  • Join John Robert as he hits the trails again! This time with the all new Trail Finder 3 from RCWD.
    Its stock for now, but will it stay that way?
    What do you think he will upgrade first?
    Is this rig fully capable out of the box, or does it need the Homes touch?
    And what about that paint, it looks so amazing, hope JR doesnt scratch it on the rocks.
    Goin on a trail ride........

    Now that would be perfect for the v2 cm and that 380 revolver

      Ohh, the v2 would probably be great and possibly not break parts.

    Neat little truck. I really appreciate my 1.55 trail/crawler rigs after ripping through with “cheater” tires and big power. Sometimes it’s nice to be forced to really pay attention to your line and plan five or more obstacles ahead. Give the feel of really taking your full size baby out.

    After using ur motors, I am proudly a motor snob too…. I just bought ur torque master expert 550 21t for my new build. So I can’t wait to try it out! My other truck has the trail master 550 21t in it. Amazing performance….

    Actually crawled the rocks better than I thought it would. Looks great, but as is just a decent trail truck. Put your electronics in, and better, bigger tires I think you’ll have something.

    Honestly...a 1400 Revolver is perfect for a 2-speed Trailfinder....or a 1450 Classic.

    How many tooth pinion come on that truck? I think RC4WD motors are some of the worst Even though most of their products are top notch. Mine had a 14T pinion I switched it to a 9t that changed it a lot. I got a feeling that motor won't begin it long for you. Lol
    That being said that I'm a real big fan of your product. The brushless servo is the best I've used by far and obviously the motors are perfect. I honestly don't see how a product is good as even the trailmaster 27t can be as cheap as it is. I put one in my redcat gen8 V-2 for for $17 it was the best investment & upgrade I could have ever done on that truck along with a hobby wing 1080 esc. I have a small TH-cam channel and I have definitely been bragging on your product. I know you have many people that do so but that's because it is quality product. So thank you and keep it coming.

      I have the original trailfinder 1 and the Trailfinder 2 and I use different rigs for rock crawling. The trailfinders make great trail trucks that look very scale doing their thing but as rock crawlers, not so much.

    Hey john, check out A&M garage. They have high clearance bumpers, skid plates and other performance parts for the tf2, they said they are working on tf3 versions currently. I have my tf2 decked out in A&M parts and they make a big difference in the performance of these leafers. Also, remove the smallest leaf on all four corners, install 90mm shocks with no springs inside the housing to increase suspension flex. We use z-box's and revolver shackles on the tf2, they may fit the the tf3 also.

    Hey John, quite surprised how fast it is in first gear with the smaller tires. Been running nickles in my rigs, they seam to last as long as the lipos on a charge. I guess that might explain my slower wheel speed. I seam to be getting around 4 half hour drives out of one charge without disconnecting the battery, just switching it off. And nobody believes it.

    I sorta want one of these. Lol I may get the tf2 if the price drops. I’m cheap what can I say. I like this rig a lot. Guess I need to get some of your motors for my rigs. I’m giving up brushless and seems your brushed motors are the top performers!

    Crawled very well. But looking at how the suspension sags and moves, it's like every leaf sprung ring I've seen - way too over sprung for my tastes (and what keeps me away from leaf sprung trucks). Love to see what it'll do with one of your comparable ("mild") sweet and butter smooth motors.

    So far, all my crawling experience is with the SCX24. But I really want to step up to 1/10. And I think I want a leaf spring truck. So I guess it's either a TF2/3 or an SCX10 with a leaf conversion.
    Why would you keep it brushed? Brushless too powerful?

    • @johnrobholmes
      @johnrobholmes 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, brushless will break it unless I'm careful. Maybe crawlmaster since it has a pretty low inertia rotor.

    Any ideas when your purple or green special edition servos might be back in stock or the 650? Stock servo in my trx 4 kit went out so went with a NSDRC servo - but I still need one more and want to try yours! Planning on some of your brushed motors when the Traxxas ones give out too! Thanks for the content!

    • @HolmesHobbies

      colored ones will be back in stock in about a week or two. 650 will be a few months, we have to work it back into the rotation of manufacture with some changes

    • @brandonbrown3600
      @brandonbrown3600 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 21T trailmaster motor holmes has is perfect for the TRX IMHO. It's what I use in mine and even on the stock ESC it worked great but with the hobbywing 1080 it's even better.
      Stick traxxas motors wpuld only last 1 or 2 runs for me and need swapped. I have well over 20 runs on my trail master in water, mud, rocks etc with 0 issues. Running 3S with each run about an hour long. I plan to pick up 3 more. 1 for a spare and 1 each for my kids redcats.

    Hey bud I'm building a mc31 rambler crawler that I got completely screwed over on. I decided to get the torquemaster pro 550 27t motor but I've ran into a speed bump on you're site and would rather come straight to the source. I want to do low speed technical crawling with my rig I have a 2 speed so wheel speed is not a issue. What would be you're best motor under 100$ that will give me plenty of torque without over loading the motor and spinning the tires. Also what is better for what I'm wanting to do 0° of timing or 12° sorry if you have a video explaining all this

    • @HolmesHobbies
      @HolmesHobbies  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That would be a good choice. Or go cheaper and try a trailmaster 21t 550 first to see how you like the speed. 12 degrees timing is great for all around use
