Besides your very thorough tutorial, I also appreciate that you mention all the shortcuts you use for each command. Often I watch an AfterEffects tutorial and the presenter seems to neglect the fact that not all of us have these shortcuts ingrained in our muscle memories! Thank you.
I have been tracking for several years, but it was always this thingy or that thingy. I only knew what I needed to. This tutorial is great. I finally know what I am looking at. Very well done.
Thanks for this tutorial, this really taught me the steps: 1. Video and composition 2. Null Objekt 3. Tracking 4. text or other adjustments 5. connect these these effects to the null object Greetings to Cologne from Lohmar 👍
Not sure if you planned it but seeing you come up against an issue like you did with the Lens Flare was VERY helpful to see. Your videos are always very detailed and I always learn something new even if its with a topic I am very familiar with already. Happy Holidays!

Beautifully explained and very well paced so thanks a million for your help. I will be watching and learning from all 3 tute's!. Fond regards Pete P.S. - I didn't know about the "1 frame forward/background"
Sorry for the Dumb question .. im very new. I followed your direction but at creating circle at 7:45 to 8:05 ... My screen goes black and all i see is the circle
hey i love this video! i just have one problem. i did everything up until you copy the position to the points of your shape layer tracker thing. But everytime i do that nothing happens to the points on the shape layer. and it seams like you were done after that and it started following the position but mine just doesn't? i really dont know what have done wrong since everything else worked. i know its an older video but i really hope you can help me with this one :/
@@flo.motion the very last part everything worked. When I copy and paste the motion. In your vodeo it shows right after pasting that the lines are tracked mine just doesn't. Nothing happens and idk why
For the motion graphics (like the white circles with connected lines), looks like you created them using masks on white background. Can you also just simply draw a white circle and do the same thing? If so, what is the reason for choosing this method?
I can not get the "Smoother" effect to work in AE? I have tried looking it up but I still can not find anything on it? Do you have or suggest something I could check out that goes more in detail on that effect?
Hey, nothing easier than that. When you already have keyframes on a specific property, like in this case on the postion, all you have to do is change the position and the keyframes get created automatically. So all i did is manually reposition the null object and the keyframes were made for me!
to be honest, I liked the tutorial and it helped for sure, but I was hoping for you to also explain the animations we see at the end. so "this is what we will learn today" kind of missed it's point.
Haha... ok... maybe you missed this, but this is part one of 3 different tracking tutorials. Or even better: simply ask me here, what you missed exactly and I'll try to explain it as good as possible!!
I was trying but my motions was shaking now i saw your video then i'll try after job and where is 3d? you told in start a your hand part, text on your hand
hey! you need to watch part 2 and 3 too! Part one is tracking in After effects! Part 2 Planar Tracking in Mocha and part 3 is 3d tracking in after effects
this tutorial is great thank you so much for sharing! I have two questions. First, in the beginning of the video when you have that line motion tracking your forehead, how were you able to have just the one end of the line moving, while the rest of it was static? Second, how did you get the line to animate as if it's being drawn?
Hi, Thanks!! I only partented one Null to the line and the other one I left static, so only one end is moving. The Animation was done with the "stroke" effect. If you animate the end or start, you will get that look
thanks for the tutorial, just watched part 1 and am wondering how do you manually added keyframes to the bit of the "Farm House" tracking path? was is simply by copy paste on each frame? thanks!!
Hey, I have one question, how did you get the point tracker on your face at the beginning of the video follow the motion of your head so perfectly with there being nearly no distinct features? I would really appreciate an answer.
he, i painted a black dot on my face… so it wasn't that hard to track! also if you have a solid track it is Pretty easy to remove the track point later on!!
Great tutorial! Just one suggestion, decrease the loudness of your music. Its much louder than the rest of the video and always gave me a jumpscare XD. This is the first video I've watched of yours and I'm sure I'll continue to. It would also be nice if you could mention how you animated the lines to grow while tracking
Hey! Thanks for the feedback! I guess in the meantime I have already improved on the sound issue...?? About the lines: there will be a tutorial on that soon!!
Hello i am trying to do a inflation effect that track a specific target. For example, maybe an inflation head but i want to the inflation stay in track to whereever the head moves to. Is there any tutorial for that? Or how to make your puppet effect follow a target?
hey, you can do that by using a simple expression! Simply link the position of the puppet to the position of the track! You can do that by holding down "alt" and click on the position of the puppet, then you will see a "lasso" icon appear! Then simply drag and drop the lasso over the position of you track! Now they are linked to each other! Wherever your track moves, your puppet will move too!!
