    John, I am from S.C. and have been a life long striper fisherman. I am 72 years young. I started fishing for striper in the early 60s on Lake Murray, Lake Hartwell and Santee Cooper. I would love to come to your area and fish for saltwater Stripers. Would you recommend a guide or two that concentrates on stripers. I really enjoy your vids and have read your last book. 😊

I understand every once in a while its not the worst thing to lose one but one can lose quite a few in my area. TIA

    • @JohnSkinnerFishing
      @JohnSkinnerFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I do plenty topwater. I fish bucktails in the rockiest of areas without loss. Try a lighter weight bucktail.

  • @tonynoon8693
    @tonynoon8693 ปีที่แล้ว

    Got to try some of my skinner bucktails today for the first time. Quick question: the water we were in was like chocolate milk. You literally could not see the jig after you lowered it an inch into the water. Is it better to use one of the scented trailers or should I have moved over to a louder lure like a rattle trap to help the fish hone in on it?

    • @JohnSkinnerFishing
      @JohnSkinnerFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't use scented trailers. Striped bass can hit bucktails 50 feet down on a moonless night in a 5-knot current. They can find your jig in dirty water.

    • @usobninja14
      @usobninja14 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah they will catch fish, usually they do really well if the bait the fish are eating is small, usually the issue with them is the hardware, hooks, split rings and swivels are usually freshwater grade and bend out easily against decent size saltwater fish and also corrode fairly quickly and since they are typically smaller lures, if u try to switch them to heavier duty hardware it will often time affect the action of the lure, so in short yes they do work, sometimes very well and if that’s all they’re hitting on I will certainly use them but there’s better things in my opinion that I reach for first, best thing is to try them out and see how they work for u in your area

    Wow it common to have guys mob you like that after you catch a few? Absolutely shameless

      I don't think they were mobbing me personally, but it's pretty common to have boats go on your drift when they see bent rods that aren't theirs.
