yeah literally just came here from that vid. So much hand motion and so much talking, I just want to know what buttons to click and what buttons do what, etc. He said, "just wanna quickly say this..." I was like no bro you used 30 seconds to say something that's not really necessary! Get to the point man.
Wish there were more like this around. Everyone says their tutorial is easy, but then they speed up and leave little steps out and end up going at a speed that is hard to follow, and sloppily executed. Thanks for this.
Do you know why you have more than 1 million views? because your video is short and efficient, don't stop making this kind of videos, other people last 10 minutes or more to explain this and you just 2 minutes, it is amazing dude!!
If only other TH-camrs are just like you, straight to the point, teaches under 5min, and easy to understand. but no.. everyone has to have a long intro and sell you their merch.. Great job Michael!
@@Michael_Tierney Hi MIchael I could only get it to work if I targeted the logo layer. Targeting the null layer didn't work for me. Any ideas? Thanks much for the vid!
what a legend, my exact querie answered in less than 3 minutes, very to the put, good/relevant example of applying this function, i love it. more tutorials need to be like this.
I've been a Graphic Designer for more than 4 years already and I keep on forgetting how to do this. And every time I look look for a tutorial on youtube this is the video I click on. Ahahahaa thank you!
You taught me how to so this in 2 and a half mins. Last video I followed to do the same thing was 25 mins long. Very very good, clear, concise and too the point. I have subscribed and will share within my community thank you. 10/10
Thank You! I've been searching and watching videos on tracking for HOURS! This is the simplest and shortest video on the subject and exactly what I needed! :)
Dude! I love you! Thank you! I have been going crazy trying to get an effect to track the movement. I've tried it while watching other videos and it never tracked right. You did in 2 minutes what they couldn't do in 10 to 15. Again. Thank you sooooo damn much!
Thanks Richard. Glad I could help out and be a "normal & chill human". Ha, I get what you mean, a lots of videos are screaming out for likes or to grab attention. I'm simply creating a video archive for myself as most people take 20 minutes to explain something that could be explained in 2.
Thanks Ryan, I know what you mean. I originally created this tutorial for myself as I had to keep jumping back to other videos that are 10+ minutes long and just needed a quick refresher.
Even with this super simple tutorial, I've had no luck with tracking in after effects. I watched the video 3 times and even set up my layers the exact same way. The only difference is that the thing I'm trying to track is not in view until a few more seconds in.
Try this. 1. Click the video you want to 'Track' on the Timeline, and use your mouse to pull the playhead to (that part a few seconds in) that you want to Track. 2. Add your tracker to the object (or pixels) you want to track. 3. Follow this video again. I had a similar problem and this worked for me. ✌️
I've been looking for a way to do this, and I had it all the time.. just didn't know how to do it. This video was easy to follow, and I was successful. If you do any 1 on 1, I'll pay.
Thank you this was so perfectly fast and easy to follow unlike many other tutorials I've found trying to do this. I hope you make many other after effects tutorials
Meanwhile in other channels: "Hey whatsup youtube it's somebody here with a tutorial for whatever. Before going into the video, dont forget to like, subscribe and hit that bell button. This video is sponsored by SquareSpace, a website to do something blah balh blah"
Excellent tutorial... which was that good in its simplicity that it had me 'smashing' the subscribe button without an annoying presenter telling me too! I had a simple 'remind me how to' request and this video did just that. Great job!
Thank you for that short and effective video. I was stuck for an hour trying to figure out the steps and you helped me in just a few minutes. Thank you so much.
At first I was like wait how do I do this, and now I'm laughing my ass off because my dumb ass thought it was this long drawn out process LOL Thanks for the vid
"Hi I'm Michael Townley" OMG, I bet after that one last big strike with Trevor he retired and tried cinema, he failed and now he does tutorials! Epic!!
That's what I aim to do :) It's crazy that some people go past the 15 minute mark to show a 2 minute thing... Gotta stretch it for those mid roll ads right ;)
Excellent tutorial! Easy to follow and to the point. The only thing I would have liked to have explained in more detail is how the little and big boxes interact, and what making the little one smaller or larger does. But, still, THANK YOU!!
At the end, you have to drag the swirly thing to the null object for the tracking to set place. I watched this video 10 times just to figure out what I had missed!
YES! Finally someone who teaches efficiently and doesn't start each with video with "what is up TH-cam, it's ya boi"
Mint Orange lmaooo
XD
Totally agree!!
Also doesn’t start with. ‘So I’m going to open a new composition. We will make it size....’
It's ya boy, chips ahoy
I'm a simple man. I see a tutorial under 5 minutes, I click.
That's what I aim to do, remove the chit-chat and get on with the tutorial :)
I'm a simple man. I see a man I recognize, I click like
@@Michael_Tierney Then you have succeeded and helped 700,000 people learn how to motion track :)
Peter mckinnon made a video about this, but he explained it in 30 mins, you the MVP
Ha, that's a lot of talking to track something, going all in for that ad revenue.
@@Michael_Tierney It's literally in the recommended videos right next to this one, and I've watched his too! Thank youuuuuuu!!! lol

came from that shit house tutorial. this guy is the fucking shit.
he the god

No worries, glad you liked it :)
so true!
Thank you, for being short, sweet, and to the point. Less than 0.1% of TH-camrs have this ability. You are one of them.
I appreciate that! Time is valuable for us all, and I respect that 🙏
quickest and most efficient tutorial. I've been through so much bullshit in the last 30 minutes
Thanks, that's what I'm aiming for. To make tutorials where I cut out the bullshit :D
7 years later, this is still super helpful! Thank you so much!!
Do you know why you have more than 1 million views? because your video is short and efficient, don't stop making this kind of videos, other people last 10 minutes or more to explain this and you just 2 minutes, it is amazing dude!!
Thanks Kevin, glad I could help. Who likes a 10 minute video when it can be 2 :)
if you cant see all the options make sure you elongate the tracker panel downwards
Ah, thank you!
people who do short tutorials are the MVP of youtube
If only other TH-camrs are just like you, straight to the point, teaches under 5min, and easy to understand. but no.. everyone has to have a long intro and sell you their merch.. Great job Michael!
If only other TH-cam commenters are like you, positive and constructive. Thanks for stopping by :)
@@Michael_Tierney Hi MIchael I could only get it to work if I targeted the logo layer. Targeting the null layer didn't work for me. Any ideas? Thanks much for the vid!
BRILLIANT. aside from the extremely low volume, best tut out there for this. Thank you.
Glad you liked it! Thanks, I have now upgraded my Mic since recording this tutorial. I'll re-record a 2020 update soon :)
Finally, someone explains this in a way that is simple, to the point, and works for me! Thank you so much!
No problem, glad to hear it :)
And once again, the answer I was looking for was just a mouse-click away - this was exactly what I needed to know right now! Thanks!
Glad I could help Niklas, thanks for stopping by :)
I come back to this tutorial at least every 2 years haha like and like again
Don't worry... So do I 😁
what a legend, my exact querie answered in less than 3 minutes, very to the put, good/relevant example of applying this function, i love it. more tutorials need to be like this.
No intro or outro, just a simple tutorial, loved it :)
Thanks. I'm a minimalist :)
even years later i still come back to this video 😄😅 great stuff
Right on point! No side comments, story etc! Just what i need... Thanks man!
No worries :)
Best tutorial ever, straight to business and don't painstakingly explain every step. THANK YOU!
Glad to hear it :)

Thank you for keeping it simple. I probably spent three hours today trying to figure it out without internet access.
THE EFFICIENCY IN HIS TEACHING !
Thanks, glad I could help and not waste any time in the process :)
We need more short tutorials like this
Being made as I type this :)
Greate! In 2.36 min you are able to clearly explain something that others cannot do in a 30-minute video.
Great*

Wow - a tutorial that actually teaches you at a comprehensible pace - thanks
Thanks Kenneth! Glad it was helpful!
I don't remember if I already thanked you for this video. Exactly what I needed. Thanks.
Well Tony, I will happily take two thanks :) Thanks for stopping by :)
We need more people like you. Thank you for being short and straight to te point.
