We arrived in France on August 5 to the most beautiful boat in the world. Come aboard as we begin to share our adventures on our Windelo 54, Second Star
@@donjobi9400 we do too! We’re having a ball sailing around! It feels very safe and manageable. That was my big fear that a performance catamaran would be too much for us. Although there’s no illusions here that we have this down. But we’re doing fine, actually way better than fine. We’re loving it.
Fantastic boat, I saw it live at an exhibition and said that's it! This enclosed cockpit is such a good thing everything is available to you without being exposed to the elements I wish you many happy miles and fair winds
@@vorda400 thank you so much! The enclosed cockpits are a game changer. Our insurance did not allow us to go south of Cape Hatteras until after December 1, so it was very cold. After our trip around Cape Hatteras, we stopped in Beaufort North Carolina. We met a couple that had just sailed the same exact course that we had. They were practically frost bit and soaking wet and totally miserable. We had to wear a sweater. A very different experience from what they had you just don’t know what you have sometimes. thanks for watching.
@@TobyLovesLife hi Tobi loves life! Very soon I’ll have the Chesapeake adventures online. I never knew there was so much to do on a boat. I never seem to have time to do any of the video editing. I don’t know how these guys do it. Well, I guess it’s their job so maybe that’s what it is. More to follow very shortly hopefully in the next couple of days We will be at the Miami boat show in February if you wanna stop by and say hello
Wow, congratulations! I've been eagerly following your journey since the moment you announced your purchase. I can already feel the excitement building up as we await those thrilling reports of your everyday sailing adventures. The Windelo truly boasts an array of fantastic features that are bound to make every moment on the water absolutely extraordinary. I cannot wait to hear all about your experiences with this remarkable vessel!
@@SailingSecondStar-pj3ww hope it is a good show and that you have a great time if you are on board! I have always thought of myself as a monohull guy but my experience on second star made me think that if I could afford it, I may switch for a Windelo 54. Btw, Gautier is a tremendously nice young man; he was very kind to show us around. He must be great to work with!
@@RebootTheCatamaran that’s so nice of you to say! My husband and I made a deal. He got to choose the layout for the dinghy, mostly because I did not want to jockey seat. So he got that. And I got to design the sail. We even went with octopus, toilet tissue holders, and they’re on our business cards, but we drew the line about there. When the octopus comes out, it is spectacular.
Hey, Capt Randy here. Great video and I enjoyed meeting you and staying at your inn. If you need a great crew member, I'm a licensed 100 ton capt with 40 years of experience. Good luck with your new boat!
@@captrandy3307 you never know! We’ll be at the Miami boat show in February so if you feel like getting out of the cold, come visit us. Lots of sailing ahead so we will keep you posted for sure.
@@bobcalder4996 of course we tend to agree. But I got to say we just sailed from the Bahamas to Fort Lauderdale and did not use 1 ounce of diesel. Now there was plenty of wind, and we use the engines for relatively short periods of time, but it was all powered by battery. We never ran the generator The forward helm is a game changer. Everything is very manageable and right at your fingertips. We couldn’t be happier Come see us at the Miami boat show in February!

Love love love the octopus sail color and Mr Smee 😂. You've had it since August anything you would have chosen different now that your using it and how did you decorate? Living vicariously over here 😊
@@DawnHaiders the octopus sale is on the cover of Sail magazine this month. Can you believe it! We’re pretty happy with all of the decisions that we made. I can’t really think of something that we would do very differently.hmmmm Vicarious living is the way to go, that’s how we ended up buying the boat in the first place we were big TH-cam watchers. We called it boat porn. We go to bed every night and watch boat porn so sad. But now we have a boat, so who cares?
@@clivestainlesssteelwomble7665 that’s so funny! Today I posted a very boring behind the scenes window of training video. But as God is my witness as I “Miss Scarlet, I will get the Chesapeake Bay adventures up online this week if I don’t, please feel free to give me a hard time.
So glad to see you guys.. thats stunning..indeed look at the hulls on that 😂😂😂 😎🧙🏻♂️🇬🇧 Eggs keep longer if not refrigerated as long as you can keep them cool. What speed did you clock when you were throwing up that rooster yail.
Hmmm... it looks like that I have just found a new channel for watching. Loving the Windelo brand and this vessel. Congratulations! Looking forward to following your adventures.
@@donphobos thanks Dan! Maybe a little more content on my end would be really helpful. We actually just dropped the boat off in Fort Lauderdale to get it all pretty for the Miami boat show. So I’m home and have no excuse for not editing any videos. So I swear I will get something out this week.
In Europe we don't refrigerate our eggs. Better hygiene standards at farms mean our eggs don't need to be chemically washed. American farms have lower standards and their eggs need to be washed to remove bacteria etc. When the eggs are treated they also wash the outer membrane off which protects the egg. So these eggs need to be refrigerated as the shell is now porous. European eggs remain protected and sealed and so don't need to be refrigerated. In case it was confusing/worrying you.
You can get American eggs from local farms that don’t need refrigeration, as well. We had four dozen eggs onboard for 45 days in 80 degree heat and they were fine 😁 just has to be local, unwashed farm eggs, which are easy to get here in Florida
@@AdeboFunkyVoodoo eggs and milk in France are definitely then in the United States. That wasn’t so challenging as just figuring out what token was supposed to go in the cart. Or what the heck everything was because it was all in French. But totally fun and a huge adventure and can’t wait to have more.
@@niconico3907 actually there is a table outside that you can have lunch. The inside is not small at all. There’s plenty of space the kitchen great the dining room table is large. Beautiful boat, good choice , what’s your plan to travelling ? Will you bring the boat in Canada ?
❤hopefully one day soon we will get to Canada! Virgin Islands for the winter and hopefully the World ARC in 2025
Looks good..and fast.
Amazing bridge deck with all those windows and sliding doors…but when a wave smashes into them?
Giant waves nearly splash on the “plastic” front windows, if water gets in, it drains before it gets to the sliders. It’s really dry in there.
@@SailingSecondStar-pj3ww …then you haven’t been in giant waves, just big ones….hope you never will be.
