New subscriber here and I just want to say that you guys are probably my favorite reactor to this series so far. I love that you pay attention to and appreciate the tiniest details (the soundtrack, the composition, the small character interactions, the magic system/lore)! I'm really glad I'll have your reactions to look forward to once this season of Frieren ends.
I started with Frieren, but now I've watched a lot of their Vinland Saga and Mob Psycho videos. Them taking notes and having an actual discussion after each episode makes it so much more interesting to watch
Frieren realising that one of her very few old friends are truly old and dying broke me mannn. That shot of her, alone in the frame looking at Old Man Voll was SO CLEVER. It showed that in the end, she'll be the only one who's left.
In Kraft's statue he's clearly a sword wielder, and the man with him is a priest(?). Maybe after they defeated the demon lord, or after his friend died Kraft started to believe in the goddess and becomes a monk. The subtle story telling is so wonderful.
We actually see the photo magic once before in episode 2. When Heiter saved Fern on the cliff she is clenching a magic photo of her family. :) Its a cool concept to have in this fantasy world for sure.
If you go back and look closely, the mage who took Fern's family photo has the same shaped magic staff as the mage who took Gorilla's & Sein's. Not saying it's the same mage or staff, but... ;) BTW, the 'Fern family photo taken by a mage scene' is an anime exclusive - I didn't see any panel of that scene in the manga.
@@juanthegreat3954It's on episode 2 around the 16 minute mark, the scene where Heiter was talking to little Fern on the cliff and she flashbacks to her mom & dad.
5:41 I wonder... the old man story made Himmel reflected on his relationship with Frieren. Even if he tried to pursue her, then Frieren will be like the old man. 5:55 Himmel talked as if he understood the wife's feeling, that she would be happy
Man, I just realized something. I get that Voll is losing his memory and he didn't remember that Frieren already defeated the Demon King. But I just realized that he didn't even remember his wife wish of peaceful days after the Demon King is defeated. With Himmel he says "My wife wished to see the era of peace that comes after the defeat of the Demon King". With Frieren 80 years later, he says "I hope that beings peace to the land".
I just realized that the Stubborn Old Woman could've given herself that title after meeting Gorilla Warrior. She might've been inspired by him to have a ridiculous, memorable name and told the village to call her that
A note on the Bronze Statue Frieren couldn’t clean: In real life, the Bronze Age is preceded by the Neolithic and Chalcolithic Periods (Stone and Copper, respectively). That detail could be very subtle world building describing the eras of mankind in the world. Kraft’s deeds may predate this world’s Bronze Age and the world will have looked very different.
That's an amazing observation. Thanks! I feel Kraft is the most intriguing side character. Him being a hero who no one remembers....I really want the story to explore Kraft's past.
@@luizputaco5514 I have a whole theory on Gorilla Warrior being the “Hero” in the party Frieren is forming! I think the parallels between the parties of the different eras tell us a lot more than they seem to at first glance. Of course, I’m probably wrong, but speculating wildly is half the fun.
How refreshing to find a channel that actually gives opinions and has a discussion about the show. If only there were more episodes a week instead of one ..
I don't remember if it was from one of the extra pages in the manga, or if it was a promo or just a straight twitter upload, but there's an illustration of Frieren showing Fern and Stark Himmel's poses on like a square in the air just like the mage is shown to take photos lol. Anyway, Abe Tsukasa definitely drew that at one point
I think the image is pure magic and is embued onto something. We've seen Fern has a photo of her parents in a locket as well. I think it lasts beyond the mage and is like some spells that Flamme cast, like that shield around a sapling in the snow that I believe to become the barrier in the city that protects it against the demons in the first major arc. More mystery to Kraft. So cool! What will Sein do? Will he stay or will he go?
I love how this series consistently gives us a new character for like 5-10 minutes and then makes us fall for them, just to punch us right in the feels.
Love your reactions and diving into the details. Keep it up and I'd love to see more reaction to it maybe like 2 times a week or so, because to me, you are the only reactors who are interesting to watch. And I think to a lot of people as well
This episode was great, but every time I watch it I end up disappointed that none of the quests the stubborn old woman gave them had anything to do with rats in her basement or cellar...
When Sein says "Older woman" he means someone more physically and emotionally mature. Not old like the stubborn old lady, and Frieren looks AND acts too much like a child despite being so old. In simpler terms, he's looking for a milf type woman
24:54 I took this as him being insecure or ashamed of having forgotten his wife and not being able to admit to it, in private, with Frieren he confesses.
The discussion between Frieren and Old Man Voll is a bit more deep than it looks, Frieren doesn't tell him that demon king have been defeated, because he'd lost his purpose to protect the village from demons for his wife, he still remember his wife cause of his promise, if he learn than the Demon king has been defeated, it would have a happy short moment but would be sad afterwards cause he would definetely forget his wife since he would have nothing (his promise) to keep remember the past. Frieren understand that not telling him anything is the best for him cause he will stay happy for a longer time as he has to still remember his wife through his promise!

they really are, I started watching them on their Made in Abyss.

They even talk about details that I never found! I hope they watch ATLA next, I'm sure they'll love it🥰
@@pr0x1madigitalThey snagged me during their Made in Abyss run as well, that was such a great time!

And actually, she is terrified for that.
He truly forgot?!
How could this happened……
……What if, one day, I would FORGOT Himmiel?
……WHAT IF ?

great details there!
I thought rather that she remember Gorilla bc she was too stubborn to forget 😅
bro mangaka is spitting fire in every little scene
This show is so good at leaving you speechless. The awe of the characters and their stories is amazing that you can’t help but be fascinated with them

@@luizputaco5514 It’s a long-shot theory, I admit. Maybe one day I’ll make my own video on the subject.
The whole story about Old Man Voll made me cry uncontrollably 😥
One of my favorite episodes, for sure.
36:59 There's a plushie of Frieren getting eaten by mimic. It's so cute

22:30 Himmel vs Kraft; made of different mettle, but no less worthy of rememberance 👊👊

Kraft is such a sleeper AMAZING character, god I wish we got more of him! Very interesting window into a potential future Frieren as well.
34:22 Someone has to tell them about the official "Frieren stuck in a mimic" plush if they somehow still don't know about it, lmao.

I need season 2 announcements as soon as possible.

Frieren saying that she'll carry Voll's memory into the future, his memory that he is losing, is so heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time
Love your reactions and diving into the details. Keep it up and I'd love to see more reaction to it maybe like 2 times a week or so, because to me, you are the only reactors who are interesting to watch. And I think to a lot of people as well

Fern has a photo of her parents too.
It's been a slow season IMO, but this and Apothecary Diaries have been more than compensating.
When Sein says "Older woman" he means someone more physically and emotionally mature. Not old like the stubborn old lady, and Frieren looks AND acts too much like a child despite being so old. In simpler terms, he's looking for a milf type woman
All I want to know is the mystery of the mage that takes these photos of Sein and Ferns family

I took this as him being insecure or ashamed of having forgotten his wife and not being able to admit to it, in private, with Frieren he confesses.

Monk is basicly a battle priest, so Craft combine his job and his decesased friend job 😢
for me gorilla warrior would be their last party member when they meet sein again and they would be the new hero party
By the way, it is Äusserst. Not Äuberst.
Also, Stark seems to connect just as well to strangers as Himmel. But he thinks too little of himself to disagree.
28:53 oh boy
Guys frieren voice actor is also anya voice actor in spy family

frieren and oldman voll love story paralel eac other, that's why himmel hold back to confess directly his feeling.
