  • Stripers and big porgies were plentiful as waters are coming alive. Flutter Spoons and bucktails were best for the stripers, most of which were in the keeper slot. Porgies were non-stop on jigs tipped with squid.

I just prefer eating other fish, especially fluke.

I have always disagreed with the braid you use.

@@JohnSkinnerFishing well, in the past you’ve used spiderwire and now you’re using seaguar braid (neither of which are “terrible”) but there are much better braids available on mass. I exclusively use braid and I’ve experimented with numerous different types of braid. I’d put seaguar and spiderwire at the bottom of the hierarchy of braid quality

I think everyone agrees that Diawa samurai braid is the best on the market but, I can totally understand not wanting to pay $70 for a 300yd spool

Personally, I prefer suffix 832. It’s an 8 strand braid, which makes it stronger than power pro which is a 4 strand braid. It’s robust, it’s great for surf casting, and it’s durable and ties well. 10 pound test suffix 823 breaks at 29 pounds of pull.

My main braid is Berkley X9. I'll still use Spiderwire Stealth in very rocky areas with big bass. I've been using some Seaguar Smackdown. The specs make it sound thicker than it should be, but the performance and friendliness throwing really light stuff in Florida has been excellent.
