This car is $57K CA. I just went to BMW Canada's site and comparably equipped a 340i X drive. Price was$74 580 CA. No question which car I'd buy! G70 is awesome!
I heard its because the Korean car companies have recruited some quality European engineers and designers to collaborate on their new models. they been making some juicy vehicles putting their minds together.
@trstnhn so many people are late or stand haven't a Clue. Have owned nothing but Hyundai vehicles since 2003. And the reliability has been stellar for me. I now own a 2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan which I got for a great price. My cousin has a 2015 Impala which he paid a little more for, and his wife a 2016 Cadillac SRX. I can tell you now the quality in materials and comforts blows away that of the Impala and SRX. The ride quality and cabin noise isn't even fair as a comparison. My cousin does agree the Genesis is nice but he is stuck in buying American even though I told him most of there vehicles aren't made in America
That Badge excites me that it doesn't say BMW, Lexus, or Mercedes. I love the fact you can own something as beautiful and luxurious as this Genesis G70 and not see somebody driving the same car as you every 2 minutes. Johnny Dwyer that’s a good point. There’s a 3 Series every 20 cars. They lease em cheap and it makes them lose their appeal when everyone drives one. Genesis is more rare so it’s more special and turns more heads
@@alexsosna7180 Just FYI, BMW is not alone in "leasing them cheap" as you put it. There is a massive secondary market for cars like BMW and Audi, so locking in a supply of off-lease cars to sell as used cars is a sound business strategy. Completely agree. Korea seems to have taken the sports sedan market by the horns with their amazing, affordable cars. I personally prefer the stinger, as $10k . matters and I'm a sucker for that hatch, but having driven both AND the new S7, I just can't justify the brand or price when what you end up getting is close to the same.

Hey TH, Another AWESOME Video- TY TY TY !!!! I just had the 3.3TT version for 2.5 days and the sun was shining with ZERO rain. I live in Vancouver & am a car guy. Here are the 3 negatives: (a) The back seat doesn't accommodate anyone over 5'9" for a journey lasting over 30 minutes. (b) The long term reliability and trade-in value is a HUGE question mark (c) the vectoring is brake applied to the inside wheel- Lots of grabbing going on during spirited driving. Now, onto the Positives - EVERYTHING ELSE!! This handles like a go cart (it is a Compact car) the steering wheel feels right, the turning radius is one of the best, It has 5 ride selections, the tech is in abundance, the seats can be sporty or comfy, that engine - torque & HP is ample (4.7 seconds from 0-60), the sight-lines are excellent, HUD displays whats needed, the adaptive cruise works really well, the 15 speaker Lexicon sound system is very good. I can go on and on. The summary is this- If you want a Value filled 4 door vehicle that looks great, has an AWESOME interior, is quick & fast when u want it to be, has the latest tech and your mother-in-law will like it too b/c in comfort mode it drives very smoothly then this is a big contender vs the Germans, Japanese and maybe Cadillac. Its an all in price for the 3.3TT V-6 of $57,500 Cdn. Book a test drive and see for yourself. Excellent compact 4 door sedan and if u enjoy assertive driving try the 3.3TT. Too much fun!! Love the car. My only little gripe is that the rear turn signals aren't L.E.D. They should be, especially since the Stinger has L.E.D. turn signals. At the very least, it should be an option.
To go off your first point, the Infiniti Q50 Resdsport does not have any LSD option for it. Even the RWD version with 400hp has no LSD option. Meanwhile Genesis does. Important atrrention to details and no corners cut by Genesis like Infiniti
lnfiniti has lost their focus. The Q50 has a better motor (in my opinion), but everything else in the G70 surpasses the Q50. I would get the G70 over every Asian competitor and some German offerings as well. It's near the top of my list for my next vehicle.
I own a q50 but with the 3.7 and in 2-3 years The g70 is a definite option as much as i love infiniti and i enjoy mine I feel like the G70 would make me feel more whole as a drivers car
"as long as one does not turn off stability control, what difference does not having LSD make?" A lot, if performance matters to you. Stability control without a LSD is basically braking the faster wheel and/or cutting overall power until traction equalizes, making for a lower-performing car, in some cases dramatically so. An LSD will shift power to the slower wheel without the need to brake or cut engine power, making the car faster AND more predictable. And a helluva lot more fun.
I am shopping for one right now but I can say I love Throttle House reviews. The way you are telling your driving impressions makes me understand the dynamics of the cars. Great works guys...
Just found your channel. I love how you reviewed this car! Looking forward to more reviews!! I think the new gen Hyundai and the Genesis cars look leagues better then older Korean cars.. As long as these cars show themselves to be somewhat reliable then id consider buying one!
I bought a new 2023 3.3T AWD Sport (Canada) in the fall, and love it so far. I was originally looking at the Cadillac CT5-V, BMW M340i, MB C43AMG, and Audi S4/S5 SB, but I found that I actually preferred the G70 on balance as a car. The fact that it undercut the others, similarly equipped, in price by $20K (CT5-V) to $30K (I'm looking at you, C43AMG) was complete icing on the cake that made the choice the smart one as well! The C43 got ruled out quick, as for my ~$90K I'd go to an E450 for a much better quality interior and better lux features. Coming out of a Cadillac CTS, I was horribly disappointed with the dealer experience, ran into issues as the car hit 7 years (only 70K kms, though), so it was handicapped... although the car was fantastic to drive and be in (both my CTS and the CT5-V). The Audi had a little more of a budget look and feel, and I don't love the front-heavy design. I've had a number of BMWs, and the M340i was a natural choice... but I didn't like the angular, spaceship-ey look of the interior or exterior. From a performance perspective, the CT5-V and M340i were both beasts - a little more power than the G70, a little sharper handling... but harsher ride and not as comfortable. I found that the G70 had a great balance of interior and exterior design, quality, comfort and handling - in fact, I'd say it's more of a spiritual successor to the e46 and e90 BMWs than the M340i is! With a ~$3500 exclusionary 8yr/160K kms Genesis warranty added on, I've purchased many years of worry-free driving.
I have not found a negative review of the g70 as of yet... Got my 3.3t sport last week and I love it.. Only negatives.. Gas mileage has been really bad, but I'm testing this further by using eco mode more. I have used sport quite a bit.. Otherwise.. It's just amazing!
Just rented a g70. Holy shit it's amazing. I love it. I can't get bored looking at it. I've seen every type of Mercedes, Audi, and BMW sedans and they're boring to me. But the g70 looks so sexy. I call it the poor man's Aston Martin as it looks that good and everyone's jaws drop seeing it as you they don't realize it is a Hyundai.
I will definitely be getting this car next. My Audi has been a complete nightmare and I’ve spent over 6k in one year on maintenance. It’s so not worth it when you have genesis putting out things like this!!!
I personally prefer the Stinger because it is slightly longer, has more cargo room, and has a hatchback. It feels more unique to me, and has more of an Audi look to it while this has the Mercedes/BMW styling. I also got a great deal since it's been out longer and snagged a clean, low-mileage CPO model. Can't go wrong with either.
thanks for the great review. I am about to buy a 2023 3.3T, and your review is, of course, confirming my decision to skip the lease-only German sedans. Thanks for the descriptions. Excellent overview.
First off great review! Watched a few of yours already and appreciate your productions. Second, thanks you for the insights on the car. Wanted to get a BMW drivers perspective as it’s a great benchmark. I know this is the big dog review but am also interested in the 2.0 sport manual. I feel like that’s going to sway a lot of hot hatch drivers away if it’s priced right.
Thanks for following along! And yes. There are a few advantages to an equivalent BMW but this is a fantastic car. A manual review will hopefully be in the near future.
Where has guy been!? For the money I'm sold and I was considering a new Lexus IS350 sport. When I was 20 I really cared about those L badges my IS300 had but as I approach 40 I want the best value for my dollar. Genesis it is!!?
I have a '16 IS 300 F Sport now. Considering this G70 in a couple years when it'll be time for a new car. I could also see getting a CPO G80 Sport or G80 5.0. That's a great car as well, obviously not sporty but very comfy and still somewhat entertaining to drive. I rented a G80 5.0 for a week with Turo, loved it, and am now a firm believer in Genesis.
shmee would like a word with you as he gives stark details why down to the comparison reviews of each model, including the history of the cars and actual numbers instead of using a subjective term to relay info to fans and potential buyers.
Another positive G70 review, definitely sounds like Genesis did their homework for this one. Does anyone know if there is a plan to 'N' any Genesis cars or is that really just the Hyundai models.
I believe its only N for hyundai which i believe is a smart marketing movie to get more customers for hyundai once the veloster n comes out. But who knows? Maybe theyll make something equivalent to amg, m division and whatnot for genesis still. I hope
Omg. Could you imagine? If they put the 3.3T in the RWD with manual, and tuned it for 400hp, then undercut the price of an M car by 15k? I'd buy 2. One for me now, and one for future me; after I crashed the first one drifting.
Throttle House i really hope they just make a 3.5t 400hp and 375 lb ft of torque exclusive to the genesis brand. Clearly they are capable of such a feat but due to badge prestige theyve never wanted to aspire higher than this until people believe in their brand which i completely do. Have the highest hopes for genesis right now
The ECU for the 3.3T has been cracked, and AWD Stingers are already putting over 450 wheel HP, and close to 500 TQ in the hands of tuners with just intake, plugs, and intercooler upgrade...call that 500 crank HP, so M3/M4 levels of crank HP/TQ from the factory is probably not a stretch for Hyundai/Kia if they want to go for it. It's conservative as hell from the factory right now because they SERIOUSLY don't want that sweet new mill to have ANY hint of reliability issues for at least a few years, because their reputation can't shrug off bearing failures or blown head gaskets like BMW or Ford can. They've also got a LOT longer powertrain warranty, and they'd rather not be doing free motor swaps if they can help it.
Incredible, but I still bought a Stinger GT2 and have zero regrets. Had a Hyundai Elantra before, which is size-comparable to the g70, but I just love the big sloping back and bulk of the Stinger.
I drove a BMW as a rental and honestly it didn’t impress me because of the horrendous turbo lag, so city driving sucks. Also most people who drive those are snobs so Genesis allows guys like me to have a fun car without the lables. When you get older you stop caring about appearance and lean towards value
I just recently discovered the Kia Stinger and fell in love and now by extension this car the G70 3.3. I've pretty much decided 1 of these 2 cars will be replacing my 300C in a year or two. Being more of a blue collar guy I love that these cars have Kia and Genesis logos as opposed to BMW or Audi whatever. There is a certain upscale image to those cars but it's bot necessarily a positive image to many people. Having an upscale looking car and being able to avoid the snide jibes like "did you win the lottery or something" is a good thing to me.
This or the stinger.... this or the stinger... God I wish I could test drive this but no dealers and no service via Hyundai anymore means I'll never see one in NL. But so nice.
I'm thrilled that they are going to offer that manual in their 2.0T with a LSD and rear wheel drive. Just awesome. This car is going to be so much more reliable than a BMW.
Another great review! The first review I watch was your WRX: new vs old, and then came across a few more since. Great work, Subscribed. Hyundai and Kia are making some serious competition these days.
Good review! I'll be watching more of your vids. Side note: I can't help but think this is a lighthearted Ron Swanson doing car reviews. Internet gold.
Really enjoyed your content. I'm in the US and not sure when it'll be out, but I got to see a bunch of G70/80/90 and more luxury models of G90s while visiting Korea. I'm really proud of what Hyundai/Genesis have accomplished and look forward to what they'll bring in the future. As per the guy who was talking about the "N" model, I'd really love to see a REAL sport sedan. Yea, the 3.3T version is pushing good numbers, but i start to drool thinking about track ready versions of G70 or G80. Just waiting patiently to trade in my Audi :p P.S. you got yourself another subscriber!
I think the Genesis branding will shield it from a bunch. Also I think the fact that the badge actually looks good helps. The Stinger is a great car but I don't think many people want a Kia logo on their car, the Genesis badge has an almost Bentley look to it, very classy and upscale and fitting for a luxury sports sedan.
Flat bottom rim, LED turn signals, and MAYBE a bigger display and this legit would be the perfect car for my personal preferences. I usually like a panoramic sun roof but I feel like I wouldn't care because of how compact this vehicle is.
I am turning in my lease this fall (Infiniti Q50-300HP), and will definitely test drive the G70 soon. Infiniti is trying to get me to lease another Infiniti but I just think Infiniti has fallen quite a bit since its "G" days. Your video has me very interested, thank you.
I was planning on buying the new Kia Stinger this fall, in part to numerous terrific video reviews that I have watched here on TH-cam. But now after having seen what this new G70 looks like, along with the fantastic video reviews that have recently started popping for this car, I am going to opt for the Genesis instead! And I cannot wait to have it personally delivered to me in one of those glass outfitted trailers!!! I work for a huge company and I am going to have it delivered right out front of the building!! It's going to be Awesome!!!! (and going to go with the Nurburg Green exterior color)
Yes indeed!! I love being a Canadian!! And I do not know if this is only a Canadian thing as well.....this car also comes with first 5 years of scheduled maintenance included!!
I own a Genesis G70. It's my personal vehicle. My kids are adults. I don't carry passengers (occasionally my wife), and I don't need to haul large items. I own two other vehicles for that. If you need to carry passengers or cargo, choose the Kia Stinger. If you don't, choose the Genesis G70. You'll love driving either one! If this is going to be your only vehicle, and you need to carry passengers or cargo, choose the Kia Stinger.
@@genesisg7022 yup, I've done the two vehicle thing for 10 years. Got the stinger because I wanted to be able to haul the family to the mtns for vacation then press a few buttons for a fun drive. Works great!
Just a few years ago, I laughed at Hyundai or Genesis which they prefer to use, but both Hyundai and Kia have grown more than perhaps any other competition over the years.
I recently purchased this cars baby brother the Cerato GT. Not sure what name they give it in the US but it has a 1.6t engine. This is my first Kia and I took a bit of a gamble. I have since found out that it is UNBELIEVABLE! Very very impressed with its power, handling and features. My next car will be a .........Kia of course.
The only thing I would like to see on this pretty much perfect car is that I'd like to see the sports exhaust found on the 2.0T but quad exhaust instead of dual. I'd also like to see a full red leather interior. I'm an absolute sucker for white cars with red interiors. Then the G70 would become the ultimate sports sedan.
Got mine today. 3.3 htrac. Cant wait for the engine breakin 600 miles to get over.....btw u can turn the exit/entry music off but u gotta put the car in park first otherwise the sub menus for it would not be active. All the controls are very intuitive overwhelming at first but within 5 mins everything is crystal clear
Hey Thomas. Good overview, I love your videos. Now when Genesis decided to start inching forward I thought about getting back to this video for potential europeans looking at Genesis. First of all, if they come to my country, that'd be no.1 car (not sedan, vehicle) I'd buy next. However, I must raise some concerns that prove to be challenging for automakers (like Infiniti exiting EU) nowadays. First of all, it is unacceptable(not for you, but for EU market) to base how good a car is on how it sounds, how quick it is etc.. for 1 engine. In EU we pay more for gas so around 180-200 hp diesel/petrols are much, much more common(and those create sales). Hyundai/Kia have only 1 EU 2.2d engine for these cars and engine is rough, trans not as good as premium germans and theres no awd variant considered for now. Then, infotainment/digital dash is miles behind merc and audi. G70 is 'good' but its old gen BMW (F30). Knobs and switches, but that Kia Ceed screen does not sell a car. Then, G70 is cramped in back and has average-ish boot compared to G20 3 series. And as I noticed, theres bare metal on B pillar around your head. Could mean A4 and 3 series are quieter. Only potential entry penetration for Genesis in EU is superb amount of equipment compared to basic spec Germans. It has to be a better 'car' overall then them. Jag XE and Alfa Giulia (nor Q50 and Lexus IS) are, and hence they sell like shit. That Jag rides sublime, but no go as a competitor. I hope Genesis makes a case for itself in EU. Best of luck there 🤝✌
Just subb'd man, nice vid and down to the bone awesome review without the unneccesary bullcrap coming from other so called motor journalist. I'm no fan of Genesis, but I like how far they've come, and I like their design language!
Beautiful car. The reason I picked the Stinger over it is because of passenger room in the back and cargo room. If I was single, or married without kids, I might have gotten this instead.
This car is $57K CA. I just went to BMW Canada's site and comparably equipped a 340i X drive. Price was$74 580 CA. No question which car I'd buy! G70 is awesome!
I honestly trust the quality of this car more than a Mercedes. Times have really changed. This is my pic over the euros.

Almost bought an A4 this week. Thank god I didn’t. Patiently waiting for the US release to test drive this. Great review.
Cue the brand snobs in 3, 2, 1...
I’m sitting here waiting, but nothing yet! Haha
So true lol. Pure haters saying "how's that Hyundai?" when I've shown them mine but yet they can't stop staring lol
You can afford you buy, you can't you kia
@@04tsxpower kia's are pretty nice nowadays. Get out of the dinosaur ages
@ 😘
I have not found a negative review of the g70 as of yet... Got my 3.3t sport last week and I love it.. Only negatives.. Gas mileage has been really bad, but I'm testing this further by using eco mode more. I have used sport quite a bit.. Otherwise.. It's just amazing!
Watched your review and dougs back to back. I honestly think you did the car better justice :) this channel has become my new fav!
So weird to see Thomas do a full on review without James. This was good but the two of them together is just unbeatable.
This is the only Kia/Hyundai/Genesis car I would ever consider. So good.
And yes, it reminds me of Alfa with some hints of Infiniti.
Just drive a ford, dude
What????
You'd skip the G80?
Just rented a g70. Holy shit it's amazing. I love it. I can't get bored looking at it. I've seen every type of Mercedes, Audi, and BMW sedans and they're boring to me. But the g70 looks so sexy. I call it the poor man's Aston Martin as it looks that good and everyone's jaws drop seeing it as you they don't realize it is a Hyundai.
I will definitely be getting this car next. My Audi has been a complete nightmare and I’ve spent over 6k in one year on maintenance. It’s so not worth it when you have genesis putting out things like this!!!
It’s a great time to be a car enthusiast! So many good cars!
Very nice channel that I just discovered!
Glad to have you! Don’t forget to sub!
g70 does look better, but I wish it had the hatch of the Stinger for better storage
Great editing, subbed.
Looks way better than the stinger, but I wish it had just as much interior space as the stinger and the hatchback trunk.
How more people are not getting this vehicle is beyond me! Picking my new Havana Red Dynamic G70 up on Wednesday!!
Genesis has maden a big stuff this time, G70.
G70 looks fierce angry and classic. Thats why i like that vibe
The depreciation on the Genesis brand is stupid. No doubt in my mind I’d get one of these as a used car in 3-4 years. Literally a no-brainer.
thanks for the great review.
I love this car 😍😍
Hands down best car reviewer on TH-cam.
shmee would like a word with you as he gives stark details why down to the comparison reviews of each model, including the history of the cars and actual numbers instead of using a subjective term to relay info to fans and potential buyers.
Another positive G70 review, definitely sounds like Genesis did their homework for this one. Does anyone know if there is a plan to 'N' any Genesis cars or is that really just the Hyundai models.
I’ll tell you this one already feels very “N’d” lol.
Excellent review. For the record, in the US, the Kia Stinger in either GT or GT2 trim (strangely not in GT1) does have the LSD.
He is right about the badge, in my case. If it was a Lexus, I would buy this car in a heartbeat.
Wow.
When I see Lexus BMW, Mercedes & Jags I think-FOOLS!
Why?
I love the G70 but when will it be available in USA
Stinger GT2 is coming bro...3.3L Turbo V6 engine, 8 speed auto with AWD...G70 SPORTS. Nice looking car too
Awesome car. Good show
I'm thrilled that they are going to offer that manual in their 2.0T with a LSD and rear wheel drive. Just awesome. This car is going to be so much more reliable than a BMW.
Yea Pretty much. Time will tell if the rwd can compete with BMWs balance. Can’t wait to compare them.
OMG ! I love this car! Fell in love at first sight .
Another great review! The first review I watch was your WRX: new vs old, and then came across a few more since. Great work, Subscribed. Hyundai and Kia are making some serious competition these days.
They really are. Thanks for watching!
Good review! I'll be watching more of your vids. Side note: I can't help but think this is a lighthearted Ron Swanson doing car reviews. Internet gold.
Haha. I’ve been called a few things but that’s a new one. Love it. Thanks for watching! Lots more coming
Tom, I really enjoy your reviews - honest and compelling. As to this car, not here yet (Australia) but hopefully due soon
Just waiting patiently to trade in my Audi :p
P.S. you got yourself another subscriber!
This car looks great & capable but expect lots of bashes from brand snobs
I think the Genesis branding will shield it from a bunch. Also I think the fact that the badge actually looks good helps. The Stinger is a great car but I don't think many people want a Kia logo on their car, the Genesis badge has an almost Bentley look to it, very classy and upscale and fitting for a luxury sports sedan.
good review as always.
D* W* that delivery service is only available in Canada.
Yes indeed!! I love being a Canadian!!
And I do not know if this is only a Canadian thing as well.....this car also comes with first 5 years of scheduled maintenance included!!
Your review makes me want to buy that car or at least to do test drive. I am a big fan of BMW and owner BMW 5 GT now.
I dig it. I just bought a Stinger. I'd love a G70 but 2 kids and a dog mean the Stinger's hatch is the tiebreaker.
Awesome review and channel. I hit subscribe. I like that you’re driving most of the review.
A modern 4 door Skyline R34 GTR? I think that if I had to buy an automatic AWD car for under R35 GTR money I’d buy this right now.
Nice car
Thomas, great review! Good job, thanks! Very cool car.
Best of luck there 🤝✌
I want the deep growl from the car. Everything else is coming just well.
Another excellent vid. Informative and entertaining. Keep the the awesome work
Love your channel, great videos
Thanks for subbing!
I thoroughly enjoyed this review.
Thanks! Subscribe! Doing a similar one of the stinger in a few weeks
Maybe it would drive a bit better if the tires were properly inflated. Check video at 8:32.
Awesome vid, makes me wanna upgrade my tuned 2012 Genesis RSpec 5.0L V8!
Just subb'd man, nice vid and down to the bone awesome review without the unneccesary bullcrap coming from other so called motor journalist. I'm no fan of Genesis, but I like how far they've come, and I like their design language!
Good to have you! Glad you enjoyed. Lots more coming.
I have that model in Himalaya Gray. Amazing car.
I actually saw this car. it was a really nice car.
I got that exact genesis parked outside lmao best car you can buy there is a costume mode as well!
nice looking car. test drove 1 of them. the back seat super tight. if u are a tall person, no1 can seat behind u.
This better be one of the cars genesis brings to the UK when they make their big return
Good looking front-end.
I think Thomas likes this car! Who wouldn't?!
Tesla should pump some type of electron sound thru it’s interior lol
Beautiful car. The reason I picked the Stinger over it is because of passenger room in the back and cargo room. If I was single, or married without kids, I might have gotten this instead.
Oh, and I think the Stinger is a bit better looking too. A more unique look, IMO.
Take this over the TLX A-spec
That's for sure
2022 Launch edition!! W000
Excellent real review. Kudos.
Excellent review, very informative.
