    Price (as tested) 💲: $94,200
    Powertrain ⚙️: 4.0-liter Flat 6-cylinder
    Output 💪: 394 hp/317 lb-ft of torque
    Transmission 🕹: 7-speed dual-clutch automatic
    0-60 MPH 🚦: 3.8 seconds
    Top Speed 💥: 182 mph
    MPGe (as tested) ⛽️: 19 city/24 hwy/21 combined
    Curb weight ⚖️: 3,224 lbs
    When the latest Cayman and Boxster adopted the 718 nomenclature, they gave up something in return: their flat-six powertrains. Though Porsche's sweet six-cylinder lived in on the 718 Cayman GT4 and 718 Boxster Spyder, lesser variants employed an admittedly punchier, though mournfully bland turbocharged four-cylinder. An available manual gearbox and stirring driving dynamics have kept the 718s sharp in their sports car segments, but Porsche purists crave acoustic character.
    Now it's back. With the introduction of the 718 Cayman GTS 4.0, Porsche's naturally aspirated flat-six returns in a sub-$90,000 middleweight model. With a set of adaptive dampers and more accommodating seats, the GTS 4.0 appears to be a daily driver's alternative to the racier Cayman GT4. But is the high-revving boxer-6 enough to convince shoppers to shell out extra coin over competitors like the BMW M2 CS, Audi TT-RS, and Chevy Corvette? Miles shares his thoughts in this in-depth review.

    With how current motor journalism mostly measures a car’s performance in terms of straight-line acceleration, this review accentuates the sheer importance of suspension, brakes, tyres, and so many other factors of a car’s holistic performance. I am extremely glad that Porsche hasn’t given up striving to not only increase numbers but also refine what’s beyond those numbers. These reviews are always a breath of fresh air.

    You did a great job reviewing this GTS in different situations: in spirited drive, in normal mode as a daily driver, start-stop system... etc. All the other reviews only stated how the long gear ratio puts the car as a bad daily driver, you will be speeding in 3rd gear. However they were driving in Sport or Sport plus mode. As you have demonstrated, in Normal mode, it was in 7th gear at about 55mph. Your review single handedly relief my concern about the long gear ration issues. And you are the only one that showed the manual seat adjustment. Thank you very much.

    Great video 🤓!!! Last February 2023, I acquired my new 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 which has the 4L NA flat six cylinder engine (same unit as a GT4) and a PDK gearbox. Power output (394 bhp) and torque (317 lb-ft) are a nice match to this car's sensible curb weight (~3200 lbs). The color is Gentian Blue metallic with a black/chalk all-leather interior and silver wheel rims. It's definitely an entertaining driver's car!
    So far, I've only done 452 miles but hopefully a lot more this coming Summer! The PDK is also a lot of fun (it's definitely quick) 🤓
    All the best and thanks again from Colorado!

    I’m currently in the market for the same car. As yet, this is the only Miami Blue I’ve seen in a GTS, so I like the rarity of it. Plus, in the sun it puts a smile on your face. Think that GTS pack with the white stitching looks perfect. Yes the interior is a bit dated, but it’s a small price to pay, and I kinda like it. I’m sure the next electric cayman will have all the new electronics, but I like that this is a drivers focussed car, is sold on the car itself.

    • @MilesPerHr

      Two very good cars - completely different driving experiences. The 718 GTS with the manual is an enthusiast's dream: connected, sonorous, and balanced. The C8 is comfortable, exceedingly quick, and (depending on the dealer), priced well. If it's my daily driver, I'd choose the C8. Otherwise, I'm all for the 718 GTS

    notice how the "race-tex" had already taken a set on the driver's side seat bottom and looks mottled. it will be that way forever. and BTW, the trunk will accommodate a set (or two) of golf clubs if the woods are removed and placed in the area over the engine. at least they do in an older cayman and i have no reason to believe the trunk has been reduced in size.

    Miles my man,
    I know this comment is roughly two years out from the initial post date.
    However, have you considered posting a newer video highlighting the Porsche 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 *with a _manual transmission?_
    Having thoroughly scoured YT for (US based) Porsche 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 videos, I have come to the conclusion that there are far too little that portray this model with the six-speed manual. A gearbox that many of the reviewers say they would prefer over the PDK.
    Yet for some odd reason, Porsche tends to loan you [the reviewers] a press car with a plethora of unnecessary options while omitting the more commonly preferred transmission. Only to be followed with some comment along the lines of... _"..though admittedly I would rather have the six speed manual..."_ to quote you in this instance.
    Nevertheless, I always enjoy it when you review high performance cars regardless of the make and model. Your continued dedication to the channel is greatly appreciated brother.
    Stay classy my friend.
    *EDITED for grammar.

    The only thing I dislike about Porsche in general is everything is optional. I bought my first Porsche, a Macan GTS and I wish the sales person went over the standard features and options better. It would be nice to know things that come standard on a Fiesta you have to pay for on a Porsche. LOL

    • @0Turbox
      @0Turbox 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean, it's a luxury feature to be able to choose what you really like and want. The base Cayman cost's "only" 60k. If they only sell some few default configurations, you would never get one for a smaller amount of money.

    • @Topofthelinetommy
      @Topofthelinetommy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@0Turbox I don't think it's a luxury when less expensive brands have higher standard features. That's a poor argument. The only thing you get from Porsche is the driving experience.

    • @0Turbox
      @0Turbox 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Topofthelinetommy You can't compare a low number manufacturer with VW or Toyota, with their high volume production. It's just not possible to have similar costs per parts, compared to say a golf. Porsche offers more, as just driving experience. I could name high reliability for a sports car and overall build quality. You know what it costs for Porsche to offer a different seat belt color? 38.000 €, because every color use slightly different chemicals which have to be crash tested separately. Could they sell their cars cheaper? Sure, they can, they make around 15k per car, but their success isn't guaranteed, so people are willing to pay more to be able to still buy a Porsche in the future. Also, it allows them to offer a wide variety of models no other manufacturer is able to produce. No one cares, if Ford stops building Fiestas, but allot would mourn, if Porsche makes no Sports cars anymore.

    I wish it didn’t cost so much- $90k base price before options and tax, so over $100,000 out the door for sure! Beautiful and fun. BUT NOT FOR THE MIDDLE CLASS WORKING PERSON. For the rest of there’s other more reasonable options: Toyota Supra, Subaru BRZ, Nissan Z (new); Mazda Miata; Ford Mustang; Chevy Camaro and Corvette and even BMWs Z4 or M4. All of these are much cheaper and also fun! But having said that, if you have the extra $100k and you want a great sports car, buy it! (Don’t forget the more expensive running costs too)

PDK is quicker if you are going to track it, and if you live in LA or Chicago it can handle the stop and go traffic with ease. I will use it for weekend drives on twisties and love going through the gears. So my vote is for the manual.
