How We Stake Dahlias // June Farm Update // Green Bee Floral Co.

June 20, 2021 Update! - We're out in the fields staking our dahlia propagates this afternoon (and tomatoes, and doing a quick tour).
We use the cross-rope method from Kristine Albrecht at Santa Cruz Dahlias. I like this method as it allows us to weed and prune at the base of the dahlias. We continue to add more levels of trellis rope as the dahlias grow.
Materials Used:
- Kiln Dried wooden stakes, 4' and 6' lengths.
- Baler's Rope/Twine (available at your local farm store)
- Floral Snips - but you should NOT use them to cut the twine... eh hem.
- Farmer/Florist Tool Belt: greenbeefloral...
