I didn't love Pena Palace when I was in Sintra. It looks great from a distance sitting on the hill and the area is definitely well worth visiting, especially the surrounding gardens. I just don't particularly recommend walking up to the palace - it was horribly, horribly busy when I was there (not even at peak season) and really nothing special up close.
As palaces go I'd recommend nearby Montserrate Palace instead, which is less famous and doesn't get nearly as many visitors. It's incredibly beautiful and serene, which makes for a far more romantic and relaxed experience.
Pena Palace in Sintra was really all about the king's ego! Quite fascinating place to visit!

what i like about this show is that every part of europe have been visit from hungary to the mediterranean, to portugal. theyspeak about history from the moorish invations to spain, the philosophy of ancient Greece. I mean is brief.
