Get one, its a keeper.
As ever James, thanks for a great day and I’m glad you enjoyed the car. The headline of this video has certainly got a few people thinking…..😂
3 years ago I treated myself to a 2010 Rolls Royce Ghost. It set me back £85,000
I had immeasurable pleasure in it, and once I had done all those things I wanted to (son to school prom, daughter to party, visit a few stately homes, a visit to Caffeine & Machine, plus daily it to work) I sold it. Ironically exactly 1 year to the day I bought it. It sold for the same £85,000 I paid for it.
What an experience.
@@BibTheBoulderTheOriginalOne Any expenses?
The world was very different then. I wouldn’t count on that same kind of resale value today.
@@Vargadumi Just a £4,500 service. About the same as it would cost to hire one for a week.
@@CIRCLEDARK Hence I sold it after 12 months as I realised it was still worth what I had paid for it.
I'd love to just experience the ride in a RR. Must be a treat, even in traffic.
Is there any car that isn't a smarter buy than a Taycan or at least as a new car - the depreciation can only be compared to a cliff.
The cobra. It will probably be under 500k because of the replicas
Audi etron GT?
same drivetrain but with worse handling lol
To be fair though. You can get one for 40k now. Thats alot of car for that money.
The Taycan (and the Jaguar I-Pace) are looking seriously good used buys!
If you can’t afford to maintain a new Rolls, you can’t afford to deal with a used Rolls.
@@MrAlpinab7it’s a bmw in a tuxedo. The markup on parts for bmw is already high then you add the Rolls tax.
You can use some of the money you saved by buying used to pay for maintenance.
If you drive a rolls you`re a cnt, simple as that
Which is why you buy it, drive it, sell it. I don't think this is a car you keep long enough to do anything with.
No one is going to see that and say oh my God he’s got a 12 year old Rolls-Royce. They’re going to see that and they’re gonna say oh my God he’s got a very nice Rolls-Royce
Great video once again Jay🎉
"...[F]orward planning..."??? James, I don't ever remember anybody being able to do backward or rearward planning...make it just "planning".
James said it better
Nice video. I'd be constantly worried people would think I owned a wedding chauffeuring company.
The gist is really dirt cheap for a ultra luxury car
Unfortunately the costs of repairs don't depreciate
@@heyhey3887 yeah, just hope you don't need repairs... Air struts and other bits are extremely expensive.
Superb, James. Yesterday, I was thinking so much about the Ghost, watched every single video on YT about it, including yours over the Phantom and Wraith (both that I love, but wouldn’t make sense for me)… thought “he very well could make a video about de Ghost”, 1 day later: 💥
Then I ask God: is this a sign? I believe it is…
For refreshments: I don’t really love the facelift of this generation, and even though I loved the updates on the new Ghost, I didn’t really enjoyed the looks. So this would be exactly my choice, you’ve gotten even the colour combination right 😂
Rolls over a Taycan ANY DAY!
If I was in the market for a car like this, I would buy the v12 7 series instead. Less ostentatious, cheaper to service/ fix, quicker, just as much tech and I would feel just at home in the driver's seat as the back seat 👍
Observing your creative process is like an exciting adventure. Thanks for allowing us to be part of this journey!👍👍👍 + 🔶,
Quality and class, some just don't get it 👌
If you are going to do a long distance in a Porsche Taycan you should sign up for something like the Ionity Passport Tariff (currently 43p/kWh) and see you back here 20,000 miles later.
Assuming a pessimistic 3mi/kWh and 50% charging is at Ionity - which is a lot more than most EV owners would do - it would be less than £1700 to do 20k vs a generous £7800(?) in petrol for the Roller (I would guess that would be closer to £10k).
A used Rolls Royce is utterly lovely but they have always been a money pit. A used Taycan will be monster fun but won't cost and arm and a leg to run.
@@FFVoyager I’d take running costs over depreciation any day and I’d bet the Rolls is cheaper over a period of 3 years at that price point. EV’s are over before they start. When you start fining companies for selling petrol cars, that used market will have stabilised depreciation
@@bobbydwheelhouse I was addressing Jays moronic comment about running costs around 16:10.
Live in fantasy land if you want but the lovely Rolls will empty your wallet faster than you can imagine, A Taycan, also bought used, won't.
I don't think it's a great comparison though as Porsche have pushed out thousands of them to buyers who don't want them but can't get the Porsche they want if they don't stump up for one. Given many have lots of money they don't particularly care that much about losing out when they sell them either - hence the glut of the things and the drop in residuals. I'd rather compare a leggy Ghost with a Mercedes EQS - waft around in luxury after spending £60k and see which costs the least over 20,000 miles......(it'll be the Rolls wallet crusher)
@@FFVoyager I think it’s 85k vs 85k, you’d be surprised how a bought right Rolls with strong main / inde history can run, and to a reasonable price point too. I’ve driven most Porsche products, I enjoy some not all. 992 Turbo S is spectacular. But an EV Porsche new vs this can’t get anywhere near it .
@@bobbydwheelhouse I'm not the one comparing them! They are not even slightly related - but Jay is utterly wrong about the running costs. The Rolls would be crippling in comparison.
@@FFVoyager approved used comes with an exceptional warranty, I do think depreciation vs running costs is a fair argument, Ghost service costs are similar to Porsche main dealer service
i would feel a berk driving round in a rr
Treat yourself James. Absolutely wonderful statement motorcar.
Incase you go bust, with the Rolls you can do weddings and posh cabbying.
Seen a couple of Spectre in the City and they look Boss! Get one James get one!
If I had a spare thousand quid a week to keep the thing on the road, I might consider buying one. 😎
As an owner of this very spec as well as an Aston DBX, I agree with your sentiments.
DBX, nice!
Hello James; I've owned a fair few Rolls Royce and Bentley cars in my 60+ years of driving, and nothing comes close. I no longer have RR/Bentley money, so I moved to Lexus, and it has to be said; the LS cars come close for ride, performance 30snd reliability. The LS600h Royal Lounge cars are simply amazing...and I can afford those too.
For you? I think a Phantom could be the perfect choice. These cars speak volumes about their owners; the exude a presence which is unequalled by anything else. In a Rolls, you are instantly SOMEBODY!
When he was still alive Alex Moulton (suspension guru and bicycle innovator) thought the same. He'd had Rolls and Bentleys from the 60's but ended up with a LS400 saying it was a better riding car than any of them! (He liked big Citroens too)
Suits you Sir!
Get one..
Yep buy one, then we can watch your and not spend a penny. Great review as always, top job. John
BMW X7, Mercedes GLE Class, Audi Q8, Range Rovers. All tasteless SUV's that cost significantly more than a RR, worse quality, bland to look at and about to significantly depreciate, yet people still buy them over one of these. There's really no justification to drive something so boring, yet the UK public do.
I’m normally all in for the man maths, but… this really is a stretch. The used Taycan could lose 100% of its value from £50k and still be cheaper over 3 yrs and 30,000 miles than a Ghost at £80k - coming from someone who’s run F01 and G12 7 series for >100k miles. I’d love the Ghost, but that’s not a head choice that’s a heart choice.
10:18 - Jay reveals he has spent some time in the umbrella compartment.
Smarter is not always more fun. And the looks of a Rolls... It s a matter of taste I guess
ah the irony, wearing Caterham sunnies in a Rolls...nice...
Oh yes make our day and get a RR just because....... 😁
3:42 that is one fast yacht on road haha
Yup, at that price point… I’d get one.
You have to scratch that itch Jay !
No elegant shirt for a a RR?
Hello first
Who is 'first' and why are you saying "hello" to him/her?
Very good point and video.
Nice watchable video James. 👌beautiful elegant, quality wafter
Don't say porsch! It's a Porsche!
His NAME was Ferdinand Porsche!
Don't translate names!
So you have to say Porsche with a short E at the end! Because it's a name! Not a word!
It could make sense, as an investment. As a car...meh. It's not something you'd desire to drive.
the Rolls does make financial sense and there are very few vehicles that make financial sense
We bought our Ghost after owning a Silver Spur II LWB and I absolutely love it.
Buy one. Life is too short. I did the same. Brand new Defender 90 D350 😊
I do prefer the Ghost over the bigger Phantom and if I lived in the UK, I would sure think about getting an 80 grand, V12 warranted Roller. ❤❤
Rolls Royce are missing a trick here. Why sunroof OR the starry night? Put the starry night in the blind for the roof
Even if you are not buying a car forget about disposable junk EV. Great work Jay.
I love all cars, but Rolls Royce is on another level, it’s THE car.
Anyone buying an EV with a relatively short range will end up very very cross. The Ghost prices now are fantastic so worth a look.
Great video. Shocked at the price of them now. If ever I had the money to be able to spend £65k on a car, and the money for upkeep, it would be a great choice.
We are not far off someone standing outside the Ford dealership looking at a brand new £70k Mach-E and thinking, stuff that I will get a Rolls Royce Ghost instead. When you factor in depreciation, the Rolls makes far better financial sense. Just done some (back of fag packet) figures. Buy a new Mach-E GT at £70k, it will lose half its value in three years. At the same time, the Rolls will cost roughly £25k to run over the same period. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
buying a Rolls Royce is ALWAYS the smart choice. Nothing can compete in terms of status.
Worst man-maths ever 😂 “depreciates less than x, having it”
At least the only range anxiety is down to how well your wallet is padded. 😊
This is the kind of useful consumer advice we all need to here 😂 this channel should be considered a public service and funded through the license fee!
Thanks for this, great demo and excellent report as always.
Would not have a Porsche for free, and as for an electric car, still no thanks.
But these Rolls-Royces are fabulous and some great deals around at the moment.
There is a downside and that is the running cost's IF something goes wrong! All OK whilst going well but there are issues that can send cost's spiralling and THAT can put the dampers on everything.
Do the homework, choose a specialist and keep your fingers crossed, you won't be disappointed.
Interior not as lovely as the Flying Spur
How you create so much content I do not know, keep them coming JayEmm - well done!
Food for thought when I get tired of old Range Rovers...
If you stop to think about it, a Rolls Royce is probably the last car in Europe designed only to shuffle family members around with no pretention of being something else too.
A Dacia 1310 (feel free to look it up) is better than a taycan turbo because it's good ol petrol and it turns heads. Nobody would beat an eyelash at a rolling power outlet
YOLO... and if you get tired of it, sell it.
Worth watching for the reaction to that cornering at 3m40! :)
handled that left hander effortlessly
£60-70000, that translates to €110-160000...
Absolutely beautiful ❤
How much for a service ?
U need one in your life. Mk 2
The wraith is my pic
Do it Jay. DO IT!!!
Buy the roller...
Apart from looking a bit too much like a Rover 75, which is neither a compliment or a criticism, just an observation, I rather like the Ghost. It's so elegant, and so utterly splendid, I don't know why anyone would pay more for a Phantom. It's all the Rolls Royce you could ever desire.
Do it do it do it
Buy one!
Nice video.
...Smarter....
Buy now
Yeah buy a Ghost, even if you only own it a year or 18 months, the depreciation won't be too much
It's not the deprecation that gets you!
How can an electric car be a turbo model?
It's a trim / performance level.
Pretty dumb, but that's how they justify it.
Comparing it to an EV is making a cheap point. Can't believe anyone in the real world would be doing this. A Mulsanne of similar vintage is half the price and far better value. Or a BMW M760...
But then you're in a BMW......
The 20% shared components is an optimistic number. You're still in an expensive BMW...
Well done and fuxx EV's!!!
Big fan
Especially useful on hot summer days.
I’d take the RS6 over that 100 days out of 100.
Having owned a RR Ghost I suspect you never have.
That’s because you’re a peasant.
@@BibTheBoulderTheOriginalOne Unfortunately for you I have owed both a Ghost, RS6 C7 and C8, hence the comment.
@@davidfisher2359 It's all down to what you want from a car. I wanted class.
@@davidfisher2359 ...and a car that has indicators that get used...
Wtf is that laughter
From $37K to $65K that's the minimum range of profit return every month I think it's not a bad one for me, now I have enough to pay bills and take care of my family.
Wow that's huge, how do you make that much monthly?
I'm 37 and have been looking for ways to be successful, please how??
As a beginner, it's essential for you to have a mentor to keep you accountable. I'm guided by a widely known crypto consultant
She is Expert Lucille Friedman
YES!!! That's exactly her name (Lucille Friedman) so many people have recommended highly about her and am just starting with her 😊from Brisbane Australia 🇦🇺
Venturing into crypto as a newbie was very difficult due to lack of experience which resulted in loosing funds......... But Lucille Friedman, restored hope shes a good woman
Can you do normal cars next time
There’s plenty of that already on TH-cam go watch it
Why thats boring
He does LOADS of normal cars! He does old Minis, hot hatchbacks, estates, saloons etc. He also does Porsche, Ferrari, McLaren etc This is what makes this channel SO @#£%ing great, Jay reviews anything and EVERYTHING!
I mean like sleeper cars
I had a RR Ghost as a daily driver, thus to me it was indeed a normal car...
