Shan yu is one of my favourite Disney villain. I like that he was the only man in this cartoon who didn't react to the fact that Mulan was a woman (as I know bcs Huns have a women warriors) He did not humiliate her and did not give her any odds. She was his opponent and target, and without any pity or unnecessary words, he wanted to fight her like a warrior with warrior.
^This. Shan Yu saw only his enemy, and did not acknowledge gender, and he was ferocious. He didn't hold back. He considered her a warrior to defeat, not a gender to discriminate.
I never looked at it like that before but now that I do he’s my favorite villain officially, although he may be a villain he gained my respect for that
You’re so right. All he did was say, “The soldier from the mountains…” And he literally went from this 😲 to this 😡. Shan Yu really said gender equality, my enemy is my enemy. 😂😂😂
@poem2myself it wasn’t on the writers OR the director. the chinese were upset at disney’s depiction of their legendary figure with the singing and the talking animals. with the live-action, disney tried their best to appeal to their audience (so that the film could be promoted in china). li shang’s absence is due to the height of the metoo movement: the filmmakers thought it was inappropriate to include him in the film due to a lot of complaint from women about the sexual relationship between mulan and her commanding officer (unbalanced power dynamic), so they decided to split him into 2 people - commander tung, who becomes mulan’s mentor/father figure, and chen honghui, mulan’s new love interest who’s also a fellow soldier.
Just so you know, the person singing is actually different from the standard voice actress of Mulan. Mulan's speaking voice is done by Ming-Na Wen who has acted in a bunch of projects since (most know her for her Marvel and Star Wars projects). But Mulan's singing voice is performed by Lea Salonga who is an amazing Filipino singer and actress (and apparently Shay Mitchell's cousin??).

Mulan is one of my favourite Disney princess because of how relatable she is and because of how she's such a fighter, it always inspired me
Your joy when watching this could be felt through the screen! You really cheered up my day! You mentioned suggesting other movies to react to near the end, and I want to suggest “The Goonies”. Not a horror movie, so no worries there 😅
Chuu will LOVE the sequel because it's a great time to yell at mushu
This is one of the best disney animated films and princesses, amazing songs, beautiful animation, great jokes that aged beautifully too!!
A detail I love is that there are no songs between finding the burnt out village and the end credits (apart from a short burst of 'Be a Man' as they're climbing into the palace dressed as women), because they thought songs would undermine the more serious tone of the events from that point.
I agree. The fact every Disney princess was a top tier soprano was 🤌🏼 Mulan Pocahontas Ariel Jasmine Aurora all the girls could sing down
I train to "Make a Man out of you" 😂❤
Mulans father: “It can’t be.” 😧
You: “It is.” 😌
Me: 🤣🤣🤣
Aah, you're such a sympathetic person! You seem like you'd be a great person to know.I really like your reactions :D
I would probably recommend that you try Perfect Blue, for a different kind of animated movie. It's Japanese and it's... a lot closer to the horror genre that you say you also like.
OMGGGG I LOVE YOU CHU! Mulan is my favvv, this reaction was sooo good! ❤
You will definitely love Hercules.,looking forward to seeing your reaction.
Loved this reaction 💓
The porridge mushu made for mulan is called congee and its delicious
Awww Mulan is one of my favorite Disney movies! It brings back SO many memories for me as a little kid! Glad to see you react to it!
Mulan is one of my favorite Disney princesses because she's very relatable plus she was able to save all of China.

I think many can agree Shang is one of Disney's most attractive men. He's great XD
And so is this movie! Definitely one of my favorites from their 2D era 💙
Your videos always improve my mood so much!! Thank you fr fr❤ you’re a healer imo
Mulan is MOTHER. She's my favorite Disney princess. ❤
Also, I wonder, have you watched Studio Ghibli films? Would love to see your reaction to them.
It's so much fun to watch your reactions because you enjoy it so thoroughly, make funny jokes and still pay attention to the details 😂😂 I laughed so much while watching, thank you so much!

Is anyone else wondering what happened to all those soldiers who were in training?
it is that that mulan was an actual person, there's a ballad about her
This song is so fire 17:36 I sing it to pump me up to this day when I saw it in theatres as a kid
I'm here for the best training song. And for Li Shang.😊
You seemed to enjoy the hell out of this movie and I thank you for sharing it with us
I would love to be your friend 😂 you’re such a joy to watch. Also absolutely react to part two
SCREAMING CRYING I'M SO EXCITED TO WATCH THIS REACTION!!!
I LOVE how you can sense lgbt characters, the radar WORKS
btw; i dont know if you will see this, but i would love to see you reacting to "dead poets society" (1989)
i have no idea if youve watched it before, but its one of my favorites!
Li Shang isn't bi, "Ping" saved his life and that of his army, so he's very grateful that a man he trained did such a feat, but when he learns that it was a woman in the end, it's a shame for him and his army to be saved by a woman, since women were forbidden to go to war. It had no romantic connotations when she was Ping, especially a movie in 1998, they'd never think of making a bi character.
@@spec1512 omg dawg just leave it alone. let people headcanon in peace
mulan really is one of the shiniest jewels in the disney renaissance crown!
Hi Chu 💛 I love your reactions especially animation movies from the 90’s 💗
Chuu you gotta watch Tarzan! Another classic w a great soundtrack
my heart is soaringgggg! so happy you watched this! It’s one of my top comfort movies :,) Would love to see how u like the second one
YES MULAN 2
Early finally! I love this film, Li Shang is bi for sure.

@@spec1512 Dude I know, it's a joke. You don't need to explain a Disney film to me simply because you're so offended at people commenting that a beloved animated character might be bi.
@@mimirants7935 I'm just explaining that it has nothing to do about being bi, but that being considerate or being prroud of someone doesn't mean being in love or sexually attracted
Disney back in the day would have a talking voice actor and a singer to sing the songs. They started using the same person for both roles, which means some voice actors just cant sing as well as others.
