@@josephl3602they promise, but they haven’t had a track record to live by this. I had a tab s3 back in the day which was an awesome little tablet. Got updates to Android 9 and I think it shipped with 7. The iPad Pro came out sometime earlier and is still getting OS updates (with some features missing). My iPhone 5s I use as an iPod for my walks when I don’t want to be bothered still gets security updates. And it’s 10 years old now. I think we still need time to have people with old android phones sharing stories like this. The Android ecosystem is less fragmented now though, with less screen options than before, and most phones using snap dragon chips. So moving forward it should be easier to update. Of all the Android guys Samsung has the better reputation for updates when it comes to their flagships, which this is. Lower end though?
@@x2mausandepends how you use it, and the apps you rely on. I really like the tab s series, but there are some apps I use I can only do on an iPad. Mostly drawing and animation related. Most of the stuff the tab wants to stand out with, it’s actually better to just get a windows tablet at that point.
CODM doesn't need to be white listed. It already supported 90 fps in Ultra just like the Tab S8. Runs the same resolution as the Tab S8 too. I have an upload from Aug 8th showing this. If you had something plugged into the USB-C when testing Ultra it would cap the refresh to 60Hz.

@@AIP404not exactly the same, the soc on Tab s9 ultra is SD 8 Gen 2 for samsung which is a huge jump from the 8 Gen 1 on Tab S8 ultra. The GPU on the 8 Gen 2 scores similar to the scores of RTX 1060 in performance and has way better battery management than 8 Gen 1 plus the 8 Gen 2 supports native ray tracing.
@AIP404 I have both s8 ultra and s9 ultra. The ONLY real noticeable difference as far as performance that i can see is better performance when gaming on my ps2 emulator lol. I can run a game I couldn't previously on s8 ultra. The snapdragon 8 gen 2 is killer.

Once I had a dream of having samsung dex as my main and only pc but I got a mid low range desktop pc with an rtx 2060 and i5 10400 and 16gb ram and even if I had money to spend (which I dont) I couldnt justify buying the tab s9. But really like the idea hence why I watched the whole video :D

Android isn't great for desktop use, and DeX's 'desktop experience' only adds window resizing and a taskbar to a glorified Android tablet experience; a lot of which actually comes down to how apps behave, some don't scale properly to these sizes, some don't want non-native resolutions via window resizing and break themselves, the stock browser still has yet to support extensions, and certain websites will see mobile hardware and refuse to give the proper desktop site, though a lot of this is just lazy devs in all honesty. Then on the desktop side, Windows on ARM really isn't competent enough to compete, and I'm not sure if we'll ever see proper Linux distros for these devices. Apple is the only one to somewhat bridge the gap and they're now monopolizing the ARM PC space, and seemingly will for some time, though they still have yet to offer a hybrid of the MacBook and iPad Pro as an art-focused tablet PC with a typical PC aspect ratio, but they'll never do this because they want more money out of their cult following; the desktop and mobile sides of the industry aren't pushing for desktop on ARM, and now Apple is multiple generations ahead with a decent mobile-desktop ecosystem, though a mobile-desktop hybrid OS would be great for tablets. Another aspect that Apple has a massive lead on is being able to run x86 applications on ARM, and again it's a multi-generational lead; I wouldn't be surprised if M5 chips release before there's any real competition, and we'll be well past that point by time the competition is competent.

Microsoft will have to do some thinking. Will it support Office for Android at the same level of functionality as for Windows or MacOS? Because on a device this powerful, it's getting very close to being a laptop substitute and that undercuts Windows.
I believe the new snapdragon chip that's in This supports ray tracing . So it would be interesting to see that in action if future mark or somebody comes out with a ray tracing demo Or maybe any big android games end up including ray tracing down the line

I don't understand what you're saying? You can run web browsers in desktop mode on Android. There are arguably far more features and better app compatibility running Android (yes, some devs limit which Android apps you can run on ChromeOS).
you need a USB C monitor to run Dex at 4k. Also even if you use a 65w charger or higher, it won't charge at 45w if it does not support PPS charging, For instance here you are not charging at 45w since it gave you a green color instead of blue when plugged in
For processor that is top of the line and decice supposed to be productivity, the maximum ram is not even half of what that 8gen2 can have like OnePlus Ace 2 Pro😊
I wonder if you have got into the Good Lock settings related to Dex. I have a S20FE and I turn on the option for _High resolutions for external display_ and the _Run many apps at same time_ and my experience was so much better. My SD865 is not as powerfull as this SD8G2 but after tweaking this settings it was running much more fluidly, and I don't even know why. I thought it was something from my mind but after updating the phone one time with Dex on if restarted slower again and my phone was getting really hot with a TH-cam video. Then I restarted the phone and it was fine again, running 4k60fps videos chelling. My monitor is 144hz and with these setting off it runs at 60hz, with on runs at 72hz. Don't even know if it's a bug with my phone, but the performance was awful out of the box and was getting really hot really fast.

Don't think so. But there could definitely be one, Qualcomm just needs to make one, and they seem to be always more interested in selling chips than developing and supporting entire products (e.g.: Zeebo, lol)
Well Microsoft has tried to make a thing with Qualcomm, but no one is porting apps to it, so it runs crap. The surface pro X was praised for it’s looks and trashed for its performance. Even 16gb of RAM didn’t help it. Probably closest example we have to what you are talking about is apple M series of computers. Mac Mini seems pretty cool.

8 gen 2 is super good chip that make me want to change my ipad mini 6 to tab s9 , and my 8bitdo ultimate bluetooth can connect to android by 2.4ghz dongle. Bluetooth is quiet latecy for fps games.

Tab s9 is great for heavy games like cod mobile, genshin and many others. But the tab s8 is definitely still a great option if you can get it for a deal!
You can unlock 4K with the GoodLock app. That's a Samsung app that helps unlock additional features of the device that you can opt into along with just additional enhanced features that can be utilized and finally it offers more customization options not available on the default. Otherwise, it is around 1440p.

Hey everyone! When i plug in my tab s9 to a monitor for some reason it only mirrors my tablet screen. Is there any way to extended the screen like the example in this video? Did this feature get removed or am i doing something wrong?
My issue with DeX is that it's still just a glorified tablet environment, the only 'desktop experience' is the fact that you can resize windows and the taskbar, otherwise every app is running like it otherwise would on a tablet. My number one issue is this is the disparity of desktop and mobile builds of virtually all apps, such as not all browsers having extension capabilities, and the workaround browsers often break because certain websites will forcibly load mobile variants no matter what; I've had this specific issue with services that're mostly app-based, such as Spotify, where it sees that your device is a mobile device and will not load the desktop browser site properly, even under DeX. If only we could have a competent build of Windows on ARM already. This tablet is great, if you want to be stuck in the Android ecosystem, but this kind of tablet as a PC would be even better; the Tab S9 Ultra is a decent size, the display is amazing, it'd work well with a typecover, and it provides damn near everything someone would want on a PC tablet, except the 'PC' part is missing. And of course on the PC side, what do we have besides the Surface tablet, not much until you get into laptops, and even then a lot of them aren't properly catered towards the art side of buying a tablet like this or the iPad Pro; and buying both is such a money pit given that you're effectively doubling your device costs just to have the tablet within an ecosystem you want, which ends up being a solution of a paid app and dev menu to use the tablet as a second display. Having Windows on ARM be competent and running on a tablet like this makes the most sense for an actual desktop tablet. Which Android is fine, until you get to the part where certain apps stop scaling correctly, where you don't have a proper out of the box browser experience, etc., and that's not even getting into the 'desktop experience' side of things. Maybe an Android-Windows(on ARM) hybrid makes some amount of sense in some cases, a good mobile experience and a good desktop experience. But with a tablet like this, especially at the size of the Ultra model, a full desktop environment makes more sense than Android does. And sadly there's not many alternatives on the OS side, ChromeOS is dogshit as always, a more common Linux distro with proper x86 emulation might be viable but we all know how much of a ballache that'll end up being, Windows on ARM really isn't competent yet, and even if it were we don't really have the tools that Apple currently has for running x86 on ARM; of which, Apple is pretty far ahead now on the whole ARM PC thing aren't they, who would've thought they would monopolize a space in the industry because the rest of the industry is too busy with their thumbs up their asses, and for example we all know the gap between iPad and MacBook can be bridged where a tablet PC of the proper aspect ratio and with all the artistic tools could exist quite easily.
The 'PC' part is missing because it's not a PC lol; It's an ARM based android tablet and that's what you should expect before buying. DeX is not a Windows machine replacement
Download speeds are faster, it can handle emulation st 60 fps, upscale to 8x native resolution, drag and drop files with the new update, new update also includes nee video editing features, etc all in a phone.....
only if microsoft and some other developers would develop android side more we could have shift to android ecosystem sooner as android apps especially for customisation are convinient to share and pack
I have an S9+ tablet and my external monitor is a Samsung 27" monitor but with HDMI cable not Type C... Will I be able to use a Type C hub to connect the HDMI cable to that USB hub and connect it to my S9+ tablet and have 2 independent monitor view just like what you have demo in this video? Because I did just that, and it only mirrors my tablet screen, I cannot make the bigger external monitor mimic what you have in this video you've posted... any solutions how I can fix this problem?
I figured it out. After the update there is the new dex mode. Just go to dex settings and pick classic mode. There is a setting for external display and you can extend the screen or mimic
I have Tab s8 ultra and Tab s9 ultra. Dolphin runs perfectly on both. But for Aether sx2 is it better to use Open GL or Vulcan. Tried Maximo Ghost to glory runs fine Open Gl 3x native resolution.

Dex needs to run something like Chrome OS. Currently its a desktop environment with a mobile browser.

Lumafusion is free with the S9 tablets and preinstalled - should be under the Galaxy folder iirc.

Don't think so. But there could definitely be one, Qualcomm just needs to make one, and they seem to be always more interested in selling chips than developing and supporting entire products (e.g.: Zeebo, lol)
Well Microsoft has tried to make a thing with Qualcomm, but no one is porting apps to it, so it runs crap. The surface pro X was praised for it’s looks and trashed for its performance. Even 16gb of RAM didn’t help it.
Probably closest example we have to what you are talking about is apple M series of computers. Mac Mini seems pretty cool.

If you buy a USB-C monitor, you can use USB-C -> USB-C, otherwise you can use USB-C > HDMI

*Tip - If you plan to connect dex to a 4k display get a 4k compatible adapter otherwise you'll be limited at 1080p
8 gen 2 is super good chip that make me want to change my ipad mini 6 to tab s9 , and my 8bitdo ultimate bluetooth can connect to android by 2.4ghz dongle. Bluetooth is quiet latecy for fps games.
If we are going to use the dex mode to play games, would it be better to use a phone like the S23 or a tablet like the S9?
Does the same apply to the S9 FE?

Tab s9 is great for heavy games like cod mobile, genshin and many others. But the tab s8 is definitely still a great option if you can get it for a deal!

You can unlock 4K with the GoodLock app. That's a Samsung app that helps unlock additional features of the device that you can opt into along with just additional enhanced features that can be utilized and finally it offers more customization options not available on the default. Otherwise, it is around 1440p.

Hey everyone! When i plug in my tab s9 to a monitor for some reason it only mirrors my tablet screen. Is there any way to extended the screen like the example in this video? Did this feature get removed or am i doing something wrong?
My issue with DeX is that it's still just a glorified tablet environment, the only 'desktop experience' is the fact that you can resize windows and the taskbar, otherwise every app is running like it otherwise would on a tablet. My number one issue is this is the disparity of desktop and mobile builds of virtually all apps, such as not all browsers having extension capabilities, and the workaround browsers often break because certain websites will forcibly load mobile variants no matter what; I've had this specific issue with services that're mostly app-based, such as Spotify, where it sees that your device is a mobile device and will not load the desktop browser site properly, even under DeX.
If only we could have a competent build of Windows on ARM already. This tablet is great, if you want to be stuck in the Android ecosystem, but this kind of tablet as a PC would be even better; the Tab S9 Ultra is a decent size, the display is amazing, it'd work well with a typecover, and it provides damn near everything someone would want on a PC tablet, except the 'PC' part is missing. And of course on the PC side, what do we have besides the Surface tablet, not much until you get into laptops, and even then a lot of them aren't properly catered towards the art side of buying a tablet like this or the iPad Pro; and buying both is such a money pit given that you're effectively doubling your device costs just to have the tablet within an ecosystem you want, which ends up being a solution of a paid app and dev menu to use the tablet as a second display. Having Windows on ARM be competent and running on a tablet like this makes the most sense for an actual desktop tablet.
Which Android is fine, until you get to the part where certain apps stop scaling correctly, where you don't have a proper out of the box browser experience, etc., and that's not even getting into the 'desktop experience' side of things. Maybe an Android-Windows(on ARM) hybrid makes some amount of sense in some cases, a good mobile experience and a good desktop experience. But with a tablet like this, especially at the size of the Ultra model, a full desktop environment makes more sense than Android does. And sadly there's not many alternatives on the OS side, ChromeOS is dogshit as always, a more common Linux distro with proper x86 emulation might be viable but we all know how much of a ballache that'll end up being, Windows on ARM really isn't competent yet, and even if it were we don't really have the tools that Apple currently has for running x86 on ARM; of which, Apple is pretty far ahead now on the whole ARM PC thing aren't they, who would've thought they would monopolize a space in the industry because the rest of the industry is too busy with their thumbs up their asses, and for example we all know the gap between iPad and MacBook can be bridged where a tablet PC of the proper aspect ratio and with all the artistic tools could exist quite easily.
The 'PC' part is missing because it's not a PC lol; It's an ARM based android tablet and that's what you should expect before buying. DeX is not a Windows machine replacement
Download speeds are faster, it can handle emulation st 60 fps, upscale to 8x native resolution, drag and drop files with the new update, new update also includes nee video editing features, etc all in a phone.....
I like to see Winlator and Yuzu emulating games on this model tablet.

I have an S9+ tablet and my external monitor is a Samsung 27" monitor but with HDMI cable not Type C... Will I be able to use a Type C hub to connect the HDMI cable to that USB hub and connect it to my S9+ tablet and have 2 independent monitor view just like what you have demo in this video? Because I did just that, and it only mirrors my tablet screen, I cannot make the bigger external monitor mimic what you have in this video you've posted... any solutions how I can fix this problem?

I figured it out. After the update there is the new dex mode. Just go to dex settings and pick classic mode. There is a setting for external display and you can extend the screen or mimic

I have Tab s8 ultra and Tab s9 ultra. Dolphin runs perfectly on both. But for Aether sx2 is it better to use Open GL or Vulcan. Tried Maximo Ghost to glory runs fine Open Gl 3x native resolution.
