The _breathing_ forest is something you should seriously avoid!
It's essentially a swamp and the trees have not enough support, thus the roots move in the wind and make the ground even more fluid. You can sink in, or have a tree fall on you...

It's trees growing on top of ledge just under the surface, and the roots can't go deep like they want. Happens all the time in Maine.

the first one is an open air art museum outside death valley on the way to a ghost town in nevada. theres a bunch of cool pieces. i hid in the ghost with the bike and my bf couldn't find me, i scared the shit out of him. it was a great place.

as a truck driver, I can explain the sheep on the roof. It's actually quite simple. See, the driver forgot to close an access hatch to the roof. those kinds of trailers are 2-story, so if the hatch is open a sheep on the upper floor could climb out. by the way, I am a trucker, but I've never actually been in one of those trailers. it just makes sense to me.

Okay so the moth is called a male Tentacle moth, and those things that come out of it are used to attract mates, and it just folds back into itself.

I've seen this before, video from Nova Scotia and from the U.P. of Michigan. it's just thin topsoil over rock, when the wind is strong enough it pushes the trees and their roots heave the soil up as mat, due to the roots. I saw the same thing happen in my backyard many years ago-- a large willow being rocked by the wind and the ground around the trunk moving. Not as dramatic as in this video, but it's a well understood phenomenon.

Although, I'll tell you a weird story from my own personal eperience:
Before retiring, I ran a very large stamping press. We used to blank steel that could be just a few thou. short of half inch thick. Every cycle had about the same db level as a rifle shot.
Someone in a house about half a mile away complained about vibrations from our plant, and that press was seen as the main suspect. But no other houses were complaining, and it seemed to me that the trains that ran on the main line between the plant and the house made more sense as being the culprit.
The guy from the Ministry of Environment sent to investigate said, however, that trains went by and nothing registered. He said you could see the shock waves in a glass of water on their kitchen counter-- just like in "Jurassic Park."
Using more sophisticated equipment, they had us run the press, shut it down, run it again, etc., and it lined up perfectly with the run times on our press.
It had to be our press. And sure enough, a long put off maintenance examination showed that the shock absorbers (alternating plates of steel and rubber) were compressed and no good.
Something about the soil, water table and perhaps particular construction elements pertaining to that house was the reason only that house felt the vibrations from the press.
The earth breathing thing actually has a pretty neat explanation. It's due to the ground around those giant trees being very soft and when the wind picks up and the trees start swaying so do their roots and the ground that holds them.

I've been to the first place. It's a ghost town called Rhyolite on the Nevada border by Death Valley. A bunch of weird art out there. After visiting it on Halloween I raced a tab of acid back to Panamint springs campground where I dressed like the grim reaper and pretended to hitchhike. I then accidentally set my bathrobe on fire while burning Gideon's bibles for warmth. True story.

the forest "breathing" one is simple to explain, it is the interlocking shallow roots of the trees lifting the top soil as the trees move around on a windy day.

This just reminded me, I woke up this morning pissed off about something that happened in a dream, I had to sit on my bed and calm myself down.
I know where the first video is taken, it's in Beaty Nevada, I've been there quite a few times. Outdoor sculptures of ghosts doing everyday tasks and one of thr Last Supper, highly recommended if you're out there with nothing else to do. In that shed they also sell native flutes
I looked on Google Earth and was amazed that a Kia managed to travel all the way to the Nevada open air museum!
The first one, the "crop circle" looks like what people call a meditation maze. You walk the path of the maze, which is often a simple swirl and it helps achieve meditative state.
Now the weird specter shroud people.
I can't say for sure but to me it looks like there are no people in them. You can get plaster and soak linen in it and position it in whatever way you like and when it dries it holds that position firm.
So this appears to be a sculpture, really.

Trees swaying in the wind, and the roots have become loose
Probably not the wind, but definitely a large tree off-camera being moved around and its roots moving the topsoil. The movements seem too deliberate to be the wind, though. Someone's probably just out of the shot pushing and pulling on the tree.
So in places where tree roots can’t dig down deep (places with limited topsoil, for instance) they spread out into a wide mat instead, get all tangled up with their neighbours’ roots and such. If you tried digging around there, you’d probably find there’s a few inches of soil and moss/vegetation, then a few inches of nothing but layered tree roots, and then bedrock.
When something happens to move the trees it also moves their roots, and so you get what looks like the ground breathing. In this case, looks like the wind’s pretty heavy. I, personally, would *not* be hanging around to film that shit, because any one of those trees could go tits up at any moment.

The first thing is just outside Death Valley and is near an old ghost town. There's also a house made of bottles mortared together. I took my family out there this past Spring Break.
