For Jen, Darkseid is definitely more powerful than Thanos. He is nicknamed the "God of Evil" and beside that he is considered as an actual god. He is considerably stronger, faster, more intelligent, and more evil or ruthless than Thanos. To answer Holden’s question Darkseid came first and Thanos was based on Darkseid (Kirby based Darkseid off the nightmares he had about Adolf Hitler when he fought in WW2). Also Darkseid’s not really a Superman villain, people only really think that because of the animated series. He’s actually a New Gods villain and occasional Justice League villain in fact he didn’t even first fight Superman until a full 16 years after his debut.

Her liking Henry’s version of Superman and having a good emotional range when people complained his Superman was mopey and depressing. And she liked the Black suit.

The complaints about Henry's Cavill Superman always baffled me. People have been complaining for years that Superman is a boring character because he is so powerful that he barely has any challenges. Snyder understood that and decided to go with emotional challenges, which works before imo for a new Superman and yet many people complains this is not Superman. So if I get it right, people don't like Superman for being boring, but they want him to stay in that states? Ugh

  • @walkinglootchest1251

Something that I find myself having to explain to people when they compare DC and Marvel is that Marvel makes superhero movies, meaning they're action movies with superheroes as the stand-ins, DC (more specifically, Zack Snyder) is making graphic novel films, both are based off of comic book characters, but DC/ZS focuses more on the aspect that represent the look and feel of graphic novels rather than the action or quippy parts like MCU does. This is why ZS has moments in his films that are almost direct representations of comic book panels. Not saying either one is wrong or bad, just stating that this is why you can't really accurately compare the 2 universes.
Also, Darkseid came first, so Thanos would technically be Marvel's version of Darkseid. Also, as Jen kind of thought at first, Deadpool is a parody of Deathstroke, Deathstroke wears black and orange and is a mercenary who uses swords and guns and Deadpool is the same except he wears red and black. Deathstroke is super serious and intimidating whereas Deapool is not. Deathstroke's name is Slade Wilson and Deadpool's name is Wade Wilson. I really enjoyed this reaction a lot. I would love to see Jen Hardman react to the DC animated films like The Flashpoint Paradox, Justice League War, The Dark Knight Returns Parts 1 & 2, Son of Batman, Batman Vs. Robin, and many more, I feel like those are great storylines that hardly get any attention from reactors, I think they will be very interesting to see you two watch.

Regarding the scene where Wonder Woman saves the hostages, the bomb was going to blow up "four city blocks", whereas WW eventually only took out one wall of one building when she stopped the guy who was going to murder lots of children and some adults. She'd already stopped a hail of bullets, but the terrorist reloaded so was clearly going to keep trying to kill the hostages, and I think it's reasonable to have some doubt that WW could stop every single one of the bullets if he fires again, even though she managed to save everyone the first time... So in that context I think it's fine for her to prioritise stopping the terrorist immediately over part of the building staying intact (which she may be able to help rebuild after the terrorist has been dealt with).

Remember that the original plan was for there to be TWO Justice League movies, part one was supposed to end with Superman coming back, then part two was meant to come out later. But WB meddled (shocker) and made Zach condense it into one film.

@@SFascetta777 I do remember that the DC slate from 2015 said a part 1 and part 2 to JL but I thought the part two would’ve been what we don’t see in this cut. Darkseid’s attempted invasion of earth, a possible extended nightmare sequence with evil Superman, and the final battle to kill darkseid. Zack has a history of making much longer movies then cutting 30 minutes or more on the editing floor so it wouldn’t surprise me if this was only suppose to be part 1 but a theatrical run of it would’ve been 3 hrs- 3hrs 15 min long.

To clarify, Holden fixed the audio in this by painstakingly aligning every applicable song on the soundtrack to the exact kilobyte and inverting it, causing the perceived audio not to have any music. This only works with tracks that have at least one instrument mixed in the center channel because of the way inversions handle stereo. The other side effect is that the remaining audio sounds bubbly due to the inverted audio overlapping any part of the track at the same frequency

34:55 that was in the late 80s, the Robin at the time was Jason Todd, the 2nd Robin, it was because he was very similar to Dick Grayson, the 1st Robin, who was the superhero Nightwing by that point, the story became known as "A Death In The Family", though Jason was later resurrected and became the Red Hood (which is an identity Joker used in one of his many origins, this is actually his origin story that is used the most), where he went around killing criminals, which made him remembered as Batman's greatest failure and the failed Robin, there's actually an animated movie from 2010 called "Batman: Under The Red Hood", which tells this story very well, it's on HBO Max, I'd recommend it.
but in the DCEU, Zack Snyder had planned on Dick Grayson being the dead Robin instead, which if Zack's vision had happened, then we wouldn't have gotten Nightwing because Dick would have been dead, and we wouldn't have gotten Red Hood because after Dick's death, Bruce would have never taken Jason in, and Jason then wouldn't have died from the Joker and come back later as the Red Hood, the only reason Zack wanted Dick dead was because Dick's death would have impacted Bruce way more than Jason's would have, which is why Bruce goes to killing his villains, but I don't personally agree with Dick being the dead Robin, but since Batman V Superman and Zack's Justice League don't mention the name of the dead Robin, I guess it can still be left up to interpretation.

33:20 the better idea is for future dc films you will have core dc films and pseudo dc films. They are doing if like how the comics are.
Core will mostly focus on a connected story set in a same timeline and characters crossover.
Pseudo will be individual stories either no connection or loose connection to core like Joker and The Batman film.
If wondering “like the comics” part basically there is main line comics like Batman and his detective comics run. During these time they would make side stories like the known one being Killing Joke where that story wasn’t 100% official at the time. But a long time later they decide to loosely tie it into main run comics but also floating in the air on it isn’t.

Hey, Holden and Jen! Loved the Amazonian sequence and that amazing sacrifice. I want a whole movie set on Themiscyra!
David Thewlis reprised Ares for the ancient battle scene. He was the antagonist in "Wonder Woman".
The Green Lantern's ring left the finger of the fallen Lantern to return to Oa! We need a good Green Lantern movie because he's an essential member of the League.
Part 3 was the biggest chunk of Cyborg stuff that was missing.
Part 3 was the biggest chunk of Flash stuff, too.
What kind of fool spends 20 minutes searching for a hamburger while plowing an 18-wheeler through a city street!
Love the "I'm rich." line by Bruce.
Wonder Woman says to fight as a team and then everybody proceeds to do their own thing! Lol.
In case you didn't know, Holden, Darkseid, DeSaad, Steppenwolf, Apokolips, the Mother Boxes, Boom Tubes, Parademons and the Anti-Life Equation are all the creation of Marvel Universe co-creator Jack Kirby during his stint at DC Comics. It's one epic saga called "The Fourth World". The characters have been appropriated by other writers throughout the decades.
The Knightmare reality must diverge from the main timeline at the moment Flash activates the Motherbox. He ran so fast that time reversed a little in the same way that he reversed time at the end of the movie. By doing so at the resurrection, it enabled him to charge the box at the exact moment it hit the amniotic pool. In the Knightmare timeline, he must have been just a little bit off resulting in a corruptible Supes who turns to Darkseid upon Lois' death.
Martian Manhunter or J'onn J'onzz is a founding member of the Justice League and is a part of the team through every iteration. He has psychic sensitivity and must sense Lois' importance which is why he appealed to her as Martha Kent although Martha not remembering any such pep talk is going to make her look senile if it ever comes up! Lol.
The open capsule aboard the Kryptonian ship is meant to be a Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl reference.
The black detective who conversed with Gordon was named Crispus. Crispus Allen will become The Spectre upon his death in the line of duty.
The Asian STARLabs scientist, Ryan Choi, who gets promoted at the end is the Rebirth version of the Atom, DC's version of Ant-Man. Previously, the character was named Ray Palmer.
Loved seeing Darkseid's course-correcting Omega beams!
The JOSS-tice League was serviceable and Whedon only did as instructed by cutting material and lightening the tone. However, after seeing the true intent of the original director, the theatrical release really suffers in comparison.
So odd that Warner Bros. execs decided to oppose fans yet again and denigrate them the very weekend people sign up for their streaming service as a sign of their support for this material and a shared universe. Instead, WB announces a slate of thirty films with absolutely no shared continuity. They are short-sighted and have no respect for the source material or the fan base. They continue to see what Feige and Favreau are doing at Disney and they simply choose not to replicate a successful business model. Why? They expect to make sufficient profit with inferior product and see no need to cater to a loyal customer base or put in the extra thought required to manage a shared continuity. Creatively bankrupt empty suits with titanic egos and disdainful souls.

Fun fact: Thanos was originally intended to resemble Metron. However, an editor at Marvel encouraged the artist to beef him up, saying "If you're going to steal one of the New Gods, at least rip off Darkseid, the really good one!".

I'll never understand why DC/Warner Bros felt like they had to play catch-up with Marvel. It's not a race. The needed to make proper individual character building movies before putting them all together. Why they felt they had to jam them all together and rush to get to a Justice League movie just because Marvel had their Avengers movies already I'll never know. Marvel was successful because they build to the ensemble cast movies properly. I don't understand what WB doesn't get about that. Which is why WB continues to be in the toilet for the most part, and Marvel continues to be successful for the most part. (minus Eternals, lol) That being said, I gotta give WB props for letting Zack Snyder put out his cut of this movie. It's night and day better than the Theatrical cut!

Any similarities between Marvel and DC... DC is usually first. Marvel is inspired by DC comics A LOT!
    Darkseid and Metron inspired Thanos
Deathstroke inspired the creation of Deadpool
Batman inspired Ironman, Moon knight, Daredevil and parts of Spiderman
    Dr. Fate inspired Dr. Strange
    The Atom inspired Ant-man
    Black Canary inspired Black widow
    The Flash inspired Quicksilver
    Zatana inspired Scarlet witch
Red Tornado and Martian Manhunter inspired Vison
    Shinning Knight inspired Black Knight
The Doom patrol inspired the Xmen
and the Avengers wouldn't exist if it wasn't for the success of the Justice League.
    etc etc.
The only high-profile character that Marvel did first was Namor. Aquaman was a DC copy of Namor. DC also has a character called Black Spider who was inspired by Spiderman.
and that's just the comics. the MCU itself has quite a bit of DC elements in it. Killmonger for instance, the first GOOD Marvel villain, used the origin and drive of Black Manta from his original run and not Killmonger in the comics. the Abomination in the first hulk film looked more, like Darkseid than in the comics. and When Captain Marvel rescued Ironman in space, it is a shot for shot recreation of Superman rescuing Batman in the animated film Batman, Superman Public enemies.
