yeah literally just came here from that vid. So much hand motion and so much talking, I just want to know what buttons to click and what buttons do what, etc. He said, "just wanna quickly say this..." I was like no bro you used 30 seconds to say something that's not really necessary! Get to the point man.
Wish there were more like this around. Everyone says their tutorial is easy, but then they speed up and leave little steps out and end up going at a speed that is hard to follow, and sloppily executed. Thanks for this.
Do you know why you have more than 1 million views? because your video is short and efficient, don't stop making this kind of videos, other people last 10 minutes or more to explain this and you just 2 minutes, it is amazing dude!!
what a legend, my exact querie answered in less than 3 minutes, very to the put, good/relevant example of applying this function, i love it. more tutorials need to be like this.
If only other TH-camrs are just like you, straight to the point, teaches under 5min, and easy to understand. but no.. everyone has to have a long intro and sell you their merch.. Great job Michael!
@@Michael_Tierney Hi MIchael I could only get it to work if I targeted the logo layer. Targeting the null layer didn't work for me. Any ideas? Thanks much for the vid!
Thank You! I've been searching and watching videos on tracking for HOURS! This is the simplest and shortest video on the subject and exactly what I needed! :)
Thanks Richard. Glad I could help out and be a "normal & chill human". Ha, I get what you mean, a lots of videos are screaming out for likes or to grab attention. I'm simply creating a video archive for myself as most people take 20 minutes to explain something that could be explained in 2.
I've been a Graphic Designer for more than 4 years already and I keep on forgetting how to do this. And every time I look look for a tutorial on youtube this is the video I click on. Ahahahaa thank you!
You taught me how to so this in 2 and a half mins. Last video I followed to do the same thing was 25 mins long. Very very good, clear, concise and too the point. I have subscribed and will share within my community thank you. 10/10
Dude! I love you! Thank you! I have been going crazy trying to get an effect to track the movement. I've tried it while watching other videos and it never tracked right. You did in 2 minutes what they couldn't do in 10 to 15. Again. Thank you sooooo damn much!
The purpose of the null object is to store all of the tracking data so if you want to attach multiple icons to one tracking point you just pick whip all of them to the null... also it's good practice to keep an organised file if you work in teams.
@@Michael_Tierney I see thank you for response. In that way its useful. But for the purpose of just tracking one object and definitely for beginner I find it easy to track the object directly witout null object as its less confusing
For sure, it's always a hard decision to choose the easiest/most efficient or best practice when teaching as my channel is all about efficiency but I don't want to teach people bad habits. I will try to add little side notes in future tutorials👍
I've been looking for a way to do this, and I had it all the time.. just didn't know how to do it. This video was easy to follow, and I was successful. If you do any 1 on 1, I'll pay.
Excellent tutorial... which was that good in its simplicity that it had me 'smashing' the subscribe button without an annoying presenter telling me too! I had a simple 'remind me how to' request and this video did just that. Great job!
At first I was like wait how do I do this, and now I'm laughing my ass off because my dumb ass thought it was this long drawn out process LOL Thanks for the vid
Thank you for using my music in your video! Happy to see it. But, can you give credit please? ☺️ You can just edit the description to include "Music: Cullah"
Hey, no problem at all :) I already have you credited in the video at 2:12 but have just added it in the description as well. Thanks for making great music.
Meanwhile in other channels: "Hey whatsup youtube it's somebody here with a tutorial for whatever. Before going into the video, dont forget to like, subscribe and hit that bell button. This video is sponsored by SquareSpace, a website to do something blah balh blah"
Thank you this was so perfectly fast and easy to follow unlike many other tutorials I've found trying to do this. I hope you make many other after effects tutorials
Even with this super simple tutorial, I've had no luck with tracking in after effects. I watched the video 3 times and even set up my layers the exact same way. The only difference is that the thing I'm trying to track is not in view until a few more seconds in.
Try this. 1. Click the video you want to 'Track' on the Timeline, and use your mouse to pull the playhead to (that part a few seconds in) that you want to Track. 2. Add your tracker to the object (or pixels) you want to track. 3. Follow this video again. I had a similar problem and this worked for me. ✌️
Thank you for that short and effective video. I was stuck for an hour trying to figure out the steps and you helped me in just a few minutes. Thank you so much.
why do all of the motion track videos tutorial all have just very small movement? i have been trying to find a tutorial were the object to be tracked come in from one side and then goes out the other side. can you do a video were the camera is still and when it moves - were the object moves and when the camera and object moves. thank you
You should split these segments / compositions. What I mean is do two or three or four seperate motion trackings, IF it's too complex for after effects. That's what I'm thinking!
"Hi I'm Michael Townley" OMG, I bet after that one last big strike with Trevor he retired and tried cinema, he failed and now he does tutorials! Epic!!
At the end, you have to drag the swirly thing to the null object for the tracking to set place. I watched this video 10 times just to figure out what I had missed!
Thanks Ryan, I know what you mean. I originally created this tutorial for myself as I had to keep jumping back to other videos that are 10+ minutes long and just needed a quick refresher.
YES! Finally someone who teaches efficiently and doesn't start each with video with "what is up TH-cam, it's ya boi"
Mint Orange lmaooo
XD
Totally agree!!
Also doesn’t start with. ‘So I’m going to open a new composition. We will make it size....’
It's ya boy, chips ahoy

That's what I aim to do, remove the chit-chat and get on with the tutorial :)

What is the purpose of using null object. You can track it directly. Does it work better or what is this about
