    Enjoyed the video as usual. I own a 2020 G70 3.3T Sport AWD and I can confirm it is a superb vehicle. The new front with the pointy grill isn't entirely to my liking either. The older model looked far more aggressive.. The 3.3 twin turbo completely transforms the car. Performance wise, it's just a hair under a BMW M340i with a (subjective) nicer interior. It was also created by Albert Biermann, the ages long head of BMW's M division. Many journalists have commented on it's handling and driving characteristics being similar to old great BMW's as well. As for the servicing it's great. You get preferential spots & servicing at the local service centre should you take it in yourself. If not, they will send a driver to your location with another Genesis (not a Hyundai) and take yours in for servicing. When complete be it a day or a few depending on what's being done, they will come and collect it no matter where you are. Home pub... pub, work etc. Included in that is the first 4 years of servicing free. So with all the picking it up and dropping it off and the yearly services you pay not a penny. Also at car meets it gets a lot of attention as a BMW and Mercedes competitor. It really is that good. For another video go to Everyday Driver "G70 vs Giulia vs 3 Series" and check that out. Cheers!

    It has to be said that the G70 is currently the oldest model in Genesis' lineup. In fact, it was one of their first models and at the time it was first introduced, they were still experimenting and testing the water. The latest G80, G90, GV70 and GV80 are huge improvements and their build quality has even impressed guys from Autogefühl, and they are strict Germans.

    I live in the US and have had a G70 (sedan obviously) 3.3t rwd, for 3 years. It replaced a BMW 128i coupe manual that I adored. The G70 is decent and I chose it over a Mercedes C43 because it was more exciting to drive and way cheaper. The interior is gorgeous (I have the same as in your video). I suspect this will go the same way as Infiniti. OK its a bit of a leftfield choice , but so was Infiniti. The online only concept is an error to me. Lexus are succesful as a premium sub brand because of the whole dealer and service experience and that is all part of what you associate with the brands identity, especially at the premium end where the dealer experience is so important. Genisis's online only model is devoid of this. Hopefully I am wrong and this is the new way to do thinks, but I suspect not.

Pressure from The dealer and a local motoring magazine helped…. And a full refund was achieved. Turned out that I was 1 of many with the same issue on the same car model given the same run around.

    Interesting car. Strange that they don't actually have a dealer network. I think that is something that they should consider. It will never really compete properly or be considered a contender until the public can go and see them touch them and drive them properly even though they will bring one to your door, and in three years time when people trade them in I suspect they will be viewed and priced like an upmarket Hyundai or Kia and will be priced accordingly. It will be interesting to see if the manufacturer will take them back in part exchange because if they don't then values will fall and in the UK at least I think the brand will fail. Time will tell. To be honest 50k buys you a lot of cars these days and I would prefer to buy a really nice second hand piece of prestige than gamble my money on something so anonymous as the Genesis.

If one is cold, why not turn the heating up?? I can understand it if we all lived in Siberia, but Surrey? I dont see any point to this car, and its endless list of settings to tweek everything just in case. Best to put energy into a decent Hyundai and win people over by hard work on basically a good car.

    Interesting. I have noted a tendency for Korean cars to follow a more 'American' esthetic in general, and (being an American) I have to say I quite like the looks of it. I'm not fond of calling a slightly stretched hatchback a shooting brake (or station wagon) but that's what were stuck with these days. Overall I'm intrigued, but it's really not my sort of car. One thing I would wager; I bet it's mechanicals won't go completely to crap after 100,000 miles like both of our Audis did.

      @@JayEmmOnCars there is proof of that: I think the sales figures fo the excellent Stinger 3.3t are not very good in the UK, am I wrong? Here in the US, it is doable but even with our low cost of gas, with the current prices, the abysmal mileage of the 3.3t hurts (22mpg US in average, not great)

    Whether they make it or not is only relevant to them. The important bit is that they might just make waves big enough to push the indolent European manufacturers into designing and building better cars to nullify the threat.

    The Kia Proceed is the downfall of this car for me, the top spec Proceed is almost as nicely equipped as this car, better looking in my opinion and as far as I know you can still get the same 1.6 TB petrol engine that’s in the genesis. The Proceed is also significantly cheaper and more practical in terms of boot space

    (Edit - Maybe I'm wrong with the following - is this the Premium or the Luxury model?...
    It seems I'm right while taking about the base model which is confusing called the Premium - it indeed "only" has 194hp, however it seems the Luxury and Sport models get the Petrol Plus engine with the power you said.
    Indeed they make some very specific and almost unnoticeable changes based on various different specs and options - for example, the models which get the option of 18" wheels get Continental tyres regardless of engine choice, however on the 19" wheels, the diesel engines get Pilot Sport 4 tyres, while the petrol models get 4S's.
    Anyway, on to my original comment... 🤔😀🤣🤘.)
    Since you said this car feels "underpowered"*, are you sure this car has the 240hp you quoted it at?...
    As indeed, the 2.0L petrol automatic models of the G70 (saloon and "shooting brake") are shown on Wikipedia as being available Worldwide in three states of tune, 194, 242 and 249hp (while a manual 252hp model was apparently offered until 2020 - that'd be nice to see 😀),...
    However looking on the Genesis UK website, I only see two engines listed, the 2.0L petrol with 194hp and a 2.2L diesel with 197hp - so MAYBE that car "only" has 194hp and isn't as bad as you thought!
    Of course a manual option with or without the 252hp engine would surely be more lively, but anyway it is what It is (they don't seem to sell them here in Ireland anyway) 😀🤘 .
    *When it has more power than many of our "normal" cars! 🤔😀 ...
    My 08 Mazda 6 "only" has 118hp, but it's plenty quick, though a bit more power would be nice and I reckon around 200hp is loads! (In a manual car of course) 😀 .

    After seven years of ownership of a Maserati Ghibli, I am due to take delivery of my new Genesis Electrified G80. This is very different from the car on test here, being fully designed by the new Genesis design chief Luke Donkerwolke who is the ex boss of styling at Bentley, and it shows in the shape of the G80, with everyone thinking that what it is!
    For value and 'bang for the buck' there really is nothing else like it on the market, the closest being the yet to be released Mercedes EQE, which for the same level of features, but certainly less performance, would be ten grand more than the near £80k I'm paying for the Genesis, which has five years warranty and free servicing included.
    However beyond that it does something which had become all too rare, it is a pure luxury car, not something that many exec saloons, particularly EV seem to want to offer any more.

    • @ludosys4903
      @ludosys4903 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s Luc Donkerwolke and that last name translates into “dark clouds” from Dutch to English. I’m afraid that will be the faith of the Genesis brand in Europe as well.

    • @keithshayle123
      @keithshayle123 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ludosys4903 of course we all have to hope (or at least I and their other customers!) that they become a success! They certainly have the substantial funds of Hyundai behind them, and unlike the Ill-fated Infiniti brand they are building a very relevant and distinctive stand out range of cars for the current market in Europe. Couple that with the after sales offer of five year warranty plus free servicing, and certainly in the case of G80 undercutting the competition by something like £10,000, they have all the ingredients to succeed.
      Finally I would draw your attention to Elon Musk and his car building outfit, which the established brands said was doomed to failure, and now by capital value that 'Tesla outfit' is one of world's largest car manufacturers, with the Model 3 being one of the best selling EV's!
