Thanks for including game play footage! I suggested this on one of your live streams and you said it would be too much work, but this pickup video wouldn't be the same without seeing the games!
This is why I sub to you, you show me games I've never heard of that I would like to pick up in the future. Thanks, gotta add some of these to my JP Saturn.
You are like only one of the few people on TH-cam who talks about japenese imports all around for the Saturn. Actually because of you I had a good insight of what to look for when I started collecting 2 years ago. I deffinatly have more then half of what is mentioned in this video as I type this comment. I bet you could do another one too lol there’s so many out there. I just got Sakura wars 2 literally hours ago at a game shop with the poster! Thanks to a tight Saturn community and patching. Us Americans today can jump into games like the missing shining force scenarios and other long lost rpgs
Me: "Hey, these games look really fun. Now that I have a Saturn, I think I'll pick up a fe-" *Sees game prices* Me: "Hey, these games look really fun. Now that I have a Saturn, I think I'll put Pseudo Saturn on my Action Replay and burn a few."
Import games are my favorite. My Saturn is loaded with lots of them; none of which were brought up in this video! So it is nice to know I now have a whole NEW array of games that await me from the current dozen that I own already. Really is a shame that most of these that are only a "buck" come off as well-over fifty to a hundred. The only game I was willing to cough up that extra dollar for was Bulk Slash as it looks significantly different from any other Saturn game I own and the point in your review that stood out to me the most is the fact that it is 60fps. I do not have a SINGLE 3D Saturn game that is in 60fps yet so this is definitely on my wishlist.
Great video Pete, really interesting and eclectic games you brought back there. I like the look of hissatsu, a bit of a cross between Torumaru and Shonobi X by the looks of it.
I agree with you, i really was hoping pete would post more than 2 videos of him in japan, i was really hoping for a Tokyo video. But since hes not there anymore i guess we won't get anymore, which is sad because his japan visit videos are some of my favourite.
I'm dying to go to japan. Have you done a video about your trip? Maybe just a quick overview of your experience? Id love to hear about it. Glad your back!
Thanks again, Pete. Now I have some more games to be watching for. I had no idea Wizardry was mostly in English. And Hissatsu and the 3D shooters you showed looked pretty good, too. And you're right--you probably don't want to know what they are saying in Steam Hearts.
The only time I ever had a chance to play Battle Garegga was on Mame, and I think the biggest appeal I loved about the game was definitely the music. I absolutely love the soundtrack for that game. Still its nice to know the kind of games you can get out in japan that never made a north American release.
i made a seperate section in my hyperspin build for some of these games. I made a theme for import saturn games with Ione Sky's Sega Saturn ad from back in the day. its so awesome!!
It's not for everyone, but there are a lot of japanese RPGs worth picking up for the Saturn. There's a bit of a language curve you have to get over, but even for RPGs in english, after a while you just learn the patterns and which item/option does what. You don't sit and read what you're doing anymore, it's just pattern recognition. It's the same thing in Japanese. The Langrisser games are the best overall, especially 5 and 3 to a lesser extent. Great strategy gameplay, graphics, and voice acting.
Interesting round of Sega Saturn games. I only have a few, so it's neat to see what random and perverted:p games are on the system. Thanks for sharing!
Some interesting games there Pete. I've seen a few of those such as the muscular shooter and gunbird. I hadn't realised that Gunbird was differently named in the USA.
Great looking games. Some I didnt know about. Elevator Action Returns may be my favorite game on the saturn or close. I just started exploring the system more with emulation. Will definately check these out.
Excellent video Pete! However I don't know if there was something wrong with your copy of Gekioh Shooting King because I have that game and it does indeed have music. It sounds like the Saturn version uses the chip music of the arcade while the Playstation version uses CD recorded music.
Gekioh has music, maybe your disc has an error. I have a copy, looks mint too, of Darkstalkers for the Japanese PS1. The music will not play on a PS2, nor on PS1 emulators but I know the game has music, it's likely just an error with the disc.
Random question: Do you know if the PAL version of Deep Fear crashes on NTSC consoles as rumors have suggested? There seems to be conflicting answers on this as it was not a PAL optimized release so it should run fine. Thanks in advance
Hey Pete,Good games and info about them.Do all Japan Sega Saturn games come in the CD Album case size? Cause the USA Sega Saturn games come in those big book size cases. Peace.
Great video man. Iv really been wanting to pic up a Saturn. Maybe you said this in your video and i missed it but Do Japanese games work on an American console?
I love the Saturn but it hard to get the games do anybody know a best website that sell Saturn games beside eBay and Amazon I would really appreciate it
Really hardcore selection of titles. I hadn't even heard of Bulk Slash and I thought I was familiar with most ntsc-j saturn games... looks good. And I've been thinking about g.vector for a while but am still undecided. Necronomicon is among the top 10 best videogame pinballs out there, although not quite as good as its saturn predecessor Last Gladiators.
Because the usage of English is considered to be exotic in Japan, so it's cool for them, hence the reason why so many J-Pop songs have some random english words in them.
I was watching your stream of Battle Gragerra until it messed up, lol. It was a great looking shmup and looks great. So you'll play Steam Harts but no English Cram School? G Vector looks great, you pointed me to VavArk on PS1 as on-rails shooters are one of my favorite genres that is very under appreciated. (Would love an on-rails 3d shooter video, none on TH-cam yet!) I know MJR is jelly of Necronomicon, I sure am. I bought Cho Aniki import for TG16 on my Wii and it looks a lot more tame.
Thanks for including game play footage! I suggested this on one of your live streams and you said it would be too much work, but this pickup video wouldn't be the same without seeing the games!
Great to have you back Pete and i can't wait for the other videos
I always love your videos Pete, I'm not totally sure exactly why but whenever I watch one it makes me happy and smile
This is why I sub to you, you show me games I've never heard of that I would like to pick up in the future. Thanks, gotta add some of these to my JP Saturn.
Bet the value of these games has increased a lot since he bought them
good to see you back & uploading videos
Oh I just found the links for the update videos. Anyway glad your back, can't wait to see the pickup videos!

Battle Garegga is 250 bucks on ebay. the fuck!!!!
tHeWasTeDYouTh Just make a copy from iso sites and play it in your saturn with psuedo cart i did worka great i cant afford it either.

Worth the wait, Pete. A blast, as always.
Welcome back Pete :) We've missed you.
your room should be a museum honestly you have some amazing stuff !!!
Dude glad to see your doing your thing again
Welcome back Pete. Great video sir.

Great Video Pete. I always learn about some new games!
Great video Pete, really interesting and eclectic games you brought back there. I like the look of hissatsu, a bit of a cross between Torumaru and Shonobi X by the looks of it.
Quality Pete ! Saturn is a great system ! Glad you had a good time in Japan :-)
I agree with you, i really was hoping pete would post more than 2 videos of him in japan, i was really hoping for a Tokyo video. But since hes not there anymore i guess we won't get anymore, which is sad because his japan visit videos are some of my favourite.

Welcome back!
Cool video Pete, lots of interesting JP shooters!
great stuff pete i like your new video layouts how you stand the games up.
instead of waving the game aorund
Note to self, get Steam Hearts
Hope you keep the gameplay footage. Much more interesting to watch
Welcome back Pete good video :-)
You promised us "bought in Japan" for PCE and other systems, where are those videos? This was a good watch, was hoping for more.
i made a seperate section in my hyperspin build for some of these games. I made a theme for import saturn games with Ione Sky's Sega Saturn ad from back in the day. its so awesome!!
He's back !!!!!!

Great video as usual Pete.
that so cool man and i really want to go to japan these days, but cool games you got from japan, totally awesome.
Nice selection of games.I recommend Sol Divide, Sengoku Blade, Hyper Duel, Dodonpachi.
I love how the ad comes at the end of the video. . . Like I'm really going to stick around to watch an ad. I came to see Pete, not a pizza ad.
Pete, I love you man. hope you can get some sleep to get back to suitable hours.
Looking to start a shmups collection. Thanks for the ones you showed.
welcome back :D
great video and thanks for sharing Pete!!!
Nice, new vid! Thanks for putting this up
Great Pickups for the Saturn!
Long time no see!!!, great vid.
That's a nice set of pick ups there Pete!
Pete!! I missed your nerdiness! :-)
Interesting round of Sega Saturn games. I only have a few, so it's neat to see what random and perverted:p games are on the system. Thanks for sharing!
That live stream you did on Steam Hearts and Cho Aniki was hilarious! Also, you should go back to doing some quickplays.
Nice vid, man. I need to hurry up and add Battle Garegga to my collection before it gets even MORE expensive!
Elevator Action Returns is a great arcade. And it's also available on the Taito Legends 2 for the PS2 in the US.
Gvector reminds me of the space ship you could watch if you put audio CDs in the Saturn
Some interesting games there Pete. I've seen a few of those such as the muscular shooter and gunbird. I hadn't realised that Gunbird was differently named in the USA.
7:11 That Game Looks So Awesome Along with the 1st Side-Scrolling Shooters!
That samurai platform game looks really interesting to me. I really wanna play it.
I remember now, if I ever played Gunbird at Arcade games. Thanks :)
All those games and I only have one of them in my SS collection - and I live in Japan. Lucky guy.
love the presentation.
Great looking games. Some I didnt know about. Elevator Action Returns may be my favorite game on the saturn or close. I just started exploring the system more with emulation. Will definately check these out.

I played Gekioh on PS1. I thought there was something wrong with my copy since it didn't have any music.
Cho Aniki is one of those games that completely lives up to the phrase "Only in Japan"
Gekioh has music, maybe your disc has an error. I have a copy, looks mint too, of Darkstalkers for the Japanese PS1. The music will not play on a PS2, nor on PS1 emulators but I know the game has music, it's likely just an error with the disc.

Pete the skeet door back at it again
you picked out amazing games!!! lucky
Nice, how many games did you get in total? When I visited Japan earlier this year, I filled one of my suitcases with two consoles that I bought. :)
something about the Cho Aniki game seems to remind me of the Sega Arcade game, "Altered Beast"
Great video man. Iv really been wanting to pic up a Saturn. Maybe you said this in your video and i missed it but Do Japanese games work on an American console?
Gunbird's great! Some people slag off the Psikyo shooters a bit but I do enjoy them.
Wizardry on the saturn is very easy to play for non J speakers for sure. It actually helped me learn kana faster :)
gekido for ps1 does have backround music
That Bouncer keyhole is fucking awesome
Thanks for the review! Steam Hearts is going into the obscure section :)
Cant make a video about you talking about your experiences in Japan , the gamestores and Akihabara, Shibuya and such?
Well, I've never seen THAT in a shooter before. Damn...
Did you watch any of the updates? He went there for studies but in free time went and shopped for games
I love the Saturn but it hard to get the games do anybody know a best website that sell Saturn games beside eBay and Amazon I would really appreciate it

Great Saturn games!
Can you tell me what a Saturn console is averagely priced in Japan? Are the actual consoles cheaper aswell? Or just the games?
How much money was this Japan trip like 10 grand?! Wow..
Because the usage of English is considered to be exotic in Japan, so it's cool for them, hence the reason why so many J-Pop songs have some random english words in them.
Awesome vid.
Great Video!
Step 1 have a friend living in Japan
Step 2 have Google translate
Step 3 Use Amazon.jp
Step 4 ???
Step 5 Profit
pete the game god
Saturn gots some awesome graphics, real grimy.

Love Saturn! Yeah!
What about the other games for other consoles?
petedorr how many copies of the sega saturn do you own as in how many consoles
Love Bulk Slash!
