I missed out on Pokken even though I played both Pokemon games and fighting games... how did I not hear about it? Without people knowing your game exists, no one will buy it. Hell, even indie developers get this concept.
I remember Darkstalkers being in arcades, but that was literally 20 years ago now (possibly more). I'm not surprised people younger than me don't know Darkstalkers (aside from "oh yeah, that game Morrigan is supposed to be from") maybe. If you do want to play it, there's the Capcom Fighting Collection, which has every Darkstalkers arcade release, but they're very much arcade ports (booting up the game puts you directly into Arcade mode).
Wish the Breath of Fire fans stanned this hard. With other big classic RPGs getting Remakes, Reloads, and Remasters, I hope they're not too afraid to give BoF another shot.
BoF was much bigger in Japan, as most pre-Final Fantasy 7 JRPGs, but BoF 6 bombed "hard", they hated it over there. So, I'm not sure how likely it is for us to get a new one now. Maybe a collection of 1 through 4 might happen, but a new one... yeah, I don't know.
Seeing Capcom VS, Viewtiful Joe, and Megaman X place so low in the "where IP Capcom" list but seeing the universal outcry for refreshing old IP made up for it.

Dino Crises (since there will be more than a million playable crises though 7,000 different continents) will have a feature that will have it so that the controller will be able to absorb your fear and sweat from your hands, making it possible to gather enough data to create your own personalized Dinos that you fight. Because they are personalized, there will be an auction house where you can sell your Dino's information or buy other's information.
Just wait until the DLC. "Dino Crises: Meteor Crisis", which the main story plot is that Dinosaurs can and will summon meteors.

Max: We dino crisis fans NEED this survey to succeed. Not for nothing, but devil may cry, monster hunter, and resident evil have been eating real good lately.
Dino crisis literally got up to three games. Two of which are ps1, and the last one being only exclusive on the Xbox back in 03. We've been dying for Capcom to finally notice this series once again, and hoping, that the survey will perhaps put it in their sights of potential remake.
Man, I'm just glad Breath of Fire is getting some love, even if it's unlikely to receive any new games or even ports or remakes. The closest we got was that they had planned a character from there to go into one of the Vs. games (I forget which one, but I think it was UMvC3) and I think there was a Katt costume for Falke in SF5. For years, it was my favorite RPG series, until recently when Persona took over that spot. I just feel like it's been all but forgotten at this point, though. JRPGs aren't as popular now, and the franchise has been in hibernation for SO long (not counting the literal mobile game that supposedly got released in Japan as BoF6).
Yeah, that's right. BoF 6 bombed horribly in Japan. That's why I doubt we're gonna get a new one anytime soon, this series pretty much always did better in Japan. Sadly, I feel Capcom sees it as a very minor series... more of an experiment too, since absolutely every company was making RPGs at that point in time. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see them making a new BoF this decade.

Honestly I wouldn't mind not getting more direct Devil May Cry sequels, in part because I think that 5 is the perfect time for the series to bow out. Dante's story is wrapped up. Vergil's story is wrapped up. Nero's story is wrapped up. It really feels like Itsuno put everything he wanted to do into 5 and wanted it to be a grand finale of sorts. Narratively, adding more beyond it wouldn't really have the same pathos as before.
I don't really want the series to become a franchise zombie where it just continues churning out content unless there's something that the IP holders actually see potential in. Letting Itsuno make a new action game would be entirely fine. Heck, give him Dino Crisis.

Devil May Cry’s popularity is why I’ve been arguing for a remake of DMC1, it’d be a great way to train up a new team so they don’t have to wait on Itsuno for a new DMC game. Plus DMC1 is the perfect balance of beloved enough to where people will buy to remake and old enough to where Capcom can update various aspects to better line up with the rest of the series (namely gameplay & story).
Facts. Would love to see Kamiya fix the franchises story while updating the gameplay to modern standards.

I don't think dmc1 needs a remake. Resident evil 2 and 3 were the only games that really needed. 4 was a good surprise, but still wouldn't say needed
It's never going to happen, but I would love to see a new version of DMC 2. The game was clearly unfinished so it would benefit from an updated version. I think it would be nice to have a definitive DMC 2 that's fun enough that it doesn't just get ignored by everyone. Also fans would probably be pretty okay with some bigger changes to a remake/reimagining to make it more interesting and fit it in better with the other games.

The first game was always "Resident Evil, but with dinosaurs", so they should keep it the same IMO. The second game was essentially an action game, they could go with RE 4 approach. The third game doesn't exist. :v So, a reboot would make the most sense I feel, and then they could do something new.

I need more Darkstalkers, and I’m surprised it took so long to see anyone mention it in these polls. I would’ve thought Morrigan would be near the top of most popular female characters
The problem is no one knows about it... I had never even heard of it until a few years ago. I had seen Morrigan in other games, but had no idea just how awesome the series she came from was.
@@naejimba I think I found out about it through Project X Zone. Even though I’d seen Morrigan prior too. I’ve grown into a big Darkstalkers fan, and with this potential resurgence in MVC I’m hoping more people pick up Anakaris, BB Hood, Felicia, and the other Darkstalkers to create another rise in fans demanding a new game. Despite people not seeming hearing about it, it is one game consistent in having a rerelease every console generation. If we count this as both the PS4 and the PS5 generation…I don’t even know what Xbox is on right now
