In this case if would rather worry about the bottom position on the right stick, on the ally it was kinda uncomfortable for my thumb to reach the full bottom position of the stick. Might be just my problem as I have huge hand.
Brother. I'm not being a heckler and out of all the respect you should have been experienced with the first rog ally before this one. There is no changes. Only minor. It's not worth the price point just to add one or two new features. Save money people buy the first one if you're looking to buy one. Same thing and the new ports still haven't been tested. Considering the original rog ally had a many melting SD card issues overheating and having to stop playing to cool It down I don't see this new one doing better. If anything worse. And I own the rog ally so I have experience with all of this.
So to be clear, they did double the battery size, allowed for full size SSDs, and moved the SD card slot to not be adjacent to the venting which should fix the SD card burning issue. Even though they didnt admit that there was a problem in the first place. Scummy, but theres def more than minor upgrades.
@atinybard6594 those are definitely good updates for sure. The being able to use diff eGpu is a big one for me if possible. Because the overpriced xgmobile is a no go.

@@Jiib4If you are referring to heat, that was apparently never the issue. It's claimed to be based on voltage provided to specific components that came from a specific supplier.
It will charge the battery but if you want to preserve cycle battery life, you can set it to 80% charge and when it hits that it will bypass the battery. Like the Switch you could just leave it plugged in and it wont deteriorate your battery.
I would need to know for sure that the ASUS support in Europe isn't as f**ked as it is in the US. The stuff Gamer's Nexus have uncovered makes me kind of scared for the one ASUS product I already have (my RTX 3080)...
I searched online and the VRR range of the ally seems to be 48-120hz, with LFC for lower framerates, because its freesync premium. So the statement that its 48-60 is very odd! I hope its not true because that is very narrow. what about 60-120? no freesync there? seems like a mistake by the channel
Yeah you might be right, I read it was 48-60 but I could be wrong. What makes it weird if it's 48-120 is that games running at 120fps I had screen tearing, which shouldn't have happened if VRR is working at 120hz. Turning on vysnc solved that issue but again could be down to my pre release test unit.
@@128KB It could be a known issue with VRR where if the game hits the maximum refresh rate, it acts as if exceeding it(reason being most FPS readings are average over time and are not precise, so more than often you do hit 121+ fps). You do get screen tearing for 121+ fps, as its outside of the VRR range and hence inteduces screen tearing. The best solution I found is to cap the frame rate to ~2 fps below max VRR, which is 117-118 FPS. That should fix it for you even with the built in limiter, try it!
A review that doesn’t review the device! Pointless! IG owners want to know performance.. that’s it… OG owners have already bought larger ssd’s, cases, battery packs and done a shit load of software tweaks… let’s see those fps’s!
Why would you think there would be a performance increase with no improvement to the APU? The RAM will be negligible on most games, 10% increase AT MOST
I really like this, but in my country, moneywise is better to get a Steam deck at 325 dollars, buy a 2TB SSD and upgrade to the Steam Deck HD display, that's still going to be like 500 dollars cheaper than the MSRP stated by ASUS here 😢

I feel like this video is overhyped the improved ASUS ROG ALLY. The reason why the original device stood out to me was the color, now that it's black I feel like they are copying other handhelds. I wish they chose other moody or inky colours like charcoal, darker Grey, chocolate or even navy. I'm disappointed that they couldn't capitalise one of the original features that made it unique. Not really an improvement in my eyes. But other features seem to compete with the other handheld devices.
I prefer having a white device too, black makes it look like all the other devices on the market. I also just have a preference for white tech. I wish the X had 2 color options at least
I love my Steam Deck, feel the Price for all version si better then this, I would love to own one but the price stops me, I feel they are just to much from my pocket, I owna Ps5, Xbox Series X, Switch Lite, Swith Oled, used to own a OG switch which traded for a Steam Deck then that Oled came out go that, The two other Hand Held to get are nice but the prices are just to much I rather just save for PC. If it goes on sale maybe I would think about, I do like the black version I couldn't stand the white one, one thing i hated about the Ps5 get to dirty. And now there a new Xbox coming but white just not going to cut it for me, if wanted digital i would get the series S black right nwo before they are gone. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the Steam Deck and think it's a great device for almost everyone, especially those new to PC gaming. However, as a PC gamer at heart and a handheld lover, having a windows handheld like this with the battery/performance etc. makes me so happy I can literally play anything from my 20 years PC collection, especially with all the amazing Game Pass titles on their way etc. It is expensive for me too and will likely be the only reason I won't get one but we'll see, I do have a laptop I hardly use 🤣

Legion Go...8.8 display, and runs those Triple A titles in 1080p or better no problem, im good
Looks great and im chuffed that these companies are doing revisions and expanding the market... however i will never again buy an ASUS product as its an utter crapshoot when it comes to harware longevity/build quality and their customer service and warranties are utterly worthless.. fingers crossed for a Legion GO2
So what SI better ROG all X or Lenovo legion go?

Did they fix the SD Card issue?
I assume so, they've moved it's location
@@Jiib4If you are referring to heat, that was apparently never the issue. It's claimed to be based on voltage provided to specific components that came from a specific supplier.
If plugging in does it bypass the battery?
It will charge the battery but if you want to preserve cycle battery life, you can set it to 80% charge and when it hits that it will bypass the battery. Like the Switch you could just leave it plugged in and it wont deteriorate your battery.
I'll replace my SD with this if XG Mobile is confirmed for compatibility
I would need to know for sure that the ASUS support in Europe isn't as f**ked as it is in the US. The stuff Gamer's Nexus have uncovered makes me kind of scared for the one ASUS product I already have (my RTX 3080)...

Do you know what NVME Model is in the Rog Ally X?
Full size 2280 m.2
@xOverride_ I meant the actual model used in the rog ally X, like Samsung 970 evo etc
I didn't know if it had vibration or not. If it didn't have vibration I wasn't going to get it. But now that I know it does i will get it lol
@@VashxThexStampede yeah definitely has vibration! I was surprised myself when I started using it and found out!
the biggest question for me is, "can it ran Alan Wake 2 decently?" coz if it can't, i don't think it's worth it.
It can there is a lot of gameplay clips in ytube showing how alan wake performs in ally
Is the screen native landscape or is it forced like on the chinese handhelds?
It's native landscape
Can you display on tv or monitor with hdmi
Would this be good to run a ps3 emulator? Also wish it was oled and a 8” screen
The steam deck can run a PS3 emulator so yes.
Ok I gotta ask, where can I get your SHIRT?

@@128KB Cool, I’ll check it out!
Edit: This site is awesome! Thank you
I searched online and the VRR range of the ally seems to be 48-120hz, with LFC for lower framerates, because its freesync premium.
The RAM will be negligible on most games, 10% increase AT MOST
I really like this, but in my country, moneywise is better to get a Steam deck at 325 dollars, buy a 2TB SSD and upgrade to the Steam Deck HD display, that's still going to be like 500 dollars cheaper than the MSRP stated by ASUS here 😢
The base steam deck isn’t even 500 dollars cheaper though so what are you saying?
@@kreptogaming5201 man, here it absolutely is 😵💫
@@kreptogaming5201 here you can find the base steam deck at 260 but, the base new rog ally is near the 880
For the difference you can do what o say on the first comment and still be over 480 dollars away from it
Gladly sponsored by Asus . Thanks for watching .
Nope!
Of course it is 😂

You don't know what he is talking because you don't own ally. Only people who own ally relate to what his experience is. Anyways stick to deck so you won't notice how much deck is lacking.
@@nathanjuan6042 lol I don't ok . I have owned an ally from jun and sold it in January. Although I am happy with the steam deck oled , for the same price legion go is so much better if you are into windows .
Have they improved sleep and resume?
Thats a windows thing
Not sure if you have figured it out already, but yeah, they have!
@@CashSoprano Nice. Have you tried it?
This is pointless if you can't provide performance and battery life metrics. Asus repair and return policy is also a joke atm
Well don't buy direct from Asus then.I have never once in my life delt with the manufacturer when returning a faulty product. Though once Amazon tried to fob me off with Gigabyte for a faulty monitor, I kicked up a stink that I didn't buy direct from them to deal with Gigabyte. Got a full refund there and then 11 months into the warranty.
Buy it straight from store like Best Buy who are way better at handling return, especially when you can just show up to a store in person.
i'll just stick with the steam deck, and use an Egpu if want the extra Power.
not worth paying that Asking price for a Ally X.
I thought the other port is on the bottom. Do both of the usb c port charge the ally x?
Both on top, both charge at least on my pre-release model
If only they would make these different colors one thing that i never understood why only white or black, where the purple man.

pretty sure it is otherwise why else would he get it early and all that.
@@Eskoxo I can assure you it's not. Getting test units pre-release does not mean sponsored. ASUS reached out to us to check it out because our channel focuses on handheld gaming and controllers.
@@128KB did you get to keep the demo unit or have to send it back? was there any money exchanged? these are generally questions i ask as often channels say they are not sponsored but get to keep free stuff

When I clicked on the video I expected the reviewer to say: it's good but steam deck is better like all the other channels do. So I was pleasantly surprised seeing this video. I own the original Rog Ally and I love the device. It plays games better than the Steam Deck ever did. It deserved way more credit. The only problem was the battery. Now with the newer model that problem is solved. I was planning to upgrade to the newer model but after seeing the price I'm going to pass. It Belgium it'll cost €899. €899= $974. The price is ridiculous
How much is the original in your country? Here in America, it's only $100 more at $799.
@@CJTheTokay When I bought it last year in june it was €799. Now you can get the original model for €699. If they asked for the newer model €799 I would consider buying it too.
He's basically saying its better than the SD OLED...which it is but so was the original outside of the battery. Oled users need to hop off this guys channel with all the hate. Lol literally posting hate on every ally X coverage
Yeah I don't get the hate, I personally think they're both excellent devices for different use cases. I'd be happy to own both if I could! Indie and old stuff on the Steam Deck then everything new and multiplayer on the ALLY!
The screen looks similar to SD lcd screen (ips lcd )
There is no comparison . The screen is way better than the LCD steam deck and is also better than the Steam Deck OLED screen . I have the Deck OLED AND THE Ally has the better screen .
@adolfbilic8622 no you Don't have oled sd and x is actually lcd maybe better Picture but not quality after sd oled used LG and Samsung oled not Chinese TV oled plus ally x still not much for steam because it's had no updates no customers care or why steam deck become famous even though there's 7 huandul pc before him had more powerful gpu turbo than sd oled like one x player and Ayaneo, rog ally is just trying to be other steam but in wrong way

No talk about battery life?
As mentioned at the start, this isn't a retail unit and we weren't allowed to talk about performance metrics
@@128KB I guess 👍🏽
why does asus doesn't wanna show the fps?
This is a test model, not a retail model. They don't want TH-camrs telling people certain things that may change
As mentioned above and in the video, this is a test unit not a retail model. The X doesn't release until late July so somethings may change.
Its gonna be more or less similar to rog ally. It should perform similar to Legion go because both has faster ram but just a few fps bump i think.
I found the Ally to be a hot running, fan whining mess. The micro sd issue and their denial ridden customer support killed it for me. $850 after tax dug it up and killed it again.
Too bad it got such a small screen, otherwise I would have bought it.
How is it that every other reviewer can show the fps per voltage and you can't and you're so late to the game? And you're glazing so hard on this thing... I can't take it serious
Lol
Personally I’m getting a legion go
People talk smack about windows handhelds vs steam os but it’s literally the same shit steam os is just an overlay that also works on windows you can turn on big picture to auto boot on the ally and it’s a steam deck with more performance and better compatibility you can just ignore the windows underneath
Totally!

Why not? It seems to be fixed with even more advantages than other devides have
Asus running from it’s accountability
Asus sucks as a company, but, if they have the next interation with a 1080p oled screen. It might be enough to sell me. I love the larger battery and the ram increase. This feels so close to greatness but just not quite there.
Their customers love the VRR screen since it’s fairly exclusive to them, the ally is made for gamers not people that enjoy retro games and emulators

@128KB when I was a young youngin, and bought my first house.
I took two out of 6 credit cards, and kept them safe. I then burnt up every other account I had or could open.
It's only 7 years before these negative accounts fall off your credit. In about 4 years, your credit starts to recover even with the collections (so long as you make your house payment on time).
Be free, go shopping, refurnish the house, buy all the toys you want. Build that TH-cam studio, buy that pool table and jacuzzi.
