If they do Marvel 4, I'd like a combination of the groove system and some mechanics in prior MvC's/CvS. Like CvS2 you could choose whether to have 1, 2 or 3 characters to use: 1 character would give you more health (like CvS2), access to cancelling specials into specials and a parry or counter move to help against teams that use multiple characters. 2 characters would give your teams slightly less health than a single character and you'd have access to MvCI's/PR:BftG/2XKO active tag system. Then 3 characters would be like UMvC3's with ability to call in assists and do DHC/THC or wall bounce combos. That way there's a way to play for everyone, as not every player enjoys 2v2 or 3v3. Would love to see that compared to an overly complicated traditional groove system. Simplified from CVS but expanded

Onslaught first manifestated himself to Jean Grey. His first real goal was to turn X-Men to his side, by showing them how the world was really full of hypcrisy and duplicity. Starting with Jean, Onslaught pulled her into his psychic realm while she was in the middle of conversation in a shopping center, he reasurred her that although she didn't know him they had much to discuss, Jean wasn't really convinced but decided to play along in order to learn more about the entity, Onslaught started by showing her how none of the people in the mall were actually concerned for her safety, even if she had just randomly dissapeared, he even fired a fake blast at the building to release his frustrations, he then took Jean to the anti-mutant presidential campaign of Graydon Creed, showing him how his main advisor didn't really have any ideology regarding mutants, mocking the fact that the X-Men's "Dream" would never reach people like him. For the ones who want to know, onslaught is an entity created from the fusion of xaviers years of repressed anger, hatred, sadness, etc mixed with magnetos. If you have ever played xenogears, he is xaviers id. Onslaught eventually is freed from xavier to become his own entity at some point as well.
It's weird thinking about it now, but yeah, back in the 90's Marvel straight up went bankrupt, so Capcom not getting a huge budget for the games also makes sense.
It’s so easy to forget the dire Marvel 90s situation, when you had stuff like the X-Men comics, the Capcom VS games, X-Men TAS, and Spidey TAS. So many positive memories are associated with those that many would not even be aware of stuff like the bankruptcy, speculator boom, and the Clone Saga.

Speaking of Lou, I've been playing Three Wonders myself lately, and found its third wheel Don't Pull to be my favorite of the three games. I wonder, if Don or Pull was an assist...I think it'd be the natural thing. They'd push a block forward across the floor. The only question is what happens next. I was thinking one of two things. Either it's just a standard block that (if it hits the opponent) pushes the opponent away and either causes an ungodly wallbounce or a knockdown once it reaches the wall and breaks, or it's a bomb block which would push the opponent and knock them down if it hits directly but which (like the original game) would stun the opponent on the spot if they dodge the block itself but get caught in its blast once it hits the wall.

Xavier reached his breaking point when anti-mutant humans killed a young mutant near the grounds of the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning, the secret base of the X-Men. It was at this point that Onslaught awakened within Xavier and began to manifest himself to others
Based on the recent Sabertooth War, people really need to stop trying to rehabilitate him. It goes poorly every time.
@@biohazard724exactly he was beyond help by that point….especially Sabretooth War arc gave so much insight to the Onslaught Arcs starting point
I want to continue on a little from my previous comment: ...Since we have Terry and Mai in the Capcom Universe now canonically...Does that mean that, in a potential new Marvel vs Capcom (vs SNK), we will get Fatal Fury representatives? 🤔 Are we going to get a potentially gigantic fighting game from some crazy places!? 🤔 There's so much potential!
Yeah I can imagine a MVC having Not Marvel nor Capcom guest characters, like how Injustice has non DC characters in it and stuff
love that background art
Cyclops Vs Ryu
Chun vs Psylocke?
Cpt America vs Cpt Commando
Spider man Vs Morrigan... for some reason
Zangief vs Venom
Victor von Doom Vs Bison
Gouki vs Thanos
Iron Man Vs Mega man
Storm Vs Strider Hiryu
Wolverine vs Tron Bonne
Nice
Spider-Man and Morrigan definitely had something going on through the entire series.
@@theotherjared9824Capcom heard how much those wackjob writers at marvel for amazing and their fraud creation Paul has put him through so they decided to let peter get some demonussy (I'm sorry and not sorry for that sentence)
Groovy
Gosh I love desk videos. They are always such a treat when they release! And the production value is high on them too!
Cyber Akuma is also a costume in Marvel vs Capcom 3
Devilotte Mech is a pendant in Monster Hunter World
Armored Spiderman also showed up in that Spiderman Animated series episodes where they have to fight Spider Carnage
Secret characters of this magnitude seem to be part of that era of gaming, as I highly doubt they’d fly or even be put into modern fighting games.
Like say if we were to get New MvC or XMvSF2, I don’t think we’d see something so broken like back then.
Yeah it was a gimmick back then really
Secret characters in general can't really be used effectively anymore since the internet will have exactly how to get them before the game even releases. It's a shame, but it's reality.
@@theotherjared9824Agreed, there was just something so magical of the arcade games of the time between the playground stories of wild rumors, and the feeling of suddenly encountering the likes of Reptile or Akuma because of near-impossible win conditions.
Internet utterly ruins all of that now. L
Depends if you count SF6's secret Akuma taunt upgrade as a secret character or not. It's a fun way to try and do that at least.
@@theotherjared9824Also we live in the age of DLC and internet leaking.
"This should have less flashing."
*ROYAL FLUSH*
I need to find a way to work "you cannot stop me with paramecium alone" into a conversation.
See if you can use it to get out of a speeding ticket.
One thing I always thought was cool was how both Arthur and Thor were strikers in MvC1 but when they became playable in MvC3 they had the moves they'd used as Strikers.
The only fighting game to be 100% balanced was Street Fighter 1, since you could only play Ryu vs Ken.
So glad they have the setting to turn off flashing, my eyes hurt watching this but love the video max
The Simpsons making a joke about that Pokemon episode will NEVER in my lifetime not be hilarious though.
Even though Norimaro isn’t in the MvC collection fans will find a way to mod him in.
"This should have less flashing...IT DOES NOOOOOOOOOT!"
Perfect timing.
41:43 - they called Darkstalker's Revenge a Beat-em-up. XD
Probably british, they cal fighting games "beat em ups" and beat em us they call "brawlers".
God, I'd love to see these games remade. Properly upscaled to 1080p, with all new sprites SO MORRIGAN CAN FINALLY GET ONE
Yeah!
Not to sound thirsty or anything, but gonna be cool to see Mai in SF6. I didn’t like her design much in KOFXV. I like the SF6 art style more. Been playing Vampire Savior a lot recently, I still play with Morrigan a lot. But been labbing w/ others.
21:15 - I remember reading somewhere Orange Hulk was a reference to The Thing because they wanted him & the Human Torch in the game but didn't have time.
Love how that “Like the Wind” from Sega’s Power Drift is playing in the background. Goes really well with the game play!
so many characters I never really got the chance to mess around with, will definitely be trying them out in MVC collection first chance I get! had no idea shadow charlie and shadow lady both had raging demon-style screen kills!
I'm still waiting on Rival Schools
I'd cry if we got assist me, the comeback or something like that
I hope they add the Fantastic four to future Marvel vs Capcom games
36:48 I knew who Strider was because my dad's best friend had the first game on the Sega Genesis...but I had forgotten about him until he showed up in MvC1. I also knew who Captain Commando was because i saw his game in the arcades as a child...but again, it had been years at that point.
The ending with just the empty corner lol
I don't know how, but as a young child, I was able to consistently find Roll on the character select in the (ABSURDLY loud) PS1 port. Her and Mega Man were always my favorite characters. I don't remember playing anyone else as strongly, but Venom and Gambit probably made strong impressions.
The ending made me laugh how it usually zooms in on maxs cam in the top corner and this time nothing was there cause he was at the bottom 😂
Red Venom my beloved
"Why are you standing against the wall?"
"I'm watching gaming videos."
I was today years old when I learned that Devilotte is from Cyberbots, of all things. Growing up, Puzzle Fighter was one of my favorite games to play with my brother and, being a fighting game enjoyer from a very young age, I recognized all of the Street Fighter and Darkstalkers characters, but Devilotte's origin was always a blank spot for me. I just figured she was from a specific Darkstalker that I didn't play. The more you know.
Jean countered saying that he wasn't really surprising him by showing her any of this and defended that despite there being people who would never change, Proffesor X's beliefs still were just
“And who knows all the secret character codes? Dios do!” 🤣
I’ve actually always thought, ever since I was a kid, that Nightcrawler would be the perfect addition to a MvC fighting game.
Who is "Nightstalker"? The only Marvel entries I could find are a team of part-vampire warriors/detectives led by Blade...
If you meant "Nightcrawler," I 100% agree.
@@adrianhendricks772 yep that’s what I meant
Jesus Crist, i didnt play many fighting games but i vaguely remember trying to fight Metal Zangeif as a friends house as a kid, I had a time with it to say the least lol.
Sf6 how to get bison:
Follow the quest line in old Nayshall, near Rashid, pretty straightforward. The change it to night. Go to foothills. Then go meet “FANG” in metro city. Return to old Nayshall arena at night.
Use Ed or jps super art 3 times on enemy.
You’ll then be taken to the old lab.
Follow those basic quest requirements.
Then behold the video of retro goodness and bison will enroll you.
Get a carrot with 40 points from defeating Dr bad.
And then you’ll have the second outfit in seconds.
2 point for psycho power drink as well.
Done.
You’re welcome.
Regarding the "pokemon caused epilepsy", as it turned out it was massively overblown and one of the more famous cases was faked the whole time
Sometimes I look up combo videos from time to time just to get some motivation to get better at fighting games
Oh yeah, fun fact. I believe that Shadow Lady is or was the inspired brainwashed Chun-Li from the Street Fighter 2 V series.
Re: who is Onslaught
As I understand it Onslaught ls like a part of Xavier's mind that's fucking pissed off and wants to go apeshit at all the bad things humans do, and somehow it takes the form of a giant evil Magneto. Obviously it's more complicated than that, and the story had a lot of changes behind the scenes but I think that's it. Xavier's mad inside, he becomes a giant psychic monster, kills some people, sends other people to The Rob Liefeld Dimension.
oh boy i can't wait to go online in MVC1 and get my ass beat by photoshop recolors
Quickest way to see if MvC1 has flicker reduction on or off is to check the color of the super background during a duo team attack. Full flicker/flash is rotating rainbow color and flicker/flash off is just red.
Not having vergil in the thumbnail is crazy.
Cyber Akuma's arm looks like Kyoukagata or Reinforced Rocket Punch from Mazinger Z (he even fires off his arm like that.) While his wings look just like Great Mazinger and his shoulder looks like the Zaku 2 from Mobile suit Gundam. His Face kind of looks like Kridanik from Macross but It could be a reference to something else.
4:55 The confidence and speed Max shut this chat comment down with was lightning fast. Seeing Max talking about an era of fighting games that he grew up with both out of love and also acknowledging the broken meta of it is kinda cathartic.
Here is how you can select the Special Partner in Marvel vs Capcom:
Light Punch = 1 = 2^0
Medium Punch = 2 = 2^1
High Punch = 4 = 2^2
Light Kick = 8 = 2^3
Medium Kick = 16 = 2^4
High Kick = 32 = 2^5 (this is no needed)
Now, map the Special Partners grid from top left from bottom right 1, 2, 3....to 20
For example to pick U.S Agent who is number 20 in the grid you need to hold Start + Medium Kick(16) + High Punch(4) or for Jubilee, number 14 in the grid, you do hold Start + Medium Punch(2) + High Punch(4) + Light Kick(8)
I feel for the brothers and sisters that own a Xbox and wont get the compilation.
I don't want to boss anyone but if that is a person with some influence to make this change (or at least make this situation more visible) is Max.
Desk is godlike. In every iteration, he has infinites, infinite good videos.
They should make a balanced version of each game in the collection. Let there be both options so people can play in the original or remixed version kind of like sf2 turbo hd remix.
Me: *watches new Max vid on my birthday*
Max: *calls a game from my birth year ancient*
3D polygons just don't hold a candle to these beautiful sprites and Q sound soundtracks. An era where everything CAPCOM did sounded like Megaman X and it was amazing! Theme of Gambit is soooo good!🥰
I always assumed that Cyber Akuma was a reference to his secret appearance in Cyberbots. Unless it’s the other way around.
I hoper there a UMVC mod of Roll in the works that combines aspects from both MVC 1 and 2 and TVC.
Its relaxing listening to the song and have Max tell stories over it.
I'm new to FGC, so this is probably a dumb question, but how do you have a Fighting Tournament when there are broken, unbalanced characters (and infinite combos)? Why would anyone play anything else, but those characters, (and maybe a direct counter to them?)
Most tournaments just ban them
A lot of the characters here weren't even meant to be "balanced" anyways like "boss" characters some r console exclusive, u would never see them anyways
Please make a tier list of the top 10 or 20 most broken characters in fighting game history
looking forward to all the mvc series videos
Seeing Max chuckle at Roll's TvC Level 3 makes me realize, we never did get a 'Rate the Super' for TvC did we?
It's weird thinking about it now, but yeah, back in the 90's Marvel straight up went bankrupt, so Capcom not getting a huge budget for the games also makes sense.
It’s so easy to forget the dire Marvel 90s situation, when you had stuff like the X-Men comics, the Capcom VS games, X-Men TAS, and Spidey TAS. So many positive memories are associated with those that many would not even be aware of stuff like the bankruptcy, speculator boom, and the Clone Saga.
I absolutely love Desk and his in-depth analysis videos, the one that looks at the MVC1 Special Partners and the series they come from, I can’t believe MVC1 invented Assist Trophies before Smash did in Brawl and holy coincidence they are 10 years apart.
MVC1 released in 1998
Brawl released in 2008
If you could have Special Partner Playable who would you choose? For its Jubilee I’ve heard she’d be sort of like the Dan Hibiki on the Marvel side, is that true?
the onslaught mod sounds awesome "no one is safe"
This was fascinating and really gave me nostalgia for the 90’s when I played all these games in arcades as a kid with my dad.
Ngl I always liked the flashing cuz it made supers feel more powerful like they are so explosive you can’t look at them. But I get why they’re frowned upon now
Onslaught is when professor X darkness is merge with magneto darkest aspects
