Melissa I love you. I remember as a kid listening to my great aunt mumbling something while we were all eating breakfast. She didn't have her teeth in. My dad said "she's talking to you." I said "how was I supposed to know? She was looking way over there." I believe karma came back on me cause now I'm in my 50's and my eye looks like Bill Cosby.
I saw your video and started doing the exercises. I had already tried the patch and everytime I took it off my eye drifted right back to the way it was. I love this exercise. I feel normal. I may not act it but I feel it. 😂

You’re fantastic and this is so helpful. I’ve a slight lazy eye that turns inwards esp when tired, and doing this exercise I see only one pinky. I patched when I was a kid and have worn glasses since then (for computer/reading) since my parents didn’t feel too comfortable with surgery when I was a toddler (wore glasses since 10mos). Had an eye doc recently said he’s surprised at how my vision is essentially almost perfect, and that my left eye has just relied so much on my right. More of an aesthetic issue for me than visual. Will look into your consultation-your vids give me hope!

I forgot about this one. Good tip! My double vision is so bad today that when I try this, I see two whole hands at first. If I really concentrate hard, I can finally see one thumb and switch to one pinky if I hold my hand still at a middle distance. If I move my hand at all or move my head at all, or stop concentrating, I lose it. Trying to do this for more than a few seconds at a time, especially if I'm trying to follow it while moving my hand, I get a headache.
I can really feel the muscles around my eyes, especially the ones between my eye and my nose, really straining when I do this. It can hurt if I keep trying for too long. It's not easy for sure.
I was born with double vision, but my eyes didn't look obviously 'different' from normal. The main way it showed was that when I was a baby, I never tried to look at my nose and when someone would try to hold something close to my face, I wouldn't cross my eyes trying to see it like most babies do. How it really showed was when I would try to reach out and grab or touch something. I would usually miss it. I almost always missed if I tried to catch something. When I was a toddler, I didn't try to walk and just crawled everywhere until I was almost two. Even then, I was pretty shaky and fell down and bumped into things a lot. Didn't have any depth perception.
On top of that, I was born with frequent high fevers (like high enough to cause hallucinations) and a mysterious hive tumor, so those took precedence until my family finally found a specialist who figured out how to help them cope with keeping the fevers down and to keep the hives from flaring up. Never did find a cure for the hives. They decreased enough by the time I was four that I wasn't having the frequent high fevers anymore.
Once the hallucinations and waking nightmares stopped, my family noticed the problems I was having with seeing more. They took me to an eye doctor when I was five who did a bunch of tests on me and figured out that the muscles around my eyes and the nerves that controlled them were weaker than they ought to be. It was especially the ones that move my eyes from side to side and especially the ones for my left eye. When you look at me, my eyes seem to be more or less looking the same way, but they don't. My left eye tends to look a little bit more outward when I'm trying to look straight ahead.
My eye doctor prescribed a bunch of eye exercises and glasses for my near sightedness. This was the late seventies, so they didn't suggest special glasses to try to help with it like they have now. They also didn't suggest eye surgery because it didn't look as severe as it does for some people with strabismus so they thought I could control it with exercises.
It took three, almost four years of doing the exercises every day (and what a grueling, un-fun experience that was for a five year old - and my parents) before I saw any real improvement. I finally got to where I could read, do math problems on paper, and sort of do activities like throwing things where I was aiming, catching things, dribbling a basketball, etc. I never got good enough at any sports, other than long distance running, to be any good on a team, but at least I gradually became slightly less clumsy.
I have had to do the exercises the rest of my life. I got to where I only needed to do them on a once or twice a week basis by the time I was in college. I even managed to pass a driver's test and drive a car, as long as I only did so when I wasn't the least bit tired or ill. If I'm tired or not feeling well, I can't control the double vison well enough to drive.
My double vision is getting worse again over the last five years because my nerves are damaged from having hyperparathyroidism, so I'm having to do my eye exercises more often. I'm also looking into special glasses for it if that's a good idea.

Thats quite a life... I just turned 18 and noticed that my eyes weren't pointing straight ahead, i knew there was a problem with them from quite a while now, but now it seems more noticeable..
There isn't much of a deviation yet, nor do i have much double vision at all, a little bit may be.. im just worried if it gets worse over time...
By the way gramps, how's life going

I’m not sure if I’ve had double vision since I was born, or if it was using the 3D feature on my 3DS when I was 4. I think it was noticed at that time though, then I wasn’t able to use the 3D on the 3DS anymore just in case it made my eyes worse. Me and my dad liked to say “one eye is looking at you, one eye is looking for you.”
When I was around year 6 I think AND IN CHRISTMAS, I ended up getting a surgery on both eyes to try and fix them (it was originally just going to be one eye, but I think they couldn’t tell which one the weak eye was, or they were both weak lol) (oh joy). So couldn’t see for like the first day or so after, needed eyedrops at least once a day otherwise my eyes were stuck shut together while it healed.
It did work for a bit I think, it stopped my eyes from being wonky, but after a while the double vision came back.
My dad’s talking about if I should get surgery again to try and fix the double vision, but I’m very sceptical about it. It didn’t work the first time, I don’t like surgeries

I am 82 and l was operated for strabism at the age of 8 by a doctor Whittington who was apparently a pioneer in this kind of surgery. Once a week my mother took me on an hour’s journey to a hospital where l spent a while doing eye exercises on one of those machines where you have to get the ball in the bucket etc. l actually enjoyed doing them and was very assiduous. The right lens of my spectacles was of course covered. The day of the operation arrived and l think those exercises really helped because l was the only child in the ward ( there were about 6 children in all) for whom the intervention was successful. I was lucky, but often wonder if l could have healed the condition just by exercising with the type you show here. I still feel myself squinting occasionally when l am tired and l seem to have a slight squint in some photographs. I was a rather ugly child because of this and was greatly teased! 🇬🇧🙏

  • @Dogpuppy789
    @Dogpuppy789 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

While you were explaining the doing the exercise side to side around 3:29 you kinda moved your head. Was that intentional? because usually they tell you to keep your head still and only move your eyes while doing eye exercises. Also thank you for this video as first I was a lil skeptical of the exercise as it just seemed like basic pencil push ups but it's definitely a lot more then that and there's way more feed back for your eyes.

I am 24 years old. At the age of 16, my vision became very difficult. When I came to the eye doctor, I had myopic astigmatism. The left eye -5, the right - 4. At the age of 20, the minus in the left eye increased -7, the right eye remained the same. I also have a slightly lazy left eye, the eye muscle is slightly deviated towards the nose. I really wanted laser correction, but I was refused, because the astigmatism is high. I need a phakic lens operation, but I can see well with glasses, and my doctor didn't recommend it either, it's not in a hurry. By the way, about my lazy eye exercises. The doctor didn't say anything... because I have high astigmatism, there is no point in doing exercises, but if I do the exercises, will the discomfort ease a little?

My daughter 8 years old had little strabismus hardly noticeable. We went to an optometrist and she was told to wear glasses and do patching for 3 months. We did. Things improved then 2 weeks she was not wearing them and her strabismus went really bad! We went to another doctor optometrist, and she prescribed stronger glasses and advised against patching. Her strabismus improved little with glasses, but without glasses, it was worse. So now I m waiting for an appointment with other doctors and after reading reviews here I m thinking maybe I should not do any glasses as the things get worse!
