The Windelo 50 and 54 are incredible boats. A bit of an Ikea interior, but that forward cockpit, fully enclosed and all lines leaving to it, is absolutely genius. And right there next to the mast!!!
Thank you so much for keeping your channel fresh with new things to see like this episode. I’ll probably never own a sailboat but I am just fascinated with seeing the life of people who do. Thank you so much for your wonderful show.
No need to apologize for attending this boat show. You are professionals now especially when it comes to multi hulls and sailing now. And you are driving the industry toward electric drive, solar, generation off water current while underway and rain water capture. I love your show. I am patiently waiting to see you take delivery. And this type of show between boats is great.
Living the best life. The Wynns are such a great example that this does not just happen to you. You have to seek it and work at it. Overcome and keep moving back to center. They teach us much more than boating.
I love love LOVE the Windelo line. People knock it for having a bit of an "IKEA touch" on the inside, but I think it's more than made up for with how convertible that boat really is. I too love the deep wood look as much as the traditionalists, but having a boat with sort of blend between outside/inside means those wood materials will be subject to the elements more than perhaps, a fully closed interior might be. As far as the electric drive/diesel range extender idea? I LOVE THAT! Everyone should be doing that. Sailboats tend to be hard on their main engines since you tend to heat cycle them a lot.. Short runs for 5-15 mins to leave the marina, then shut them off. Then just to restart them for another 5-15 mins to moor up or to get into the marina or whatever your situation is. Short runs on engines shortens their lives. This boat on the other hand, will do up to 4 hours at 6kts if my research serves, and only then would run the generator to assist, and the range on the hybrid system alone is incredible. I love the idea of a generator that will run for a few hours to top off batteries and then shut down once no longer needed, and it'll run at a more or less constant RPM and probably last 3-5x longer than most main engines will because it's so controlled, and only occasionally used. The electric motors themselves? It's one moving part vs many on a ICE engine. Reliability shouldn't be much of an issue at all with such a simple design, and Bell, who make the motors/controllers, is a company that is everywhere which means serviceability should be no issue and I'm sure they can "remote in" and solve any software issues as long as you have internet. All that for the 50' version which is a bargain compared to many others of similar size IMHO, starting under 1.5M. I'd do mine with the U shaped galley, the office with dual pullmans forward port, and the bunks on the starboard cabins just like the one shown as well. My only small issue would be the laundry situation is a bit lacking for a live aboard. That tiny washer/dryer would need a lot of runs to do a load of laundry for one person, let alone any guests you might have onboard. I suppose one can customize and add a larger one somewhere if needed. Small potatoes for what is otherwise an amazing concept! Having the forward cockpit is a plus for visibility too, though might prove a bit challenging for docking purposes due to being low/inwards on the boat. Nothing that some practice can't solve!
Windelo is my new lotto boat. The central helms are such a great idea, and I'm sure they make the boat feel smaller and easier to sail compared to 'traditional' cat helms or especially aft helms. 54 foot boat with only about 27 feet in front of you. Outremer definitely has the best 'traditional' cat helms and it's great that closing off the cockpit isn't an afterthought either.
I just love you guys! What a nice, genuine ending. I know you hit a bit of a bump recently but you are recovering very strong. Your analytical minds and positive outlooks are a huge part of why I enjoy watching your videos. It's actually quite nice to see you guys somewhere besides your own boat doing your "regular" lifestyle. Cheers my dears! 🙏🏽💓
Intetesting! But there is no stop on continuing development. My priorities would be 1) Safety, seaworthiness and robustness. Huge windows and square portholes is a nono 2)Sailability, stability, performance, ease of use of winches etc. 3) Practicality of interior. A bed in the main cabin is out if the question, what about privacy when you are in the harbour 4) No unnecessary heavy finishings of the interior
Lots of great info. The designs are changing, aren't they. It is nice to be around and seeing the changes for the better. Seems like Yachting full time has taken grip with the builders. We loved all the unique things of each boat. From the basics to the very nice. You guys did a great job providing some insight to all of this. We do like the inside NAV area, too. Thank you so much.
Jason, I've been meaning to send this for a long time. A lot of your audience use subwoofers. Because you don't, you don't hear the low frequencies that sabotage your sound anytime the wind's blowing or there is low end info at sea. The bass frequencies envelop high end, resulting in difficult-to-distinguish speech. I suggest rolling it off with a steep curve at around 60 to 80 hertz. Still loving your show, buddy!
I just love all those big catamarans, the best safety feature ever for monohull sailors. Everyone knows that they get struck by lightning first so dock near one and you’re safe!
Nikki and Jason, Love your video today like always, but since I've been in the hospital since your last one, I REALLY looked forward to a pre-hospitalization activity! My first mug of coffee in a week and your video. Thank God for some "normal" in a disastrous week and you two for being able to touch base with a weekly routine during a time when I didn't know if I'd make it. It's really good to see you again!
Nikki & Jason I do believe a lot of the thinking by boat manufacturers has changed because of the reviews and opinions of sailers like yourselves and Nick and Terysa of Ruby Rose 2 , your TH-cam channels have given them and honest insight of what is important to the end user, with your unbiased reviews and opinions, it can only help improve the end product
It was great to see boats I’ve never seen before. Would it be possible to put together some content about the technologies/vendors you alluded to at the end?
Best channel on TH-cam for sure. I would love to travel the world but not possible at this moment. But watching this channel makes me feel like I am there on board for every wave good and bad. Please don't change who you two are. You both are amazing and I cannot wait until next week. Please don't stop making videos to share with the world.
Another reason we all love our two international sailing friends thanks for a look at some great boats 🚤 and a big gday mate from Australia 🇦🇺 and cheers 🥂
That was very interesting. I am amazed at how well the designers have addressed so many of the quirks of sailing. It is as if they have a solution for everything. It has been over 50 years since I have done any deep water sailing and I have to say that it is much more enticing now with all of the thoughtful features on todays boats. With that said I feel that you have chosen your, next boat very well. It will serve you very well and I can’t wait for your videos about sailing it. Kindest Regards Your Pal Al
Motorcycle rider and ex-Hobie Catter. I've spent a lot of time riding in France and everyone has always been great. I assume that the stereotype is from tourists being tourists in touristy areas.
I was really hoping that you would have shown a new gunboat. I wonder what kind of changes have gone on with their boats since Outremer acquired the brand. The Windelo looked very interesting. Thanks for showing us around.
At sea the windelo handles like a sports cat balanced but super safe and dry...even in those sort of conditions...going into the wind in a severe Med chopper sea. They have already had one do an 8 month circuit of the N Adlantic. Home via Newfoundland and Iceland the Faroes and Irish sea. Even using aircon and full familly house mode then heating on the Northern return ... They only used 800L in eight months. The Windelo is not only green hybrid drive the hulls insulated and skinned in Basalt... So its light... It has three basic versions and two hull lengths. The early ones were 48... 50s and later ones added an extra 5-6 feet. Good show tour... and good to see multihulls.
Saw you guys at Grande Motte while I was looking at the HH44 - I didn't say hi as you looked slightly tired and stressed and were running around taking pics. How windy was it on Saturday !! Hope you had good time,
thank you for showing these amazing catamarans. so luxurious inside. i would still worry about so much window exposure while at sea and tight spaces can be a good thing in bumpy conditions. I think the minimalist one, cat-c 50? was pretty cool .
I have looked at the aft helm boats you discuss at 16 minutes in. I think that would be great if you're in a colder climate, but in a hot climate, the exposed position would be hot, IMHO. I sort of like the idea of the helm right up front (I think it was the Windelo boat). But I have never actually seen one in person. And you're correct that as you sail and learn more, you'll develop a preference that works for you and the type of sailing you like to do.
These are so cool, the rain capture option is amazing and I am surprised it wasn't a bigger thing in past boats built. I'm finally caught up on your videos and I am super excited to see what's coming!
All that sand blowing in reminds me of the back counter of our 5th wheel last summer when we went up and down the Dempster Hwy. Vented/crank windows on the back of the 5th wheel aren't dust proof.
Would love to see what you think of the serial hybrid setup of the Windelo. Given that you reduce the number of diesel engines you need to maintain by 1 (compared to your HH parallel setup), with weight savings to boot.
After Rosie Swales travels on a Catamaran, I got intrigued, but rapidly discovered they have a really weird Corkscrew motion which really messed me up, in far from uncommon wave heights and frequencies. Thanks to half a Stugeron anti Seasick tablet before going aboard (I always take half a tablet as a Preventative ) I wasn't Seasick, but tbh, there's no way I could be comfortable living with that. I did try a Trimaran though, and was so impressed, I nearly bought one, but costs of Haulout, Maintenance, plus Marina erths if you can even get one, all added up to way beyond what I could afford. So I've stuck with Monohulls ever since. So Try a Catamaran first would be my advice, just to check if the motion is going to mess you up ? Best Wishes and Fair Winds. Bob. 👍⛵️✨️
i cant wait!! honestly like i can't imagine how you guys would be feeling right now just waiting! BUT i can't wait to see all the videos on your new home, and adventures. @hh plz hurry up already 🥺 i've been watching all your videos, even revisiting the old ones :D u guys r just the best
windelo is our favorite, we had the chance to test the 50 at sea, and really good experience! now working on the figures to make the dream come true! And you were welcomed in France because you are very nice :) If you come to the Cannes boat show in September, happy to show you around!
Loved this so much. I love getting to see other boat models as well as when you had a motor coach and you went to rv shows. It was fun to tour things with you and see what was new and upcoming💞💞
I agree with you Nikki about the forward cockpit. I don't sail but if I did that would be my pick. Love you two and your channel don't change anything 🎉🙏😎❤️
I own a 1992 Riva 50 SuperAmerica HP with MAN 510 engines. The quality of this Italian boat is unsurpassed, even today. The maple they used inside the salon, etc. still looks brand new, and everything they used when it was built was top of the line. The boat cost 1.2 million USD back in 1992. I would definitely buy another Italian boat.
I'd never seen a forward cockpit before until I saw it on your channel and now suddenly it's the ony thing that makes sense to me! Single handed sailing would be so much afer and easier when you have everything that close at all times! Sensational boat! The Outremer is also beautiful, but the 3 position helm just seems an inferior solution to the forward one too me!
The down side to a forward cockpit is that the helm is separated from everything happening in the aft cockpit. The ideal is probably to put a forward cockpit, and then have aft wing stations on each side, but that raises the expense. It is all about picking among the myriad different tradeoffs.
Gorgeous boats! I hate to always bring it back to RVs, but that last bathroom (sink and toilet area) reminds me of many of Airstream’s bathrooms with the split shower on the other side of the hall. ☺️
Comparing Annapolis Sail '23 with '21, there were some significant changes. It's clear the market is moving quickly to multihull; the show had a lot more than in the past, and many of those boats are new(ish) designs. Large production monohull builders are shifting to produce multihulls at a raoid pace. Cruising is catching up to charter, and design elements match: open salons are the goal for all the boats, and while the Bali "garage door" was considered odd a few years ago, it's now being used by a few more builders. It sounds like all the future designs will incorporate it to some extent. Same with the pass-through front door. Trampolines are getting smaller, and some are so small I think they are there just to avoid saying the have a solid foredeck (again, like Bali). Owner cabin layouts are more common, according to the builder I spoke with. The charter vibe - pack them in like sardines - is still a big part of the market, but diminishing. There are builders who do nothing but charter cats, so the rest of the market picks up the cruisers. This all makes sense when you consider Gen X is moving into retirement, and the last of the Boomers went into retirement this year. Sell the second home; buy a boat. Sail the Keys. The builders and sales reps tell me the market is quickly shifting to capture to the cruiser demographic, but that charter is still their bread and butter. It is clear the finishes and features are moving toward people who will spend more than a week motoring around BVI on a crewed vacation. A lot of boats were for couples looking to spend a month or two at a time. Which is exactly what we plan to do.
It looks like you guys had fun at the show. I wish I could get my wife on a boat but it's not going to happen, so we've got an RV. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
The Windelo 50 and 54 are incredible boats. A bit of an Ikea interior, but that forward cockpit, fully enclosed and all lines leaving to it, is absolutely genius. And right there next to the mast!!!
I agree, that forward cockpit is IMO the future for Cats. Just wish they had better looking curves in their design.
Love that Nikki has made a step forward in her sailing experience by preferring to helm from the side & rear.
Thank you so much for keeping your channel fresh with new things to see like this episode. I’ll probably never own a sailboat but I am just fascinated with seeing the life of people who do. Thank you so much for your wonderful show.

living the best life is being a parent.
Could watch and listen to you two lovebirds all day
So much knowledge but you share so well done
Stay happy 🇬🇧🏴🇺🇸

The windelo 54 is, to my mind, the boat ever.😍😘👏👍
Thanks for taking me to the boat show with you!

The Broadblue 550 skunks them all. Its fast, strong and unique with its inside central cockpit and dual reversible winches.
I don’t Sail but I am really impressed with the boats you toured. Well done.
I just love you guys! What a nice, genuine ending. I know you hit a bit of a bump recently but you are recovering very strong. The only thing i wanted on my 50th birthday was a lil Wynns and coffee. Mission accomplished.
Happy birthday! 🎉🎁🎂
Happy Birthday
Do you need to think bigger mate
Happy Birthday
Happy 50th
Windelo has it figured out. I hope that they inspire future boat design.

I love the articulating nav chair on the second boat... (Outremer)
With this . . You get to see all the different options, you also get SANDBLASTING 😘 Thank you for @showing us the New Options
Yup SurfShark works really well.
I wonder, how many job offers you both must get with all the knowledge you've gained. I think you both would be terrific salesmen!

I love boats and being near rivers, and oceans are good for mental health but I'm thinking a hologram would be better and a lot safer!!
Lots of ideas. 💡 Variety is the spice of life. Thanks for sharing. 😊
Nikki and Jason,
Love your video today like always, but since I've been in the hospital since your last one, I REALLY looked forward to a pre-hospitalization activity! My first mug of coffee in a week and your video. Goodness, glad you're here to watch!
I remember when you all didn't know anything about boats and sailing. This reminds me of your RV show days.

I also love the forward helm, particularly for colder climates. Yes, it's nice to feel the sea breeze, but it's nice to be warm, too.
Great Sunday Morning from Florida. Thanks and be safe.
It was great to see boats I’ve never seen before. Would it be possible to put together some content about the technologies/vendors you alluded to at the end?
Y'all do the best job at showin the entire boat. I've seen other videos of boat tours and they suck, compaired to you 2. Keep up the great work
Smoothest transition to add of any sailing youtube I have ever seen. Props.
You guys are so good to us, making these videos. Thank you 🙏🏽
That Windelo with those garage doors are genius.
Best channel on TH-cam for sure. I would love to travel the world but not possible at this moment. But watching this channel makes me feel like I am there on board for every wave good and bad. The Comal C-Cat 48 is absolutely beautiful

Best Vid in ages guys,
Not that all your vids aren't great but ,you look energized again and ready to go to sea ,lovely to see.
Have fun
Motorcycle rider and ex-Hobie Catter. I've spent a lot of time riding in France and everyone has always been great. I assume that the stereotype is from tourists being tourists in touristy areas.
I loved the tour of the various boats & liked a few of their features. I was so glad to see you both! I hope you both have a good week!
It's good to keep an open mind in designs, thanks for the show!
I have impression the market investing more in catamaran than monohull
I was really hoping that you would have shown a new gunboat. I wonder what kind of changes have gone on with their boats since Outremer acquired the brand. The Windelo looked very interesting. Thanks for showing us around.

Where’s the dishwasher? Show Jason some love and get him a dishwasher!!
Have a great day
Saw you guys at Grande Motte while I was looking at the HH44 - I didn't say hi as you looked slightly tired and stressed and were running around taking pics. How windy was it on Saturday !! Hope you had good time,
You're a Great Couple, that's why they liked you..
Your Videos are the highlights of Sundays on TH-cam😊
Loved to see all the boats, but I can’t wait to see yours. 🎉
thank you for showing these amazing catamarans. so luxurious inside. i would still worry about so much window exposure while at sea and tight spaces can be a good thing in bumpy conditions. I think the minimalist one, cat-c 50? was pretty cool .
The Wynns are great people, thanks.
You guys spoil us with the quality of your video. Thank you!
Right! It always surprises me more manufactures don’t have rain capture.
Good morning from Stillwater Minnesota, happy to see another video from you!!
You two are still adorable.
All that sand blowing in reminds me of the back counter of our 5th wheel last summer when we went up and down the Dempster Hwy. Vented/crank windows on the back of the 5th wheel aren't dust proof.
its so wild, the only 2 yacht channels I watch are nautistyles and gone with the wynns, and then to find you guys are friends, just wow,
Would love to see what you think of the serial hybrid setup of the Windelo. Given that you reduce the number of diesel engines you need to maintain by 1 (compared to your HH parallel setup), with weight savings to boot.
The Windelo is really great. The only thing I don't like is the toilet without sink.
Nice, But I can't wait to see you guys back on the water in your new home! ❤🖖
Or sight seeing or momma or any thing but another boat tour ...ugh !
Me too, but when will that be ??
Boat build updates are coming soon and the boat will be ready later this summer, so stay tuned!
Curious Minion
@@gonewiththewynns fabulous. Can't wait
Just an ask a video suggestion
The amount of new tech available ie the thermal cameras, security advancements
that hh52 looks great
I have never been on a sailboat and probably won’t, but I enjoy watching your videos. Keep up the good work. Thanks
GROOVY BOAT SHOW. Well put together, lovely designs. The French Ooooo' La la.
I gotta admit, your new boat does look pretty damned good. And you 2 would make great brand ambassadors:) Great episode guys, very cool
I was always sold on the Nordhaven MS-56 but you guys are turning me into a catamaran convert

honestly like i can't imagine how you guys would be feeling right now just waiting!
BUT i can't wait to see all the videos on your new home, and adventures.
@hh plz hurry up already 🥺
i've been watching all your videos, even revisiting the old ones
:D u guys r just the best

As always. Thank you for sharing.
I agree with you Nikki about the forward cockpit. I don't sail but if I did that would be my pick. Love you two and your channel don't change anything 🎉🙏😎❤️
The forward helm on the Windross is mint…… although how would that go in heavy seas waves…..
19:57... Wait up... If you have the choice to have the engine under the bed or on the outside locker... Whats your choice?
How soon until your boat is ready?
I own a 1992 Riva 50 SuperAmerica HP with MAN 510 engines. The quality of this Italian boat is unsurpassed, even today. The maple they used inside the salon, etc. still looks brand new, and everything they used when it was built was top of the line. The boat cost 1.2 million USD back in 1992. Marsqudron minimal style awesome

We couldn't ask for better ambassadors! Thanks for always representing America in such a positive way. Those in your wake appreciate it❤
Loving the new Outremer as I follow you guys & Sailing la Vagabonde, wondering how much of Rileys input went into the new design.
Lots of cool idea I saw behind the scenes, little things I can do on our little lake boat. Love your videos!
Did you see anything that makes you regret the boat you went with? I love your videos!
After a visit from Ft Lauderdale, we still sweep up " sand " for weeks afterward, Hands to Cleaning Stations.
" Press Passes ", You have Hit the Big time.
So Wynns, what features caused you to call HH and have those added to your new build?
😜😆😂
Good video, the dual inside steering was nice.
What fun! So many choices, so little time
Loved the on-deck shower. I'm all about easy cleaning! Thanks for another informative video. Safe travels ❤️
It looks like you guys had fun at the show. I wish I could get my wife on a boat but it's not going to happen, so we've got an RV. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
Great video. So much interesting stuff happening in the boat world. Thanks for sharing.
While the forward steering stations look great I would be concerned about how well they handle green water over the front deck.
This makes me really excited about YOUR new boat. Great video. So interesting! Thanks
I really like the last 2.
I was hoping Jason would do some miming in a French Town Square, you know.. with the striped shirt and all. Maybe throw on a beret too ;-)
