I lived in Guernsey back in the 1980s. Back then I was the wife of a Guernsey Bus driver. Anyway, occasionally Oliver Reed used to meet up with the drivers in a pub for a drink and invite them back to his bar at his house afterwards. One particular evening we all met up at a bar in L'ancresse. Mr Reed was there with his wife Josephine. I found him fascinating. He was intelligent, well-spoken and quite entertaining. I was driving and not drinking. One of the drivers got quite inebriated so between us, Josephine and I managed to get this bloke into the back of the car so that I could drop him off home. One of the drivers who went to Oliver Reed's house afterwards claimed that the door knocker on his front door was a brass willy. So there you are. 🤔☺️
Love Oliver Reed. Glad you got another gig so fast. Hey I live in the States so the chances of me ever reaching Guernsey is less than zero. Your channel is relaxing and fun. Take care.
I remember back in 1975 through to 1977, the Guernsey Press was headlining him several times with his antics in the local pubs and hotels with his “Arm Wrestling” and his Hellraising , he died in 1999 and was buried in Co. Cork Ireland 🇮🇪
Great video, Ross!! I knew he spent some time living in Guernsey, and I know that he was a hell-raiser of the first magnitude, especially when he'd had (quite) a few!! Saw him once on Parkinson, when MP was still of this world, that was the most indecipherable mish-mash of alcoholic befuddlement I've ever seen on TV anywhere!! Anyway, at the end, he stood up to go (or tried to), and then fell backwards and finished up on his khyber pass right in the middle of the studio!! Still, at least the audience seemed to enjoy it. Regards, LS.
There was a snooker room above the garage, and a fairy pixie garden in the corner at the other end of the wall. There was a rhino but I think it was a fibre glass one from one of his films,
Another famous movie star living on Guernsey was Barry Jones, his house is the one at Le Catioroc with the turret, it has an interesting history from the occupation, back in the 60's when I was a kid I would see Mr. Jones regularly walking his Golden Retriever and visited with him a few times at the house, A walk to his place maybe good for a future episode of living on Guernsey?
I remember finding this years ago - and the myth that there is / was a bronze rhino in the garden - not sure on that one, but would be good to find out!

Wasn’t that Broome Hall?
I've noticed how many bungalows are rendered and painted lemon.
