- Mercedes fans have lamented the death of the naturally-aspirated 6.2L engine for the last year, after it was replaced by the twin-turbo 4.0L V8 in the new C63. But with new eyes, as a pre-owned car, how does it do?

U can make em into 6 speed manuals, its been done, there was a manual swapped benz on one take before aswell.

Tank is 17 gallons, not 11!
The fuel tank is actually 17.5 gallons. You are definitely spot on about S+ being better when driving at speed. It is what I use at the track. Manual is great (especially with the Eurocharged tune) when cruising because you can control the shifts and noise when confined by speed limits. Keeping it in a lower gear really lets you get the pops and burbles when letting off the gas especially 2nd gear at 30 mph and 3rd gear at 45 mph.
That fan must use the word "Fuck" as periods and commas...

My coworker just bought a 2012 c63 amg coupe used and let me say that this thing is a monster! When I drove it I was smiling ear to ear.

I really enjoy this videos, it's like a podcast but then you get engine noise. And I feel like out of all the car show host, Farah's personality is the most entertaining specially in this sort situation where we have a random person in the car, it's all unscripted and we might come across weird things like stalker-ish fans and runners laying on the road. Kudos to you.
Those wheels do not suit this car. 5 spoke AMGs the only way to go.

BanDiGo Yeah I think he said it in a previous episode (maybe?) that the mic is closer to Matt, hence the volume bias.

Great comments. Couldn't agree more on the C63 AMG. It's a fun road car but if you like manual shifting it's kinda annoying, plus the micro fuel tank.

LOL'd when they talked about the seats and everything went dead quiet for like 10 seconds after Matt called himself fat.
So glad you brought up the un-widened rear fenders. Not just from a tire/grip standpoint, but people can't drop the cars or put wider wheels on. Aesthetically, the owners are limited in what they can do, compared to the M3/4. These people have money and like to differentiate their cars from others on the road. As a previous C63 owner, I heard these gripes from EVERYONE that owned them. From not being able to get nice, concave wheels, to not being able to get some fat drag radials on it.
I was hoping Mercedes had listened for the new car, but that wasn't the case.

Does it really have an 11 gallon tank? I've got a 13 c250 and I put over 14 gallons in it when it's pretty close to empty.

I dont know much about cars so dont judge me on this question, what makes this car down shift so quick...does it have something to to with a light flywheel ?

How’s the reliability on these C63?? Breaks, Plugs, Injectors, etc? They seem well built with one of the best sounding V8 I’ve ever heard! Just saw a couple for sale with 30k miles for 25k!! Think I found my next car

Great episode thanks - the C63 AMG always turns my head, I'd happily own one if I was a little wealthier - didn't know about the tiny fuel tank though, I have a 19 gallon tank currently and couldn't really live with less. I thought crazy VW stalker dude was at least entertaining.

So Matt, what do us guys do next coming from our NA E9X M cars and C63's? Your review of the Dinan M4 really rocked my world as to where to go from my 09 M3. You think if the M4 was a manual you'd have been more impressed by the overall experience? I'm really in pursuit of the theatrics mixed with fun to drive, which has me thinking Cayman but Porsche really charges a pretty penny for anything they do. Vettes are also appealing, but their interiors.... Any insights would be extremely appreciated.
Nathan Barrett I reviewed a manual gearbox M4. It helps, but not that much. The M4 is just too big to be fun, for me anyway. The Cayman S is a phenomenal car if you can stay away from too many options boxes. The new C7 interiors are very solid now; I like them. Just a bit tight for a DD for me. The new 2015 C63S is more of a road car than a weekend car, but it's got the theatrics on lock down, and is the best-behaved AMG gearbox I've used.

11 gallons! my 2000 VW Golf has a 14 gallon tank lol. I guess you gotta make sacrifices for awesomeness sometimes haha, that C63 is one of the few cars with an auto that I'd consider owning...
A friend of mine just got her Mercedes AMG Twin Turbo. She got the recommended training, put the right tires on for the weekend and ran a pretty good lap. She LOVES her Mercedes. Even if the plastic Chevy might be a few seconds faster on a road course lap I'd rather have a Mercedes in my garage than an overpriced plastic Chevy. I'm an old MOPAR guy so I AM biased...
What do you think about new E63 AMG, yesterday i was driving from work and one red 2015 E63 AMG was chillin in front of me at red light sounds amazing tho and it's beautiful car !!?
Milos M Power I love the E63 AMG's as a street car. The additional size, luxuries, and 4-Matic make it better suited to universal road use. The C63 is better than the E on a road course. The E63 a beast for drag races.

10:14 huge gearbox lag from 2nd to 3rd! was not noticeable from 1st to 2nd gear, how is it possible?! and that's without hitting the red zone as you explained in the beginning of the video could be a factor (last 500 rpm thing)
I know it must be annoying having people follow when you're filming, but that guy must have been so excited to see you! But you were so condescending and dismissive of him. However note to everyone up there, it's probably best to wait at their meeting point for when he finishes if you want to say hi.
mrlilmatt123 he followed for 20 minutes, with is girlfriend in the passenger seat on the POSSIBILITY that it was Matt driving. Matt was filming during the encounter.

Just cause he is a fan with nothing better to do, does not make him 'a creeper'. I'd have followed him to their meeting point and said hi after the shoot. He wouldn't of known he was filming though as there was only a go pro in the car, so when he pulled over the fan would have assumed it was a perfect opportunity to say hello.. there was no need to be rude.
I don't think Matt meant to be rude, it just came out that way. He was in the middle of something and the fan was disrupting his work. I would have waited at their starting point for Matt to come back, as you said. That would be the smart thing to do.

Hey Matt, my girlfriend traded her S4 for a Rs7 (yes she did and she was only going for maintenance.. talk about impulsive buying!), and ive had the joy of riding it and its scary fast ... Scary fast. She'll prob end up changing it in a few years, but she only knows audi and so she doesnt go anywhere else. What do you 'recommend' that would be comparable (or maybe less expensive if needed ) in another brand? We live in Quebec, so mind that we have harsh winters here. (I really love your vids btw!)
The fuel tank is not 11 gallons lol. Mines 17.4 roughly. In Canada, 65 Liters.

Video was unwatchable, like slow stop motion. Audio was fine. I have 14,129 kbps line speed and a Ati Radeon 5700 video card. Any ideas on what my problem is?
Some of Matts videos are fine and some, like this one just don't play well.

I wish people would bring Matt more exciting cars. That 500+ hp TT RS was awesome and loved watching Matt's reaction to it. Regular AMG with a mild tune is not very exciting. You know it's fast but nothing special
edit: I would like to see more lower end sports cars like that with 10k that makes them Ferrari fast

Sheru Walia To me the M4 is more of an M3 than the E92. Six cylinder, weight reduced to be close to the E46's one, bonkers look, incredible performances, modern engineering. They got it right with this one, the only downside might be the cabin sound, while the E9x was heavy, much more slower than the CSL, had a not so good looking exterior...

Sheru Walia I don't know about that. The new AMG's are much better than the old cars. I miss the N/A V8 in theory, but the new TT4.0L in the C63S sounds the absolute business and makes stupid power. It's a wonderful engine. Still needs more tire at the rear, but it's probably the best AMG car I've driven so far (except the SLS GT)
TheSmokingTire No matter how good the Twin Turbo system may be, N/A will always feel better to drive. I got the chance to drive a BMW M4 and a 300 SRT. The M4 was faster but i enjoyed the N/A SRT more. (That is my opinion) It seems like more German car makers are switching to Twin Turbo systems. Death of the German N/A V8?
