You are going to laugh about this, but it's true. I am an old guy that became interested in saddle hunting, so I bought a bunch of gear and learned to climb (SRT style), but old age and old injuries made climbing harder than it should be. I often found myself working way too hard. In my climbing gear I have several sets of high quality, climbing rated pulleys for lifting, hauling, and emergencies, and one day it occurred to me that instead of climbing the trees, I could simply hoist myself into the trees. It didn't take long to assemble a small rigging plate, a couple of pulleys, and a rope into a 3:1 hoist that I can rig into a tree. It is a bit inconvenient to haul the extra gear, but I am able with ease to safely and quietly hoist myself to a good hunting height, and if I am lucky enough to shoot something I have the perfect setup to haul it uphill or to hang it for dressing it. Good pulleys are one of the best tools in a hunter's or mechanic's toolbox.

Super nice pully rig! I hope your neighbors don't mess with you. If they do you can make your same rig in the garage and close the door. A cheap kiddy pool under your deer or pig will catch all the blood. In my area everyone hunts. If a neighbor comes over it is to congratulate you and fish for info on where you killed it, lol. A lot of us do the kiddy pool thing just to keep the blood off the concrete even if we are not inside a garage.

The kiddy pool is a smart idea. So far so good with the neighbors, but generally I’m skinning stuff at night when no one is out.

Awesome. I was just thinking.... Anyone ever giving you the stink eye driving by???? 😂😂😂😂. When we lived on Kessler AFB, I got funny looks, just because my truck was covered in mud😂. Id just smile and wave 👋 😂.
Guess we're less than a year out... PCSing summer 2024. See you on Da range 😊
