      It is a great video, but you left your turtle in poop until whenever and plop him there, yet you give your gecko space and such, there is a problem with that, sorry. ✌🍁

      @@cindyd.554 I did clean out the poop as soon as we got into twin falls :) if it had been a longer trip, I would have let him soak a bit and swim around in a tupperware, but he did just fine. He’s now got a whole 20 gallon setup to himself and is quite happy ;)

    That is so cool! I just got a baby Southern Painted Turtle last week, he is so cute and I named him Henry, I also happen to be in an internship this summer, I live in Utah and I have an internship in Salt Lake for the University of Utah! Small world right?! I am moving out in a few years so this is super comforting knowing that I can take Henry with me to school. Good for you! Road Tripping is the best!

    I don’t know if you’ll see this but I’m really concerned about my leopard gecko. I took her to the vet like 4 days ago because she wouldn’t eat anything and she was not acting herself. She also had just shed and it was a rough one. She had to have a lot of help getting the skin off and then still had lots of stuck shed and her skin was still dull even after I got the shed off. So when I took her to the vet she was pretty sure that it all was from a bad shed and to soak her in warm water twice a day for the next several days then gradually get down to twice a week because I live in Colorado and it gets very dry. My gecko still won’t eat but she’s drinking. She shed again and it’s been less than a week since the first shed. I will say this shed went way faster and she got all the skin off by herself, but she didn’t eat over half of it and left it in the hide. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

    Nice here and update of my Mississippi Map turtle Shelby. She growing and do well.
    I have two questions
    1.why does she dig in her rocks and knock over all her decorations?
    2.why does she eat at her food that falls to the bottom when I feed her a amount for her size and do it everyday enough.she always seems hungry and I want to know why?
    Thanks 😊

    • @thecrazycarchannel709
      @thecrazycarchannel709 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Digging and knocking over everything is just normal for turtles. A sand bodem is way better then rocks for your water qwuality tho. And they can dig better in it.also way more natural for them.

    I thought I was the only one who took reptiles with me, when I go to Mexico, (from Houston Texans to San Luis) I usually take a small tank with rocks and low water levels to at least keep them from drowning, it’s usually a 10 - 20 hour ride, after I arrive, I se up a place for them that is much bigger, I stayed at Mexico GOR 2 weeks and my turtles are doing fine… well one of them since another one annoys the other, then when I come back, I put them in a much bigger tank, I was looking forward to go to pet smart or online shop for high rating equipment, but that’s when I get a bigger tank, my recent tank I got them was big but not enough to fit a basking erea or heater so that’s why I’m looking forward to get i big tank, I think I have maybe 100 dollars to buy the tank and equipment, all I need to do is return a heater that I just got because it never turned on, I think pet smart would be better than pet co, the one who sold my bad heater

      Thanks!! It really depends what you’re looking for…i would say musk turtles are more fun to watch, but leopard geckos are better for handling and super fun to feed. Really just different animals - hey but maybe I could do a matchup video for pets vs different kind of pets!

    Hi HI! i'm in need of ALOT of help right now and google isn't really helping me rn so yeah I could really use some advice right now.
    I've been seeing that my turtle's feces are a really dark green/black colour and I've now noticed these tiny red balls floating around in her water. I'm thinking its bladder stones but I'm really not sure and I'm so worried. I've had her for a little less than a year now and she has already had a respiratory problem I'm starting to think I'm doing a terrible job at this turtle parenting thing- I'm unable to make a vet appointment at the moment due to exams so what should I do in the mean time??? she's eating normally and hasn't had a change in behaviour or anything. She's still getting over the respiratory infection so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with that because I'm not seeing any yt videos anywhere on this and I'm just so scared. Can someone help please. Thank You

    What would be the best starter reptile? I am considering a tortoise but I'm not sure that would be the best since its a lifelong commitment (or close to it). I am ALSO considering a musk turtle since they are small and don't need MASSIVE tanks. I also want a small mammal but its pretty hard to determine which I want. If anyone has any advice it'd be greatly appreciated.

      Most reptiles live for a long time but, any reptile can be a starter just do planter of research from plenty of sources (TikTok, TH-cam, Reddit…) I have had a musk turtle they are very easy to care for if you do some research and also have a leopard same situation really comes down to personal preference

    Hi Turtle Girl
    Congrats on your adventures in Colorado. I have a question for your turtle experience. I woke up to a horror flick in my painted turtles 90 gallon aquarium. The night heat bulb for my turtle shattered and pieces were on the basking ramp and in the aquarium!!! I quickly removed our beloved four legged family member into a holding tank so I could clean her aquarium and basking platform and ramp, took the shattered bulb clip bulb holder back to the pet store and they promptly refunded money. Luckily it is summer and the turtle probably does not need a heat source at night...maybe... But this winter my 8 inch painter turtle will need a shatterproof heat source! the day UVA/UVB bulbs and day lamp come in shatterproof but night bulbs do not at the pet store. Do you have any suggestions because I live in a place where our winters are 30 below and I heat the air on the basking platform all winter and Spring.
    Thank you

    • @TheTurtleGirl
      @TheTurtleGirl  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh no!!! Thats super scary. Glad the turtle is doing ok.
      To be honest with you, I wouldn’t worry about night heat. Its natural for the temperature to drop over the evening. If you really just want something to keep up background heat because it gets too cold, look into ceramic heat emitters :) best of luck!

    Hey! Thanks for featuring my comment in the other video I was SOO surprised! Anyway, I'm into axolotls and I got one for my bday in march. So I have kept him and his tank (with sand) smells SO bad. We cleaned, it, emptied the sand and its still bad. He's living in a bowl temporarily. How does ur sand NOT smell?

    • @amanyabandy2281
      @amanyabandy2281 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Once the tank is cycled you shouldn’t worry about this. Please get a large tub for him and some type of air pump in the water. If you feed your axolotl pellets it can make the water smell for a few hours until the filter cleans it all out. The other reason could be your filter. With axolotls you should have a huge filter. Like if you have a 20 gallon long get a filter for a 40 gallon. Hope this helped.

      @Jacksolotl 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thanks

    • @TheTurtleGirl
      @TheTurtleGirl  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm…well for one, try to avoid 100% water changes as you’re basically just resetting the cycle. Like the other commenter said, have a powerful filter, stay on top of water changes and maybe even spot clean every time you see poop!
