    In Part 2 of our Big Botswana Baecation travel vlog, we head to the Chobe Riverfront section of the Chobe National Park; known for its huge concentrations of elephants.
    At Ihaha Camp, they immediately want to move us to be closer to other campers, due to the close proximity of a pride of lion. But we prefer to be more separate from the crowds.
    Despite the Chobe weather (quite a bit of rain!), we manage to have a fantastic stay.
    This part of the trip is amazing, with masses of elephants (mock charging and trumpeting frequently), herd of impala, and tonnes of other wildlife like giraffe, zebra, kudu, jackal, buffalo, and of course, LION!

    I love how real this is....the majority of us camp like this. Basic and real. Not all the fancy gadgets etc. Thanks for keeping it real!

    I love how authentic your videos always feel. Keep them coming! Also, what is the best month to visit Namibia/Botswana/Northen Cape?

      Thanks! That's an awesome comment 🙏🏽 I think the best time is generally in the dry season for wildlife viewing. It's also cooler. So I would recommend June to September. Northern Cape though may be rather cold in those months, so perhaps May, and then September, October. The west coast is definitely best in summer, in my opinion, the evening breeze off the Atlantic can be pretty chilly even in December.

    Love your videos. Most of the channels on YT have over the top rigs and a the most expensive gear. You show that it is possible for anybody to do these types of trips.

    Again a great video. There seem to be real love hate relationship with the elephants 🤣 They are so majestic though. Maybe the Nissan Patrol would have been quieter & less startling to them 🫢🤣

      That landscape around the river is absolutely beautiful! There were a lot of elephant calves around, perhaps that may explain their behaviour.

    Love you guys. Just so down to earth and honest. Having worked in Northern Mozambican and Botswana for many years it's refreshing to watch you guys. I have a good laugh sometimes. The sort of people Id love sit around a campfire with...what is your diesel consumption p/100km?...compared to the 4.5 80.

    • @TravelGigolo
      @TravelGigolo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Diesel consumption on the 1HD-T is between 15 and 20 L/100km. The turbo needs to be refurbished (possibly replaced, cracked housing 😞) so we should be back at 15 L/100km when that's all done. Consumption doesn't seem to change much with driving style and terrain, except in deep soft sand. The worst we've had is 25L/100 km in Namaqua, where we did a lot of soft sand driving at low speeds, fully loaded. Hoping to do CKGR, but will definitely need that turbo sorted first 😁

      @darrellw.matodes6898 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TravelGigolo shew that's quite high...I guess a 4.5 would be a little more but not much. Love your guys vids..

    • @TravelGigolo
      @TravelGigolo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 4.5 is higher, can go up to 30L/100km in deep sand. That's the main reason I wanted a turbo diesel. The later models (1HDFT and 1HDFTE) are 24 valve and definitely better fuel consumption. It's not easy to come by a triple locked 80 though so we took what we could find.
