Coming from the UK, the concept of owning a firearm legally is bamusing. I personally believe that there is no real need for private individuals to own firearms. Americans often reference the constitution and the second amendment as if it was written by an infallible and perfect being, but it wasn't and it’s important to remember that laws can and should evolve to reflect the changing times.
Does that mean all the other amendments need to evolve? Perhaps when the guns are gone the government can make the decision to change freedom of speech or religion, maybe nobody “needs” the 4th or 5th amendment? This is why it’s called the bill of rights, not the bill of needs. The constitution was written by some wise men who just fought off a tyrannical government and knew that it could happen again so it is important for the people to bear arms in order to fight off another tyrannical government.

I worked in Corrections and did alot of research on what are the highest charges in this country. I think the anti-gun people are REALLY, REALLY, underestimating how many people, who do illegal things, have guns. Yes. There should obviously be a process on how to obtain a gun legally. But if you take away the guns from the law-abiding citizens, the non-law abiding citizens are still going to have them.
Thank you for your input and logic gathered from experience. Many people really believe that by banning firearms, everyone will automatically give up their guns and and then they’ll disappear indefinitely so that they don’t fall into the hands of the wrong people 🤦♀️
Valid argument to say that there are too many guns in the US to reverse gun violence even if banned. Also the culture would make it impossible for a clean shift. US has a different relation to guns versus Australia for example. Still its the lack of control that is the reason there are so many guns in circulation. Short term change would bring pain, but long term benefits could outweigh the negatives. Giving law abiding citizens weapons will increase the amount of weapons in used by non-law abiding citizens. @@notj5 He said retail not private sale. In the video he mentions having to answer questions about gun safety which I seriously doubt would happen in a private sale.
Well, according to 2A, actually yeah- the point of the second amendment being written into the constitution the way it was specifically was for citizens to have the same weaponry as the military (which at the time was muskets) to avoid tyrranical rule & takeover. They didn't know that Tanks and Nuclear weapons would exist, so it's definitely a big problem that needs to be resolved because technically he's correct- that's what 2A is for, even though common sense tells you how wildly dangerous it would be for civilians to have access to weapons of mass destruction.
I know it sounds ridiculous without context, but it’s ALL ABOUT teaching your children about guns and showing them it’s not a toy. If you’re a gun owner I encourage anyone to show your child how it works and how dangerous trust me children learn very fast and know what to stay away from.
It's wild to me to know that people think others who have illegally obtained a gun care about the law. People raised in safe upper class communities shouldn't have a say on others defense mechanisms who weren't as lucky when those upper class people obviously don't realize that there's a huge illegal gun trade.
Just think critically for a second though. No one is manufacturing illegal guns. So the illegal guns are logically a a byproduct of the general free availability of guns.

But if you take away the guns from the law-abiding citizens, the non-law abiding citizens are still going to have them.

Valid argument to say that there are too many guns in the US to reverse gun violence even if banned. Also the culture would make it impossible for a clean shift. US has a different relation to guns versus Australia for example.

I thought the exact same thing , I say after 16 that's young adult territory able to have a job and pay taxes.
Agree...Jubilee posted on the screen age 0-24. separate children from young adults and 0-10 and young teens that are in gangs and the death rate would change dramatically not even accounting for mental illness.
Remember, the government counts up to age 25 as "dependents" of their parents if so needed. So yeah, they consider young adults as "children"!
Girl in white shirt and blue jeans should be banned from future episodes. All her “facts” and figures have been fact checked to be inaccurate. She shouldn’t be given a platform.

I wish the moderator didn’t show which side he was on. He’s clearly partial to the anti-gun side.
He mainly was calling out logical contradictions and tried to understand what the pro-gun side were saying. I will say though, the younger black dude needed to be called out a few times and he did fail to do that tbf.
@@cubbwatchbut the way he was saying “just to clarify” and then word the pro gun sides stance into something that sounds ridiculous, but is still technically what they believe so they feel compelled to say the do agree with that kinda hyper specific thing.
maybe because a lot of the times the pro gun side people kept making contradicting statements. They’d accidentally slip up and say things that are pretty much against their own stance and not even realize

I've said for a long time we don't need stronger gun control we need gun education
Just get both?? what??
Gun education is key. Establishing the four fundamentals of gun safety and how to handle guns instead of instilling fear about them. Gov’t seems to have plenty of money to slap restrictions on guns but can’t sponsor programs that help educate people about them. Not mandate education to access a firearm but help support orgs that teach. They seem to spend money everywhere that doesn’t do a damn thing.

so should people buy tanks anf F-15 as well?
@@grasthubeIf they can afford it, yes. During the revolutionary war some of the ships and cannons used were privately owned. The second amendment said arms. It didn't specify.
@grasthube you can in fact buy a tank in the us....the f 15 is not available to the public to buy on top of the fact that they cost 10s of millions of dollars. Regardless at the end of the day the people piloting the jets wouldn't carry out an attack on us citizens on us soil. So all the tech the military has would boil down to people vs military personnel. When you join the military you swear an oath to the constitution not the government.
@@rokkudai what if it meant arms like the ones holding your hands.
You can buy a tank if you can afford it, there is nothing illegal about it, you must deactive the barrel if your going to drive it on a public roadway
That guy just totally lied about purchasing a firearm and said there are states that you don't have to do a background check. That is a complete lie as all retail gun purchases are required to have a background check. That is a federal law and is punishable by prison
I haven’t made it to the part where you’re are referring to but here in the state of Texas. When purchasing firearms from a gun show a background check is NOT required. Texas literally has the biggest gun shows in the US and all you need is to have an ID. I just turned 21 last week and I went and bought 2 weapons last week.
EDIT: I was incorrect

22 seconds into this video and bro wants citizens to be able to have nukes lmao
Bruh lol that was a flash forward.

Why do you want to limit access?
Bro is a GTA character
Well, according to 2A, actually yeah- the point of the second amendment being written into the constitution the way it was specifically was for citizens to have the same weaponry as the military (which at the time was muskets) to avoid tyrranical rule & takeover.
They didn't know that Tanks and Nuclear weapons would exist, so it's definitely a big problem that needs to be resolved because technically he's correct- that's what 2A is for, even though common sense tells you how wildly dangerous it would be for civilians to have access to weapons of mass destruction.

Not loaded but yes he did
Again, if you teach your children and your children arnt little hellions than you can do that. It’s called responsibility
I know it sounds ridiculous without context, but it’s ALL ABOUT teaching your children about guns and showing them it’s not a toy. If you’re a gun owner I encourage anyone to show your child how it works and how dangerous trust me children learn very fast and know what to stay away from.
did you and or siblings stab eachother to death with a kitchen knife? Did you take your parents car and commit vehicular manslaughter?
It's wild to me to know that people think others who have illegally obtained a gun care about the law. People raised in safe upper class communities shouldn't have a say on others defense mechanisms who weren't as lucky when those upper class people obviously don't realize that there's a huge illegal gun trade.
A huge illegal gun trade living off the huge LEGAL gun industry.
Just think critically for a second though. No one is manufacturing illegal guns. So the illegal guns are logically a a byproduct of the general free availability of guns. Not advocating for any specific measures or anything, lets just be honest about where illegally owned guns come from. They start as legal guns.

Guns is not the leading cause of death amongst children. Unless you count 17-18 year olds as children. That statistic dramatically changes when you take those 2 ages out
17 is not an adult so why would 17 year olds be taken out?
In almost every country and in most states it is you can be charged as an adult at like 15 or 16 for crimes in damn near every state the state laws for legal age of consent is between 15-17 in most states you can join the military at 17 you can get a job at 15 drive a car at 15-16 so yes they are adults just not when it’s to push an agenda
It included 18 and 19 year olds I think. 17 is still a child
