I bought one today and the extender shaft part won't come out, I seen others had the same problem. I seen a few others pry there's apart and remove a small washer that's on the last notch inside. you don't have to pry it apart... to get it apart, grasp the handle and put other hand on the the black part that changes the ratcheting direction (grasp that) then just pull apart very easy to do. Take a needle nose or w/e you can grasp the lil washer with on the last notch and take that off.... put screwdriver back together... fixed!
I was able to separate it, but still could not remove the socket to interchange with the magnetic telescope 😏….okay I now see the metal piece embedded in the last notch that is causing it to not be removed! The telescope isn’t that big of a deal to have attached to the screwdriver, so I’m leaving the metal washer for now, but I now know that option and how to remove the socket. Thanks I woulda never figured out to pry the screwdriver apart without breaking it.
The telescoping bit should pull all the way out. Mine did not either so I pulled the ratchet off of the handle and removed the retaining ring so it would. That's how it's supposed to fit in the case.
Mine gets stuck as well and wont completely come out, That is kind of the reason why I bought so I could remove it all and use some impact bits with the quick release.
@@Rumeel12708 Unfortunately I was not able to remove mine at all and believe me I tried. In any case, I had to return it because that ratcheting stop working on it. I decided not to get another one.
Pull the entire ratcheting assembly out. There is a small c-clip holding the extension in place, with the clip removed, the extention will come all the way out and allow for good fitment into the cae...also allows many other options. Simply press the ratcheting assembly back into driver handle
Yes, and the vid on amazon shows it out of the screwdriver, and fitting into the case on the side, next to the magnet. Then the vid shows the driver fitting easily into the case. Plus the magnet is made to go into the locking mechanism, not the end of the 1/4" drive attachment.
Just bought this. If you stick the telescoping piece all the way down it does fit. It is a tight fit but I am able to close the case.
It does not it still hangs out
Thanks for this video. Couldn’t figure out how to make the thing go back down until I saw how you did it.

Thanks for the feedback. I returned mine. For some reason that ratcheting part also stopped working on it.
Thanks, this worked for me :)

How did you pull it apart?
Thanks. I thought I read something about it coming out completely but I didn't try too hard. I'll have to check that again as I haven't used it yet.
@@e.m1369 I put the telescoping end in a vice and pulled by the handle.

Does the handle come apart? I have a bit stuck in the handle and I can not get it out.
@@danaheath-thomas1423 No. But maybe you can pull it out with needle nose pliers.
I’m so pissed off. I got my pieces stuck in there and can’t get them out…
Same problem
It fits, close it all the way

Thanks for the info. I returned this one a while back because it got stuck and would not ratchet anymore. I didn't buy it again.

hello, may i ask if it is possible to disassemble the handle of the screwdriver in order to fit in the case?
No. I tried.
These are good for quick around the house stuff. I keep it in the kitchen drawer
First thing to say regarding Craftsman tools: Made in USA, yes or no. If not made in USA then disclose if Made in China.
You need to pull the telescopic part out and then it fits into the case. See here: th-cam.com/video/v4dBmzj1vJQ/w-d-xo.html
There was a design change… mine has a retaining ring on the inside. Separating the handle you can get to it and remove it 😅
I thought that the ratchet was to come out and can be interchanged with the magnet telescope. However, I can’t take out the racket
Some people say you can, I was not able to do it and didn't want to break it.
Great help! The zipper must be lifted a little so the screwdriver fits completely in the case within the elastic band holder
Thanks for the video! I have a thing for ratcheting screwdrivers.
You're welcome. I'm sure we all have things we like. Unfortunately I returned this one.
