This awning room also fits the Maxtrac awning from Napa at only $129 to $159 and is comparable in quality to the ARB awning. I have attached this to my teardrop trailer and it makes it incredible. I can see modifying the backwall to match the opening tom my teardrop door and then I can enclose and heat or cool the room as needed. Being in Texas the heat can be overbearing. Love the awning room and love your reviews. I am subscribing and love the humor in your videos.
Thanks! Its' also a good fit for the Ironman awning which we switched to. The ironman weighs about half as much but is still solid. I had no idea you could get gear like that at Napa. Thx for taking the time to comment and watch.
As always I love your videos. I am on my second awning so I can tell you what not to buy. Don’t buy a Rhino-Rack Batwing. It collapsed like a cheap umbrella the first time I used it. I had fully opened it and was getting the guy ropes ready to install when a slight puff of wind caused it to snap all of its plastic joints and smash the top of my roof and hood of my Tacoma. Rhino-Rack refused to replace it or refund the money. I use the truck for overlanding and for work events so I needed another awning asap. I ended up buying an awning from The Bush Company and have been extremely pleased. I know their awnings are expensive, but the money, time and anguish spent dealing with Rhino-Rack makes The Bush Company’s awning feel like a bargain. Keep the great content coming!
Oh, Scott... that sounds too familiar. I have an ironman awning I tried out for the first time a few weeks ago. While I was attempting to hammer the first peg in (not holding the guy line in my hand like I should have been), the whole panel caught a gust and flipped onto my rack. Luckily the poles didn't bend and it's still operable, though it's lost a fair bit of pride : ) We're thinking of a Batwing and gazelle tent combo as our next aspiration. OVS looks pretty well built for the price. I'll look into Bush Company. Thanks!
EXCELLENT VIDEO but the Background noise/music is distracting and making it hard to hear you at times... We don't need background noise/music We just want to HEAR You Talk... Thank you for sharing this great video.
I love these videos, so fun! The humor keeps it fun, and the videos are informative. I can see this channel definitely going places! Thanks so much for taking the time!
i love my ARB awning. i have it custom installed on a Ram Promaster high top...but mounted right up against the sliding door. I have the tent but haven't installed/used it yet. Im looking forward to using so my cat whom I travel with can have that extended area to use safely. Thanks for sharing helpful video.
Great video. We picked up the same awning and room a couple years back for our GX. It just survived 60+mph winds and a sandstorm in the Mojave road last weekend but taking it down in those conditions were brutal. Two other things, the Ironman quick release brackets (~$90) are truly quick release taking less than 30 seconds to take the awning on and off and with a spot for a small padlock to keep the almost honest, honest. And then you can hang it on the wall using wood vertical pegs of the same diameter which fit into the sockets on the awning side. Also, we have a tear forming on the back wall channel fabric where it feeds into the awning channel. Make sure to baby that as it tore pretty easily.
Thanks! Yeah, I have the same issues with the sail track snags. I am currently running the Ironman version with their brackets. Their awning is about half the weight of the ARB. Not sure which I'll go with this summer. I'll probably decide over the next few trips and sell the other one in the spring.
Great video. Very informative and just a pleasure to watch. Wish I had your sang froid. A question : the rear wall that is the vehicle side, what is the width of the opening and where along the 2500mm dimension does it start and stop. Appreciate any feedback.
Great video mate, love the humour 🙂 You've got a new subscriber, we are from Perth, W.Australia. 🙂 We use our 2mtr ARB Awning and Awning Room on our Camper Trailer, so we don't have to detach it from the Car if we want to go for a drive. I sleep in the Awning Room..... and my wife and 7yo son sleep in the Camper Trailers Roof Top Tent (so I can sleep in peace 😉hehe). I looked up your video as I did a silly thing last time and tore open the ARB Room as I used one of those "Drill in" tent pegs and wasn't careful enough (doh!!!), so now I'm looking to replace it with a new one. Cheers, Don (Dons Shed and Xplor Overland)
I haven't bought a room yet, but arb seems to have a quick mount - I have the ironman4x4 awning and it's quick mount allows you to quickly remove it and place the main awning assembly on tarp poles if you take it off the car. Something you might want to check out
We're running the Ironman and their quick mounts now, That's what I was showing in a lot of the screens-room section because the ARB works with both. I tried to take it off the car after it was deployed and it was a shirt show. Had to shout to the neighbor to come over and save me. Have you been able to successfully take it off the car after deployed? Would love to know the technique. My thought was it was doable but only with a couple people and probably better to have it off the car to start.
@@WastingTimeInTheWoods oh yeah sorry I totally skimmed the part of your video where you talk about the arb quick mount - the design of the ironman is alot easier to use and actually functions as a quick and easy to remove system - checkout a video on TH-cam I think there's a few. I haven't tried taking it off while setup but I don't think it would be very hard at all
The aluminum case they now come with is better in the desert. less UV damage to old canvas case and zipper does not succumb to the dusted elements(sand) in the desert. Also they have wind breaks for and aft to minimize wind effects/damage. they also make a side wind break but it currently precludes the use of the slide track on that side for the tent. needs to be able to do both and needs a modification to do that. Also with a stove jack this can be a warm little environment bhy adding a wood burning stove.
Great video. I just picked this combo up a few weeks ago. Being that just about everybody was like you said, backordered for 6 months, I clicked buy on the first place that had one in stock. Working on getting it mounted for an upcoming trip.
Awesome. I've been running an ironman with their quick releases which are much better also. They say you can remove the awning and set the brackets onto poles but that didn't work too well for me...
Thanks! Yeah, we're talking about swapping our Napier Outdoors for a T4 this year but holding onto the Deluxe room also. Jill loves having it as a living room when we do longer base camp set-ups.
Great video, ? I'm building a diy camper on an old pop-up frame, if I was to attach this on the side, and it has a swing out door. What is the overall height of the awning top.
Thx! The awning height is dictated by whatever you attach it to and how high you raise the poles. It's really the screen room that would be your limiting factor. The walls are about 6.5-7' tall. Go any higher than that and you'll make a taco out of the floor. Mmmmm.... tacos.
The thing I hate about the arb is the flimsy floor and the straps that hold the rolled up awning inside the cover. Cheap and dry rot over time. They could have done better. I have a different company that has an awning and a tent room. Although it has a smaller width, it is my go-to every time I go out. It's floor is much better quality .
Yeah, my floor has a small tear from where I pulled a steak out using the steak tiedown strap. I wish it was a little thicker, too, what brand do you have? I hear the Iron Man tent has a removable floor.
Do you know the approximate size of the room once it’s stuffed in the bag? I’m shopping for a tote for the one I’m waiting on (looks at watch) and want to get the right size.
Awning yes. Awning room, em. If someone, one day, can show me the logic over a real tent (that can withstand wind, is quicker to set up, is not attached to the car, is made from proper tent material, has separate sleeping space, is totally bug proof, is cheaper, and and and) then i will try once again with the awning room i bought two years ago and have used once to only stand their looking at it scratching me head as to its use.
It does have its drawbacks. We like it because our 9-year-old sleeps in the truck, and we can be connected to her. But in general, we like our Gazelle better. Switching to a 270 Awning this summer, though, so I'll probably get rid of the awning room.
The channel is awesome. The content is great and the jokes are 🤌🏼!!! Subscribed!

Good idea. I have that awning
We have this exact setup on our GX! We have a Prinsu rack as well as their quick connectors. It’s a much better solution than the ARB’s.

Gotta love what you do to save a few bucks. If only we got paid for that effort. Have you looked into a nice popup ground tent like Gazelle offers?
Thanks! Yeah, we're talking about swapping our Napier Outdoors for a T4 this year but holding onto the Deluxe room also. Jill loves having it as a living room when we do longer base camp set-ups.

Thx. The arb floor is not detachable unfortunately. The ironman is I believe.
@@WastingTimeInTheWoods thank you , will check it out.
What size air mattress do you use in you tent
We're using this Sierra Designs Queen for the last two seasons and LOVE it - amzn.to/43Z0BXA
Ok im asking because i am currently looking to buy one that i can fit a queen
In dying of laughter!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
