Great discussion. Im a brisbane vegan who participated in my first cube the other week.
With the extra calories argument. Veganism is best discribed as a rights violations perspective rather than a utilitarian one. Its the breeding, enslaving, exploiting. Not only the killing. Crop deaths is not a rights violation. Also a common way to put it is vegan is the moral baseline. Its tje least u can do. Not the most. I loke what paul said.
Also there is a big question mark on reversing heart disease if u look into it.

Are you sure about that question mark? I have heard that arresting heart disease is pretty much accepted (except for special non atherosclerotic cases) and there is good evidence it can be reversed in some cases.
I still hold the same philosophical views in that I think that the arguments that get you to veganism also get you to caloric restriction. But in saying that, my purchasing choices are vegan or atleast much more vegan than prior to engaging with Paul.

the cheesecake was a good talking point, points out that veganism leads into a radical communistic ideal. paul has such a copout answer lol 'don't focus on what i'm not consistent about' lol i didn't know you push back more but i can understand the vibe of the podcast.
