Thanks Pete, I'm a young collector (12 years old) and I got a Sega Saturn last Sunday. I was looking for some good games for it, and this helped me. I only have Panzer Dragoon 2 Zwei right now, and I love it.

***** Mega Man 3? It's great but Mega Man 2 is boss.

This is great! Saturn is an awesome console. It's just too bad that most games are way too expensive to justify a purchase.....

Dragon Force is a must for a sega Saturn. In fact it is worth just getting a Saturn and glueing a copy shut inside. Truly amazing game. Probably the best for the Saturn.

That's an amazing collection. I really appreciate the kind words for NiGHTS JoD, since I think if you exclude the on foot sections and the story bits it is an outstanding game! Also imo PDS has the best combat system in an RPG period!

Great videos as always Pete. I don't own the system...but watching some of these titles...makes me want to purchase one. Panzer Dragoon looks really great!!!
Keep up the great work man.

Love the Sega Saturn, some absolutely classic games on that system.

All in all, Albert Odyssey is not a very good RPG (actually, it pretty much sucks in the in-game battle department, depth of story, etc). However, given the Saturn does not have a large number of RPG's, it's one of the few options worth checking out. With that said, Working Designs made the game incredibly fun by adding an humorous script that's laugh our loud funny. For that reason, it's worth playing. If you can't afford it (it's expensive) just burn it. Fun play through. Thanks Pete!

I have been holding onto games my whole life but I started "collecting" about 12 years ago. I have no idea how many games I have and currently could not even give an estimate.

Which is why I said first "commercially" released game :) I REALLY wish Xtreme came out...I LOVED the fish bowl graphic style it used in it's later development...

Nice collection. I felt compelled to weigh in on Ghen War. I guess you would call it an FPS. Now the controls are a little clumsy but the dark, creepy, 'alien' atmosphere I find very alluring. The way the enemies come at you can freak you out and some of the weapons are quite satisfying when you make a direct hit, think Halo when you land a sticky grenade. I found it pretty tough but I say at the least, give it a shot. I find it to be a highly underplayed and under-appreciated game.

Very informative! I've never owned a Saturn, but I've been wanting to buy one for ages. Apart from a few classics that my friend owned (Virtua Fighter, Clockwork Knight, Bug), I had no idea what else the system had to offer. I'll have to check some of these games out!

  • @PeteDorr

Hey Pete, I was really excited to see another collection video after all this time. I really enjoy them and hope to see more in the future. By the way, there is a feature in the options for Galatic Attack to change the screen from vertical to horizontal. Anyways, thanks for the vid.

I think it's about time for an updated Xbox 360 collection video, Pete. It's been far too long since I've seen those towering stacks of green cases surrounding you. I can only imagine those piles would be touching the ceiling years later since your last collection video :D
Really great looking collection here, Pete. I've yet to get a Saturn, but I definitely hope to at some point. Some great looking gems that I would like to play for sure.

Ah! So jealous of all your amazing Saturn games! Lol. I have 2 games for my Saturn Lol. It's great to see another collection video from you especially since you are like the father of collection videos. All those shiny Working Design games and Panzer Dragoon Saga! You've got a quality collection there. This video gave me some good ideas for non-RPG Saturn games too.
I am intrigued by Lunacy (never heard of it before). Creepy-ish adventure game sounds right up my alley though.

Now you just need Sega Ages. Everyone's sega saturn collection is more or less the same because there are those key gems that make the system worth owning. Your import collection should be really interesting because many of us aren't familiar with all the obscure and random titles that never got released here.

I actually have a copy I'm willing to lend out if your interested Pete. Since I'm a HUGE fan of Working Designs as well. I just don't have the second game that was only in Japan. I think many people that owned a Saturn and had Dragon Force, would buy an English remastered port to Steam, Live and PSN ect. I just wish Sega wouldn't sit on these games as long as they have and make more of them or have them ported correctly. It's good to hear we have some classics coming to Live and other services.

I've always regretted not getting a Saturn when they were current. A lot of the rare stuff is seeing skyrocketing prices nowadays for it. I don't see myself getting Panzer Dragoon Saga anytime soon, but there are still quite a number of Saturn games that I'd like to get. =)

sega saturn is such an underrated system, i just started my collection with Albert Odyssey, which i was lucky enough to find complete but opened for only $50. when you pulled up Astal the memories of me renting the system back in the mid 90's came flooding back. i rented that along with virtua fighter and wanted to get the system soon after but didn't. I have a question for you, how do i get myself one of those cartridges that allow me to play imports? and what would be a fair price?

Still don't have the Panzeer Dragon Saga, but do have the other Panzeer games on Saturn 7 Xbox. For Saturn, I collect only specific games that I want to play, and I often wait years before hunting down Saturn games because of my current gen collecting and my NES and GBA goals being important. Don't know when can splurge around $150 for Panzeer Dragon Saga, lol. But, the 1st Saturn games I'll go aster are in "Shining the Holy Ark" and "Astral."

Great collection, but as some people have mentioned, there are 2 Saturn games that you don't have that are literally in my top 4 or 5 games of all time. Guardian Heroes and Dragon Force. Neither are cheap, but they're cheaper than Panzer Dragoon Saga or Shining Force III and they're both worth owning many times over. If time commitment is an issue, go for Guardian Heroes first, it's a much more fast paced game to get through, but it's set up in a way that it's almost never played the same way twice. So, endless replay value.

  • @SaturnVDP1

Sega designers truly had their heads up their asses with this system and got what they deserved when they were forced to leave the hardware business. Rather than taking the route Nintendo would by taking their old hits and making them a whole experience with the better technology that was available they tried to make new games and failed. We should have gotten Sonic Xtreme, Vectorman 3, Road Rash 3, etc... the Saturn would have been a hit and Sega might stil be making consoles.

Well you definitely picked up most of the true classics that the sega saturn had to offer, but I wonder why sonic 3d blast has so much hate, it was actually one of my favorite sonic games even though I only ever played the genesis version. I'm still two games away from grabbing all the north american anime style games for the sega saturn, the ones I'm missing is strangely enough nights into dreams and christmas nights into dreams. I wonder if lunacy would be considered anime style.
