- A few years ago, my friend @GregsTurtleHaven, gave our mutual friend Charlie, a hatchling Loggerhead Musk Turtle. He raised it up and enjoyed it. However, he thought that it would get more love/attention under my care. We talked several months ago about it, but I haven't had time to make room for it until now. This is the story about how I got my my new tiny turtle!

I’ve been planning to adopt this Loggerhead Musk Turtle since March, but I haven’t had the time to do so until recently. I’m really excited to share it with you, though, because this is a really interesting species! Even just from the short amount of time, he’s been with me, I can already tell he’s a great addition to the lineup. That said, he needs a name! What do you think we should name him? Don’t know why but when you showed him first time. I was like he looks like a Kenny. Looked up name meaning it’s mean Handsome. Yep he is.
I'd name it Gingerbread/Ginger, since its shell looks a bit like it and you already have Cookie.

If you've got Cookie, who will get very large, then it only seems fitting that the other turtle, who will stay very small, be named Crumb

It looks amazing! I love the botanicals for hiding and snuffling. ... Though foraging is probably a better term for the underwater bit. I'd probably name him Kenny - as in Kenny Loggins.

I love the effort you put into making an interactive habitat for your new turtle even though it’s a temporary home for him. They are such active creatures so I look forward to seeing the next iteration you create for this little guy. If you don’t pick Roosevelt as his name you could always name him after his breeder.

"Wedge" would be a good name. That's a tool used to split wood, and is basically an extra wide axe head, which would be a good reference to the oversized head.

He's amazing. He looks lonely in there. I don't know if they live with other things well though lol. For a name I feel like trooper is a good one. Or Goober. He has a cute as heck goober kind of face. I don't know why that one comes to mind. He's so awesome. I hope he's happy in his new place.

I can think of 3 very fitting names for this little fella: Ivory, Speck(les) or since Cookie is going get quite big, it makes sense to name the little one Crumbles ^_^
I can not wait until you add fish to his Aquarium ( I keep Danios and Endler guppies with my Musk turtle with no problems) ;)

As a child, I used to catch turtles at a local lake. I once caught a large musk turtle that I lovingly named "Big Head Fred." Unfortunately, Fred was eaten by raccoons one night. It would be great if you can name this beautiful turtle the same name so the spirit of Big Head Fred can live on!

The setup looks amazing and your shell friend seems so happy. How handleably are these little guys, anyway? I'm very hands-on with all of my pets and love to pick them up or take them outside into the grass to roam a little. Either way, this little fella got an amazing home to play in!

I've got turtles and I need a bit of advice on how to get them not to eat absolutely everything softer than stone. they'll chew on wood too. they're rescues from houses that couldn't keep them and both of them had bare aquariums for years and before I got them I prepared all bioactive planted setups that I needed to break because they got way too destructive for the environment and to themselves. now I have them in a mostly bare aquarium and they don't suit the aesthetic and my morals on keeping exotic pets, I try to make absolutely sure to give them the most space physically possible and most naturalistic enclosures accurate to their native biomes, but these tiny devils got the best of me and I'm cornered. I tried adjusting their food and feeding them when they started picking the enclosure, but I soon noticed it's not about food, it also should not be about space bc I've seen so so many people with similar turtles in literally 10 or more times smaller planted setups be just fine. I'm really asking if any of you people have had this and overcame it somehow. I'm also really open to learn more stuff about them if you know better. I have two small stinkpots in a 975l tank. thanks already if you have any recommendations!

Loggerhead musks are a very outgoing and inquisitive species. I own a Stripe Necked Musk and it's the same thing. Tanner I'm thinking you could go kinda biotope and maybe put some Banded or Blue Spotted sunfish in there. Or Eastern mud minnows, Pirate perch, etc. Basically any east coast tannin water species that stays relatively small.

Loggerhead reminded me of a beer. And drinking from a stein seemed to fit that. :)

He's beautiful. Since he's a loggerhead, I would name him Paul Bunyan or Babe (the blue ox) in keeping with the lumber theme.
