Has been my favourite channel crossing since I did a school trip in the 50s! Back then, the ferries docked in Dieppe town and the station was alongside. It's now quite a hike as the Colbert Bridge is closed for restoration! For travelling to Spain, the overnight crossing was our favourite and got us on the road early enough to be through France in the day. A great effort for your first video.
Thanks for the comment and watching! I will have to try the Spain crossing one day. It's £99 at the moment for a day trip there. I saw some videos of the old train on Dieppe harbour, fascinating. Please watch the sequel if you can, from Rouen to Paris. Carl
@@carlstravelchannel No, I meant the overnight Newhaven-Dieppe. Leaves 23.30 and gets in at 5 or 6 a.m. Time for 40 winks in a cabin. The Portsmouth-Caen (Brit Ferries) is similar, but a lot more expensive I think.
@@LesD9 sorry I misunderstood. At the moment Britanny Ferries has an offer and if you just do a day trip, the cabin prices are 50% off. the ferry fare is £26 return. But max time permitted in France is 1 night.
Was looking forward to a tour of the ship, was disappointed, didn't really need all the station stops on route. Otherwise quite a good informative video, have to look out for part 2
@@alanchandler254 thanks. This was my first video. Please watch my later releases such as Portsmouth to St Malo for more in depth ship tours. And many more to come
@@RUOKH thanks for the feedback, this was my first video. If you watch my subsequent videos of travel / transport they include these things. Maybe one day I will do another of the Dieppe sailing
I would have rather liked to see the internal areas of the ferry as I plan to use it in a few weeks time.... Travel Blogs need to have details, not just loads of camera angles that show very little.... I'm sure you'll start to get it right. I will subscribe and see how it goes...
@@ShanePalmer-yo4og thanks for the feedback. This was my first video. Sadly it was not possible to video the inside of this ship as it was absolutely packed to the gills with people. Not a pleasant experience. But it was the first week of the summer holidays. I've got another ferry journey planned for October where some filming inside is hopefully possible. Plus many more trips coming up. If you check out my latest video of the Concorde in Bristol I've added a lot more commentary and details.
@@carlstravelchannel Hi Carl, What is your next planned Ferry trip (what route/company). It is annoying when a ship is busy as it's hard to get a decent perspective of what it looks like etc.... But I'm sure you'll get the hand of things as time goes on....
@@carlstravelchannel The service to St. Malo is my favourite as it's a "proper" overnight service. One you can relax on and treat it like an overnight cruise. Those to Caen & Cherbourg are a little too short to be real overnight sailings.
@@GaryMoore-ws2ln this isn't mentioned in any text in the video? Are you referring to the subtitles transcript? In which case I cannot change this, as TH-cam automatically generate it through voice recognition

There's a temporary footbridge to replace the Colbert while it's being restored. A godsend for foot passengers!
Looking forward to seeing more from you, Carl!
Thanks! Please subscribe to the channel :) I will put up more for each trip.
I didn't realise you had a TH-cam channel. I'll be looking out for part two.
@@stephenpalcso42 thanks! Yes please subscribe. Part 2 is already up along with a few other videos:)

@carlstravelchannel as they say the best is yet to come, but please keep them impartial.
Was hoping for a review of the ship and its on-board restaurant facilities, also details of how to transfer from Dock to Station in Dieppe.

Just a tip. Gare is pronounced like car but with a g.
