@@LittlejohnsYarn I wish I could get a life by knitting and crocheting. People think it's too expensive and they buy their clothes in cheap places, primark, berska, etc.... or even China. There's no place for artisans and handmade. 😢
@@ayrenbethancourt9379 Not necessarily. I have had at home businesses that failed, but not because the product was bad - I didn't "sell myself" or my products as well as I might have. People are much more willing to pay for a quality. handmade item than they used to be. There is a sense of understanding in the actual cost of quality ingredients, and in the time and skill it can take to make something that will last. You have to tap into the "Slow Fashion", or "Slow Handmade" crowd. That can be hard.

It's not the only state I've tried different business ideas, but I do find it to be one of the easiest (atm) to set up a small at-home business. I've been an entrepreneur for as long as I can remember. My parents encouraged me to research, and set up little businesses throughout my childhood. It was normal for me to see what I could do as a side thing, for fun and to make a little extra money. The at-home business I was referring to was from 2004 to 2007, or so. I set up a legal internet "store-front" and offered some finished sewn items, as well as custom sewn, and "visual puns", machine embroidery, and random bits of props and such from several different focuses. I went about it somewhat wrong, by taking a "scattershot" approach and trying to be all things to all people. It was also during the early days of online sales, so I was running into a lot of pushback from people who wanted to be able to see something IRL. Right now, especially since you would have an uphill battle trying to educate your target demographic, I'd probably advise going into online sales and reach to a different set of clients. You can't compete against cheap and easily reproducible. You would need to find a thing you would like to sell, then work on making that your cornerstone, and then look into the different marketplaces that would cater to the people who would be likely to want to buy your product. I have been thinking about restarting my attempts at a small business. Each little "side-gig" did teach me something, so I'm taking this next experiment in small at-home business slowly and carefully. So sense in rushing right now. Good luck with whatever you decide to do, however you decide to do it.

I have been working in the construction field as an electrician for going on 15 yrs. It's beginning to take a toll on my ol' body. Congratulations on being able to go full time! I lost my job 3 yrs ago and was "forced" to go full time right from the get go. It was so much work setting up my crochet biz (blog, YT channel, Etsy). I cannot begin to imagine how you were able to juggle a job and kids and try to level up your crochet business. Good for you!
