- Today we go for a drive in Ulrich's Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, one of the finest sports coupes to come out of Germany, featuring the nasty 6.2L naturally-aspirated V8 under the hood pumping out 480 HP. It sounds gnarly, it drives like an animal, and it will undoubtedly put a smile on your face everytime you drive it. Enjoy!

I'm realizing more and more that Marcus is a different kind of car youtuber and car person in general. Because he doesn't just look at a nice car and go "oh I wish I had that" instead he says "I wonder what that's like to drive?" That's a completely different mentality. Usually if I notice the seats that means they either give me back pain after a short drive or I'm being tossed around side to side in the twisties and holding on for dear life :p So you could say these seats have my approval haha. Didn't even know they were there!

It's actually easy to revive Alcantara. I use Dr. Beesley's microsuede cleaner every year. Makes it look like new. Very easy.

Alcantara is incredibly wear resistant but it does get matted with use. All you need to do is rub it down with a dampened microfiber cloth and it will feel brand new.

this is the facelift edition which has the AMG Speedshift MCT 7 transmission . the speedshift MCT transmission from AMG is not a single or dual-clutch unit , the Speedshift MCT unit is a multi-clutch automatic gearbox. Instead of a torque converter, like conventional automatics, it possesses a “clutch pack,” which includes multiple clutches placed together and controlled separately. It is easily differentiated from dual-clutch automatics because it has a single input shaft. It is currently available in seven-speed and nine-speed versions, these multi-clutch transmissions are usually operated in heavy-duty applications, where an optimal response is required, along with the need to handle a bundle of torque.
It is important not to confuse multi-clutch gearboxes with multi-plate clutches. The latter term refers to the clutch itself, which can be engaged in a manual gearbox.
Multi-clutch transmission are used by various racing cars, but also in heavy machinery. The advantage of this technical solution is using less space for something that can handle more torque and power, all with minimum slip. Reaction time is also an important characteristic, which is significantly improved when compared to a torque converter.

That car can be remapped to 530 horse power. Very insane engine.

engine noise wise the c63 leaves the m3 for dead imho.. but the m3 is the drivers car.

I like a manual too, but if someone gave me the keys to a C63 I wouldnt rubbish it constantly.

Unfortunately Mercedes-Benz no longer offer cars with a manual transmission (at least not in the USA & Canada), and have not done so for several years now.

this car has an MCT, or, MULTI clutch transmission. The old pre facelift model has a single clutch with torque converter.
the late 2009 ones also have mct. i know this because mine's one
i just bought a used 2014 507 edition for my 26th birthday. in comfort mode its a normal mercedes, but in Manuel and u put u floor the paddle, its slightly scary
You need to clean and maintain the alcantara, thats the trick. The guy was probably not informed or didn't care about it.

this is a cool car but i think its more interesting when you all do reviews where people tune and do trial and error building a relationship with there vehicle and sharing their emotional story behind everything rather than someone just getting a nice car

How come this car has automatic rev matching at downshifts while my w204 c63 does not have this feature? The jerks on my c63 downshifts are really annoying.

the only thing i dont like about this model is the tail lights look like the toyota camry 2005, literally almost exact same
with a set of Headers from Supersprint , high flow cat´s and a tune the car gains around 50hp

Would love a C63 with a manual gearbox ! I have a C-class 1.6 amg sport coupe 156 bhp in white with a manual gearbox and much prefer it to an automatic. Everyone complains about Mercedes manual gearbox 's saying their crap, but I don't have any problems with mine and find it a really smooth changer...or maybe I just got one of the good ones ! .I wish Mercedes would introduce more manual stick shifters in their models. BMW and Audi don't seem to have a problem with this.

Originally they came in sedan style, but later they introduced the coupe. Black Series is not available in Canada - closest you can get to the Black Series in Canada is the 507.

Either double clutch or torque converter, Mercedes never used a single clutch in the C63. Should get that right.
Frederik Leon Anlauf - This car has the AMG Speedshift multi-clutch 7-speed transmission (MCT). This is not a dual-clutch transmission (DCT). The MCT does away with the traditional torque converter with lock-up clutch, and replaces it with a wet start-up clutch with the hydraulically operated multi-disc clutch located in an oil bath.

100% pure N/A V8 sound. As real as it gets. They sound like monsters in RL. Even the newer 4.0 biturbo V8 C63's sound pretty amazing.

My mate has this NA version with gutted mufflers. It actually sounds like thunder approaching! The new 4.0 turbo also sounds beautiful. With an aftermarket exhaust, I don't think people would moan about it being boosted👍🏽

You know, you can make videos with just normal sound of the surroundings or even silence? This instead of umpteenth videos on TH-cam being accompanied by douchebag ear polluting music for absolutely no reason. Sometimes, silence is OK.
Second. I know that Petrol is very cheap in the USA, but not so in the UK and Europe. Saying you shouldn't be driving around in comfort mode is ridiculous. The car still makes a wonderful sound and extremely fast. If you drive around in sports mode, the petrol consumption is not great. This car eats 1/3 of a tan very very quickly.

duud its not a single clutch, its a normal automatic with a torque converter.
+La Rocca - The MCT clutch in the C63 is an evolution of the Mercedes-Benz 7G-Tronic box, which now has a wet-clutch instead of a torque converter.

C63 - this thing just keeps accelerating all the way to 285 km/hr with a smooth power band, and that NA 6.2 lt engine sounds way better than the 4 lt V-8 of the BMW.

+Carlos Ortiz - all about personal taste. I love the deep sound of a normally aspirated V8, my son on the other hand loves the sound of a turbo charged motor. Not something to argue over. Pretty much like music I guess. :-)

Actually new automatics from ZF and other upper class manufacturers are like that more or less. They do have 100% gear locking when car as enough speed. Ford and GM are joining this club with their new 10 speed auto.
