The weight you're listing is incorrect btw. Legion Go is 854 grams. The weight you're listing is the Legion Go with controllers detached. Picked up the Ally X after owning the Legion Go since launch and I think the VRR screen really is a game changer. Despite the similar performance, games just look smoother on the X.
Thought that too. I seen that Lenovo plans are to continue support until at least 2029 regardless of newer Legion Go's like the 2nd one. I think the 2nd one through will have the 2nd gen of the AMD z-extreme apu which only improves the cpu side of the chip. The third gen z apu, according to AMD's timeline, will improve the gpu side of the chip improving from the 780m graphics. Which i think is the one I'm going to just end up waiting for. Maybe 2 years and I think this first gen will still be decent when the 3rd gen comes out in a couple years
I have both. The ally screen isnt bad at all. The big screen is dope but i rarely get to use the 1440p. I play connected to the wall all the time. But when i travel, the legion is basically cooked without a power bank even at lower settings.

You can get a battery pack and a 1tb hard drive whenever you want. You can’t add an extra 2inches of screen to the ROG. BTW the Lenovo GO is at 600$ right now for the 500gb. I’d take that and add a 1tb sd card and now you have 1.5tb of space for the cost of the regular 1tb
The rog ally x really set the bar with that 80watt battery. I can't wait to see the next wave of pc handhelds in the coming years. I'll stick with my lcd steam deck until we get true successors. (Rog ally 2, steamdeck 2, legion go 2, msi claw 2)😎 i wonder if alienware, nvidia and razer will ever join the party 🤔
I believe Alienware had a prototype they showed off right after the steam deck was announced but one companies like Asus, Lenovo, and all these handhelds they decided to pull the plug thinking it would attract the attention
Seriously they raised the bar a ton, now competitors gotta follow suit or be get left in the dust. This is why competition is so important. W for consumers
Razer was a forerunner and got financially spanked for their troubles.. I'm thinking they will be the last to jump back into the handheld gaming arena after the original Razer Edge handheld windows pc
For sure. Both these devices are mind blowing. Lenovo always been a great company, and that thing is just dope. Strait windows with those features, like bruhh.. ❤
Tbh the lenovo bigger screen is a massive win for me, and having a track pad is perfect for a OSRS player like me, plus the weight isn't a problem for me anymore because the kick stand is universal, if you are sitting down you can have the kick stand out so you could have it support its own weight while you lay it on your lap, and reduce the weight on your arms to zero lol, but yea if you want to have it airborne then yes it will be heavy, but then you are just being dumb by not utilizing the kick stand. Also the battery life is also a stupid topic... because everywhere we go in 2024 you could 7/10 have it plugged in your car or hotel. I am a truck driver so this is zero issue for me when it comes to battery life, since when using it I am 9/10 have it plugged... The Lenovo Legion go feels like a mobile gaming computer on the go, and everything else feels like a mobile console on the go.
The Legon go is heavier by a lot. The weight you showed for the legion go is without the controllers attached. With the controllers attached it is 854g, pretty much 200g over the Ally X
Og ally owner here. Sold it for the ally x and then sold my ally x for the legion go and haven't looked back. The screen on it is just amazing and the buttons/triggers just feel so much better. The ally x would creak in 3 different areas and I have yet to hear any of that from the go.
same experience, i tried the og ally and legion go side by side in shop and immediately preferred the legion go just because the build quality and buttons feel so much better. Every button and trigger felt cheap on the ally, and the screen is so small i can't read anything. I don't think the Ally X will change one of these things. Also i love the legions versatility. With 3D printed adapters i can turn it into vertical mode and use it like a Nintendo DS. And the Joycons can work like Wiimotes for wii emulation too.
@@derin6205 i havent tested it yet. But 2 players is no problem i think, it worked with my switch too. Depends on the game, 4 player mario Kart should work with this screen size
It depends on what you want: - bigger more detailed screen with trackpad or even a detachable “mouse”? The Legion Go - you want 24 GB of ram with a big battery? Ally X I find the Ally (X) screen way too small and no trackpad, so my decision was easy and I’m happy
I bought LeGo for 750€ in Spain, Ally X is 150€ more expensive. For health reasons I can’t sit on a chair after work for just playing so I use the handheld mostly at home and LeGo became a perfect substitute for Steamdeck in my case. I love that massive screen, and battery is not an issue playing at home. I also have a 60€ power bank that works well with the Legion Go (Baseus 65W). On the contrary more ram avoids tinkering with the VRAM in more demanding games, in case of Ally X, but I don’t think is really a big deal.
@@fevad1246 Ally X has 24Gb RAM and LeGo has 16Gb. Since memory is shared between system and graphics chip, you can asign how much you asign to system or virtual menory for graphics (VRAM), usually 4GB-6GB. Nevertheless is not a problem at all in LeGo, games work great. In heavy duty (30w) lasts 1h. At 25W 1:30h and 20W up to 2h. With old games or emulation you can set 15W and get more than 2h. In Ally X you have 75% more battery 80Kwh vs 49 in the LeGo.
Same here....ally x has no flaws for me...but I heard about the bad speakers and fan and battery on the legion go...but the screen..removable controllers and touchpad..I like a lot.... but I also don't wanna be glued to a socket because of bad batteries so I'm conflicted lol
@@kestonedwards8142 if they come out with a legion go that has an extended battery life, SIMILAR to what Rog did with the ally X, I might have to sell this. But the Rog ally X has been special. Even got my wife one and she loves it.
Believe me the legion go is the way to go not only because the perfect customer support (had small problem with the sticks and they send me a new left controller) you can do so many thing and even use it as a tablet

Great video is always CJ
I have both and love both. They are both fantastic at different things. the ally to me is not a windows machine. if it came with steam os it would shine for on the go quick gaming sessions. For a windows machine, legion go offers way more with the bigger better looking screen, detachable controllers, and clutch kickstand. It's nice to prop it up in bed and throw on my vr glasses and game with the remotes detached

Great review! I really enjoyed your keypoints for each system. I've had the Legion Go since release and it has come a long way driver wise. I have now replaced my laptop with my GO as my daily school computer lol
I'm going to say it again and again, Legion Go is the most immersive and innovative handheld to this day. The updates came quickly, and it made this device very promising. I have mine since launch, and I immediately dropped my Steam deck LCD and instead Oled. stuck with Legion, which is the true upgrade. Windows is the only way to play those triple A titles without out the headache of Linux trying to run them on low settings smh ...I don't complain about battery life when you can just charge up when you want to. I have a portable battery charger that can get the job done for Travel as well. Legion is the Beast. as that 8.8-inch display hits different. I love it also when I remotely play PS5. waiting for Legion 2 😎👍🏽
@Isaypreach @Isaypreach there is an app called PS play, and you pay for it $14 bucks total, they send you a key to open it up to your PS5, I believe its better then Chiaki which works best for Steam deck ...PS play works better with Windows but you just have to play..there is a video on it I'll see if I can find it and send the link

I have the legion go and love it, my ally x shows up tomorrow. The problem I have with my legion go is i have to constantly be on the charger and the resolution with some games don’t fit or take one finessing to get work. Excited to play with the ally x.
I love it! The form factor is great and less cumbersome in my hands the performance is basically the same but honestly it's nice going back to 1080p as most games work well with it. The battery life is just *chefs kiss* it's now my daily driver, I do miss the big screen from the LEGO but definitely don't miss the bad battery life
I was say the Rog Ally due to 32GB of RAM speakers and, they also handle Windows the best also VRR but, LegionGo is my daily driver just love the bigger screen.
I don't game on the go, but I wanted something portable when I'm visiting family, so the Legion Go was perfect for me. And the fact it is full Windows means I don't have to bring my laptop anymore.
The screen on the Go is amazing.. so much better for productivity but it kills the GPU, you find yourself lowering the resolution to get better performance and some games just don't perform like Moto gp... Ergonomics aren't good, FPS mode is just awkward and the speakers don't do a good job even when you add the audio tweaks.. The Ally is just so much better.. and the X is a great upgrade over the OG Ally.
You know what? They are not fighting in the same category! The RAX and the LG have different targets.. It's all about balance between performance, ergonomy, display, and versatility. I literally run Solidworks 2024 smoothly with pretty complex projects. The Legion has no comparison. That bein' said, I'll stick to my LG
Try GeForce Now Ultimate on the Legion Go. It might be the only handheld that lets you play the latest Triple A games in 2k @144fps from a reputable manufacturer. This should also grant you longer game sessions and overall hardware longevity since the heavy lifting isn't being done locally.
@@MrKayzeemoschino Definitely, but the screen is only 1080p. 2k gaming with max settings on a handheld should be a truly next level experience. I'm surprised there aren't any videos of people testing this out.

I had my heart set on the ROG Ally X over the Legion Go, but when I went into Best Buy to purchase the Ally X I saw how small the screen was, and it felt cheap compared to the Legion Go. Loving my purchase so far. Legion go has been great.
The Ally X is better in almost every way...except the main reason that counts - the screen. Gaming on the Legion is night and day compared to the Ally. Or any 7 incher, for that matter. It's second to none experience right now. Especially if you mostly play at home.
Which one would be more user-friendly for someone who doesn't really game as much? I want to get a Windows handheld for my wife, and I was thinking she would like the go more. The removable controllers and bigger screen would be nice for her. She used to play the switch with the controllers off of it.
Your video was very informative and I understand why the Ally X won you over. I am going to have a look at the store when the Ally X releases in my country.
I like the Legion Go more I'm just waiting for the next one rite now I may get the Asus and when the next Legion go come out definitely picking it up. Need 2 gaming PC.
Because I have a gaming laptop, I can't see the appeal of Legion Go, if I want a handheld, I'd want true "handheld-able" and portability, even Ally X is a bit too big for me.
as legion go and og ally user, I can say if u use it mainly for gaming choose ally x, since it fixed the main problem of og ally battery and ports. as for me i only have og ally so i dont use it often. as for legion go, ive been used it as my main device to replace my laptop for good, so i can go outside for gaming and working sessions, but the cons are obviously its ergonomics, software optimizaion, and the fact its screen is originally in portrait, so u will have some problem with some software.
I use my Legion go for almost everything. I have a msi raider 3080 thats become pretty much a television because all my gaming and everyday browsing can be done on the go. Not to mention that I use it to make music and it handles FL studio and pro tools like a champ. When it comes to copying speeds tho, my msi is the number 1 choice because copying large files takes 3 times longer on my legion go
The 16x9 vs 16x10 point is moot anymore. Many games support both. The screen on the LeGo is large enough so that the black bars above and below in 16x9 games aren't a big deal. 16x10 really shines when emulating old consoles for games without widescreen patches. The added vertical space is a huge benefit.
If you want a bigger screen more immersive experience go with the legion go but if you want a better battery life go with the ally x. Performance is almost identical
I wish the d-pad was better on LeGO, I mostly play fighting games. The diagonal inputs can be quite inconsistent. No I will not play fighting games with an analog stick.
I have the Lenovo and the ASUS, I love the Lenovo display size, but also hate the Lenovo size, I’ll usually use the Lenovo in the house, and the asus if I have to travel
ally x hands down .I returne my legion go its just too heavy over long period of time plus battery is useless barely 2 hours in balance mode and not even 1 hour in turbo mode
definitely gonna get the Legion GO so I can get a gaming pc and a drawing tablet in one instead of having to buy a 800 dollar drawing tablet by itself off amazon lol
I think whichever one you go with, you’ll be happy with it. Let’s face it, they really aren’t THAT much different. These videos try to make these differences much bigger than they are. However, that screen is a major difference…especially for older gamers or those who’s sight isn’t the best. I have the Legion Go, I love it. Just make sure you install the latest video drivers. I may also get the rog ally x when I see a deal. Or wait for the Legion Go 2. But, either way, you’re going to be happy either way you go. Also, you made way too much of a deal over the battery. What are you talking, an extra 30 minutes? In game time that is nothing and by no means a deal breaker.
I think the Legion Go is currently the best handled gaming PC on the market. The Steamdeck is awesome and all but it's significantly underpowered by 2004 standards. The Legion Go will play literally anything, it's almost 9 teraflops, the PS5 is 10. It's basically a 780m iGPU and they are almost like magic.
I own Ally X and my brother owns Go and from what I gathered tailored to you, Legion Go - ‘Better PC’ -trackpad is way efficient as a PC, better display and colours. Decent gaming experience. Immersive but not smooth. Way better ergonomics. Ally X- Best PC- 50% more faster ram is noticeable, better docked. Faster charging. Better quality build. Way smoother frames at higher resolution. If you want a stay at home king, the go is TOP. Outside and gaming focused, Ally X
@ dam, already sent it and got the ally x.. but so far no regrets. Now im only concerned taking an 800 dollar device out the house it never leaving my sight or grasp 🤣
The Legion Go is just perfect though, especially if you use a battery pack with it. The Biggest screen and detachable controllers plus true customization options are just superior and the New Legion Go 2 and Legion Go Lite were just leaked, so I can't wait to see what the NEW ones are gonna be like? I hope they keep the screen size and upgrade it to OLED plus it's pretty much guaranteed it is going to be way more powerful with tons more battery life. It's likely gonna cost us though, but you get what you pay for.

It depends. - If you want decent performance, a massive screen, a trackpad and something that multifunctions as a tablet, go for the legion go - If you want the best possible user experience, OLED screen, trackpads and decent battery go for steam deck oled - If you only care for raw performance and nothing else (well the battery is also decent) the ally x. (Its performance is around 15% better than legion go and 30% better than steam deck)
Awesome review man….the Ally X sounds good but I'm gonna stick with my Legion GO the screen size and 4 back paddles are pretty Important to I don't I can go without lol….ASUS has to at least start putting 4 back paddles on the back to get me more interested.
I feel like the screen and device in general with the Lenovo is just a tad too big. If they made it 7.5” instead of 8” and reworked the controller I think they would have a hit. Also, does the go support gyro?
Right! I remember that’s the main point when I return the Legion Go. It was very heavy, and even more so when you hold it with one hand. And how blurry it looks when playing on a 800p on 1440p screen
I tried the X but simply couldn't accept the downgrade in screen size from using my LLG.. plus you just cant ignore the Elephant in the room and eventually the likeliness is you will have to deal with Asus customer services or their rma process. Not for me thanks.
I would have considered the legion go if it doesnt have the fps mode gimmick with weird buttons designed all over for the fps mode. The detachable controller is nice but the design and ergonomics are terrible it could have been comfy just like a steam deck grip.
They told me that larger display will take more battery life than smaller display smaller display will take less battery power because depends how much power does it needs to deliver from a larger screen or two smaller screen
what? Ally X is not hevier and Legion Go is not 640g- it is 862 (at least mine, spec says 854g). You should feel the difference when having both in hands?
Had lego and sd oled. Just received ally x a few days ago. Thought i cant move on from lego as i play mostly fc24 so the bigger screen helps a lot. Now that i tried x for a few days. Cant stop playing. Surely smaller screen but the battery life is so damn good. Playing fc24 i get almost 3 hours 😁. With lego usually under 1 hours 15 minutes already need to connect to my powerbank. Also the x is so comfortable to held. Also Ally x is so quiet. Barely any noise playing fc24 but smooth 60fps. Really quite a dilemma which one to keep now😂. So hard to play on lego now
I will just say that personally I think the Legion go is more worth it due to the cheaper price but yet amazing performance. Coming from the ROG Ally Z1extreme model to this was an experience for me lol. The higher resolution ( mostly 1200p for performance purposes) is really nice and doesn’t impact performance as you would think it would. In fact I was getting more frames at the same settings in most if not all the games in my collection. Also while nice, the VRR display is not the game changer you may think. I have found my games play smoother on the Legion go despite it not having the feature

Yeah cause I own both and I was like there's no way the Legion go is lighter then the Ally x
Im not giving up my bigger screen on my legion go. Im just going to wait for the legion go 2
likewise
Thought that too. I seen that Lenovo plans are to continue support until at least 2029 regardless of newer Legion Go's like the 2nd one. I think the 2nd one through will have the 2nd gen of the AMD z-extreme apu which only improves the cpu side of the chip. The third gen z apu, according to AMD's timeline, will improve the gpu side of the chip improving from the 780m graphics. Which i think is the one I'm going to just end up waiting for. Maybe 2 years and I think this first gen will still be decent when the 3rd gen comes out in a couple years
Same ally just feels so tiny coming from the Go
I have both.

Loving my Legion Go! It's just a dope device.
I actually replaced my iPad Pro with the Legion Go (I leave the controllers at home). its a very handy portable windows tablet.
Yup accidentally quoted the without controller weight
Og ally owner here. Sold it for the ally x and then sold my ally x for the legion go and haven't looked back. The screen on it is just amazing and the buttons/triggers just feel so much better. The ally x would creak in 3 different areas and I have yet to hear any of that from the go.
I have both and I honestly use my ally way more than my legion go
same experience, i tried the og ally and legion go side by side in shop and immediately preferred the legion go just because the build quality and buttons feel so much better.

It depends on what you want:
- bigger more detailed screen with trackpad or even a detachable “mouse”? The Legion Go
- you want 24 GB of ram with a big battery? Ally X
I find the Ally (X) screen way too small and no trackpad, so my decision was easy and I’m happy
no trackpad? no more need for me to research
But will the gameplay on AAA be differ by the diff in ram?
Ye track pad is a big factor imo
I bought LeGo for 750€ in Spain, Ally X is 150€ more expensive. For health reasons I can’t sit on a chair after work for just playing so I use the handheld mostly at home and LeGo became a perfect substitute for Steamdeck in my case. I love that massive screen, and battery is not an issue playing at home. I also have a 60€ power bank that works well with the Legion Go (Baseus 65W). On the contrary more ram avoids tinkering with the VRAM in more demanding games, in case of Ally X, but I don’t think is really a big deal.
I don't understand the last part please explain again. And how is the battery life exactly (the most heavy usage scenario)

If Asus shrunk the bezels like what Valve did then the refresh would have been 💯 solid. Still happy with my Rogue Ally X though.
How do u get it to play remotely on the ps5?
@Isaypreach @Isaypreach there is an app called PS play, and you pay for it $14 bucks total, they send you a key to open it up to your PS5, I believe its better then Chiaki which works best for Steam deck ...PS play works better with Windows but you just have to play..there is a video on it I'll see if I can find it and send the link

Been waiting for this one CJ. Looking at getting a handheld PC soon
The screen size on the legion go is what i want on the new steam deck.
The Ally is just so much better.. and the X is a great upgrade over the OG Ally.
solid video. very informative. thanks CJ!
No problem. Thanks
For me legion go. Screen better. Battery is no problem when you are always on the side of outlet for charging 😂
😅 I stay plugged in as well
Try GeForce Now Ultimate on the Legion Go. It might be the only handheld that lets you play the latest Triple A games in 2k @144fps from a reputable manufacturer. This should also grant you longer game sessions and overall hardware longevity since the heavy lifting isn't being done locally.

What answer? Rog or legion?
The Ally X is better in almost every way...except the main reason that counts - the screen. Gaming on the Legion is night and day compared to the Ally. Or any 7 incher, for that matter. It's second to none experience right now. Especially if you mostly play at home.
How is it better in every way? Please explain in detail
So which one do you like more.?
Am I the only one that’s confused from this comment.
What is your laptop?
as legion go and og ally user, I can say if u use it mainly for gaming choose ally x, since it fixed the main problem of og ally battery and ports. as for me i only have og ally so i dont use it often.
as for legion go, ive been used it as my main device to replace my laptop for good, so i can go outside for gaming and working sessions, but the cons are obviously its ergonomics, software optimizaion, and the fact its screen is originally in portrait, so u will have some problem with some software.
I use my Legion go for almost everything. I have a msi raider 3080 thats become pretty much a television because all my gaming and everyday browsing can be done on the go. Not to mention that I use it to make music and it handles FL studio and pro tools like a champ. When it comes to copying speeds tho, my msi is the number 1 choice because copying large files takes 3 times longer on my legion go
Say it again for the people in the back 🔥
LLG FOR THE WIN FOR ME!!
Watching on my Go right now
I gave my Go to the kids and kept the Ally X. It's a perfect handheld.
Gonna be waiting the next versions of these 2.

Is the ROG ALLY X still having issues cooking the SD card?
No, they fixed it on the ally x from what I've heard
Bit unfair considering Go is still at 1st gen?
If turning into a handheld that doubles as a PC at the house, which is more beneficial in that aspect?
I own Ally X and my brother owns Go and from what I gathered tailored to you,
Legion Go - ‘Better PC’ -trackpad is way efficient as a PC, better display and colours.
That's not fair comparison. ROG Ally X is an update of ROG Ally. Legion Go 2 will be better than ROG Ally X
