Thank you for the clear and well thought out video. Too many comparison videos ramble on and on about unrelated things. Thank you for focusing on the actual title of this video. Quite helpful for a Love Bird person like myself. I don't know much about other pet birds and this was helpful for me.
ElleAndTheBirds I just wanted to say that as a person with asthma and a cockatiel, the “bird dandruff” doesn’t seem to bother too much, it might bother others but won’t bother everyone :)
Spot on about the conures sound😂my green cheek is all good by himself doing his own thing in his cage but if ya leave him too long he’s gonna make some noise that’s for sure.
I started with a cockatiel (female,Pearl), and several years later added a green cheek. These two are like day and night, Jamie, my cockatiel is the sweetest bird you could ever hope for, she only likes her head and beak petted or rubbed, and really does not like her feet touched. Piper my male greencheek, is a pistol and quite demanding, jealous and wants it to be all about him. Warning, conures can bite you so hard, it will leave a V formation that will take sometime to heal, so keep the Neosporin handy, and watch your lips. Your a great teacher, and a true bird lover. Thank you
I've only ever had budgies, and I can probably see myself sticking with them for life (tiny, full of personality, a good mix between chill and energetic, pleasant voices, not nearly as demanding as a cockatiel, on the odd occasion they bite it feels like a light pinch, they bond to people really well, but are really easy to socialise even later in life, easy to entertain... the list goes on) but I'd love to try a bigger bird some time, when I can afford one. I personally have a love/hate relationship with every cockatiel I've ever met, as you said, they're super demanding little buggers haha, very very self-centred. I think I need to meet a few conures, see what I think, because you were describing a similar personality (yes, as you said, individuals vary, but still). Parrots are high-energy as a rule, even a low-energy parrot like a tiel is still more than most non-bird people expect, so a high-energy parrot like a conure would be a very different experience by the sound of things! (budgies are high energy, but only in short bursts, they chill for half the day then go on naughty rampages in the morning and evening). It was really really helpful to hear you describe their personalities! I'll keep doing research over the next few years, and who knows, maybe one day I'll pick up a conure ;) Or maybe I'll just stick with budgies haha
I got a conure a couple days ago and she warmed up to me very easily. I would also research which conure type you get as well. I got a very very quiet kind of conure and it stays true lol. I got a crimson bellied conure btw. Edit: she’s also warming up to getting pets :>
Thank you for all your help and cockatiel videos I’m so happy to say we have found a little female cockatiel in my area and I’m so exited to post a video about her soon :) but sadly she is not weaned yet so I have to wait to bring her home . P.s. she is hand fed and super friendly! I’m in love with her ! Lol
AWWW!!! I have 3 budgies right now and I love birds! I've always wanted a green-cheek conure but they're kinda too expensive for my parents but I'll probably get one when I'm older! Love ur vids!
My green cheek, loves my son and I , but when he gets in trouble, or does something I don't want him to do, I'm the only one he steps up for. My son has cockatiels, they tolerate me, lol. My green cheek is a snuggler. All our birds are pretty mellow, and pretty quiet. Our cockatiels had two babies, they are the hooligans! Just found your TH-cam channel. I love it. You do a great job! Your birds are so wonderful.
I have two green cheeks, and two sun conures, and your description of conure personalities is spot on. I've also noticed a big difference between Green Cheek behavior and Sun behavior. The best way I can think of to explain it is that Suns are bigger, slower and goofier while Green Cheeks are more high strung. They are both very cuddly though.
Your conure description matches my budgies. He is always I mean always hyper and full of energy and also very very demanding of our attention even though i got him a partner female budgie he still wants my attention for at least half an hour everyday. If I don’t go to him he flies across the rooms to my shoulder.
I've had both and loved them! My green cheek conures are definitely more messy and can be temperamental but are so rewarding in their intelligence and personalities. My old cokatiel was very easy to take care of and was super sweet. I would recommend both!
I have both. Win win :) Conure (Now she is 6 years old) came to me as unwanted pet and I'm so grateful, she isn't cudly, but she's friendly and funny, she doesn't like hats and big colorful things so she scream everytime we have something on head :D and cockatiel (now 7) is my sweetheart, she's so calm and cudly. I love them sooo much :) They're listening your video and they say hello :D
I think a budgie is a right type for me. I been have budgies for 7 years since I was 8 . I had simba (my conure) but he passed away 😢 but I was a good counre owner tho.
I've been watching so many videos about birds, especially teils. I've always had this love and fascination with birds even though i never knew anyone with birds or had one. I've grown up with cats and currently still have 2, which is unfortunate because even if i saved my money i cant buy a bird because of how stressful it would be for both the bird and my extreme hunter of a cat. I can't wait to have my own place to stay so i can finally get one after wanting one almost my whole life
This video was very helpful, thank you! I was considering a conure over a cockatiel because of their attachment and intelligence, but now I realize they might not be the best choice for my lifestyle. I wouldn’t be able to give the bird constant attention , and I wouldn’t want to neglect it.
My cockatiel was so awesome anytime I left the room she would yell very loud for 10 minutes and would always want to be on me she died at 9 months old of a heart attack R.I.P nala 🤧
I’ve been thinking about getting a cockatiel, as they seem like an amazing bird choice for me, but my mom has terrible asthma and I really don’t want to risk anything, because of the bird dust but maybe someday. For now I’ll just relax with my budgies :3
What an excellent video young lady. You're spot on with what you say too. I had a cockatiel many years ago and it was a loveable little thing as you say. I now have a green cheek conure and what a difference 😊 he's into everything 🙄 I'm home alone all day these days and he's a fantastic little companion 😀 he certainly keeps me busy. Never having had a conure before I learnt quite a lot about him from you. I'm looking forward to your next video. A huge thank you from the UK 😁😘👍
You are a very informative young lady! Thank you for your channel. I have enjoyed watching this video and I will be looking at more if them. I appreciate your knowledge! Thanks again!!!
My first bird at the age of 9 was a Cockatiel, and they are among my fave species and get my vote, absolutely. I have a theory, and would love to see what others think of it's veracity: It seems like to me that those who have a preference for Macaws over Cockatoos also may favor Conures over Cockatiels. Our flock includes at least one of each, so I'll admit that my personal feelings about the relative similarity among the personalities of conures and macaws, and 'toos and 'tiels respectively, are such that many conure lovers also prefer macaws. Of course, I haven't done serious study, but in talking with other bird people, it seems there may be something to it. (disclaimer: My daughter's got a female GCC, my son has a female 'tiel & a female blue throated macaw. I have cockatoos- a male Goffin's and a female umbrella.) Anyone agree? Disagree?
I've been lucky to have a pineapple conure who doesn't scream (i've only heard her do it twice, otherwise she does her flock call) and who isn't constantly chewing everything in sight! She mostly prefers to sit on my knee or arm while I'm writing and take a nap or get cuddles. Pikachu is very sweet!
I've discovered the right bird for ke is neither (although I do love them both). I'm allergic to tiel dust, and I was a little intimidated by conures (first time bird owner here). After a ton of research, talking to other bird people, and self-reflection, I decided on a lovebird and HE IS MY PERFECTION! He even shows conure behavior like snuggling against my neck to nap!
Thanks a bunch for this video! I've been trying to decide what kind of bird I want once I have my own place, and I think I'm definitely going to get a cockatiel!
Hi, I have a green cheek and I have the same play gym as you! Guess we know how to make our birds happy!lol I also diid not put those big metal things around the bottom, it's nicer without it.
Our Green cheek picked my wife, he loooooves her. He likes me ok, too, but I'm the one that gets the bites, and he bites HARD. I'm a dude, I have rough skin and rough hands, but he breaks that skin no problem and draws blood. Your video is great, and people really aught to do their homework before making such a big decision. Our guy will be with us for 25 years or longer, if we're lucky, so it's a big commitment. It's important to know what one is getting into. I do love our conure, and I certainly love my wife - he makes her SUPER happy. He was my idea!
i got a 7 month old patagonian conure 2 weeks ago and he does like to bite alot and it does hurt but he is also very cuddly sometimes [also agressive sometimes] i do reccommend getting a patagonian conure but be careful of those bites and read they're body language very carefully

I got my half moon conure (16 years) as a rescue so she was very insecure and fearful. I have only had her 6 months and she has truly settled but she developed an extreme bond with me. She is very quiet as long as I’m near her but if I leave the room she calls loudly. I think over time she will be less clinging. She is a joy, wonderful personality.
Thank you for your bird assessment!!! I was deciding between a conure and a cockatiel...and now I know I made the right choice by choosing the cockatiel! He's still being handfed at the breeder, but I just didn't know if I made the right choice. Watching your video was very helpful, therefore I've liked and subscribed. Thank you, again!
My conure Mango definitely is mischievous. Mine will eat my homework and fly up in my tree in the backyard and doesn’t like to get down. And my conure will get jealous when other birds are even NEAR me
I was thinking about getting either one. I’ve done so much research on both of these birds and listening to all different pros and cons helps me out. 😊I’ve decided to go with a cockatiel I’ve decided to go with Japanese names also lol it’s gonna be moon for gray or sun for yellow(translated of course )
@@ElleAndTheBirds I decided on a cockatiel because 1 I'm in an apartment so quiet is very important 2 I need a family pet, one good with kids and 3 I don't think I have enough time in the day to devote to a conure, and when I do come home I'm ready to relax
@Nope He's doing great! Very friendly and social, even with my 7 year old. Since he was hand fed he already knew how to step up. He loves head scratches and makes crazy weird dinosaur noises that scared me at first but it turns out that's a baby purr lol. He does screech sometimes but overall he's very quiet.
Just put a deposit on a yellow side gcc. Was between that a cocktail and dusky conure. The dusky and gcc were so cuddly. Granted they are only 4 weeks old.

I LOVE your videos. I grew up with cockatiels but I'm gonna get a conure soon & your videos have definitely helped with my research & have made me so excited to get my baby & work on training.
Great job with this video. I have fostered/rescued birds for years, and agree with 95% of your characterization. Conures are wonderful birds, but they are social and do require a lot of attention. They are also quite good at their job of chewing things up, so give them lots of toys, and expect wood furniture and cabinets to be mistaken for chew toys as well. Green Cheeks are relatively quiet while Sun Conures are very loud. The one place I would differ a bit is that not all conures are the same. Green Cheeks are rambunctious, Sun Conures tend to be more varied - my two are older (one is 10+, the other 20+ years old) and they are mostly chill, though again they love to chew on things, so if you don’t give them something to chew on while they are on your shoulder or arm, expect them to make use of your clothing as chew toys, happily shredding shirts, jeans etc to pieces. Great social birds for those with the time to give them lots of love and time.
I have had my conure for 8 years. He used to be increadibly loud at the beginning, but now he is mostly quite. He doesn't even make noice when we leave the room. The only times we hear him is when he is scared ( noices coming from outside) or when it is late morning ( past 11am) and we haven't said hello to him yet. Basically, the loudness can change with age and environment.
This video actually helps a lot because I am about to get my first bird and I wanted a conure. But with the help of this video, a cockatiel is better for me. So thank you a lot
Thank you for this! I now know more about my conure. She's very sassy and loves to bite! But also very social. She loves to attack my ear and it hurts. I'm not familiar with training birds either. It's definitely fun and a learning experiences
Very well informed video! I got an conure half a year ago, and have a cocktiel and an african gray from before. The conure I got was just a baby, and she is mischivious and rebellious, but she is also sweet, social and cuddly too. Tried to have her outsode with the two other birds, but saw quickly that the african Gray and the conure do not go too well with each other as my african gray hates it when other birds flies over him. One day the conure was too quick and she was about to perch on the gray. The gray was flying away to get away, byt the conure was flying after him. Got them seperated quickly though so no harms done. The relationship between the cocktiel and the conure is on an off. They are not allowed togehter withoyt supervision, but my conure is being playful to my cocktiel. The cocktiel is an senior and she is more about the cuddles than playtime. One time my conure was wanting to play tag with my cocktiel and the senior bird that she is, she is not a good pilot anymore. She ended behind some funitures, she was all fine. But my conure was concerned. Once I got my cocktiel from the crash site, the conure went to the old lady and just stood there and did not do a thing. By what I have experienced, Conures are surely the type of bird that is clowns and likes to be mischivious. But they are also great companions when you are socializing them early on. I got my conure when she was only 2 months old. And i must say, other than the few incidents she is going well with the birds I have from before, and the other birds do accept her aswell. Of cause if anyone wants a conure, just read up on them before getting them. The same goes for the cocktiel. Cocktiels are the sassiest birds I have ever come across. And for African grays they are similar to how conures are like, but they are very loveable and is fairly all-people birds. But even they can connect with only one amd tolorade the rest of the family.

At first I wanted a cockatiel but then whe got a conure and he’s perfect
I'm gonna get a Sun Conure, any tips? I'm really nervous lol
I was thinking the same thing and I am deciding on a green cheek conure because of the dander from cockatiel and other reasons. I want an affectionate one, can some of those be cuddly?
@@_royaleruler_5643 I don't know if you still want a reply since it's been a month lol, but I have a turquoise conure and he LOVES to be cuddled; even more so than my dogs
Claire Peterson will they just sit on your shoulder? I play a lot of computer games and I want a bird to just chill with me while I play lol
@@cuozu I wouldnt count on it lol. Mine does sit still on my shoulder a lot but once he decides he wants cuddles or pets he won't stop harassing me until he gets them.
Thank you for the clear and well thought out video. Too many comparison videos ramble on and on about unrelated things. Thank you for focusing on the actual title of this video. Quite helpful for a Love Bird person like myself. I don't know much about other pet birds and this was helpful for me.
I say cockatiel!
They’re just cute lil feather babies
(Thanks for the heart)
I have one
same
I think budgies are better, because the are very gentle and SMALLER than cockatiels.
I have 2 of each!*
i have a cockatiel and she’s literally my pride and joy
aww! I really like this! You should also do one for cockatiels vs budgies and Conures vs Budgies! I would love to see that! :)
Thank you so much! I was planning to do cockatiels vs budgies too, since so many people have both! 😊
@@ElleAndTheBirds Hi can you also do a conure vs budgie?
Can you please do Conure vs Budgie?
ElleAndTheBirds I just wanted to say that as a person with asthma and a cockatiel, the “bird dandruff” doesn’t seem to bother too much, it might bother others but won’t bother everyone :)
“Green cheek conures are very quiet”
*hears mine scream while I am in my yard*
Conure can be very friendly.
Kanye: "Good Morning!"
Aww 🥰
Thank you
I have watched a lot of conure/bird videos and your’s was the most helpful and on point and you are younger than everyone else I have seen. Well done!
I'll keep doing research over the next few years, and who knows, maybe one day I'll pick up a conure ;)
Or maybe I'll just stick with budgies haha
Love budgies! I have three 🥰
Maybe look in to kakariki's!! I find them to be a bit budgie like but bigger and more investigative!!
Whenever my budgies bite, it HURTS
Id recommend an amazon, as the other bigger bird species are much more demanding

Lol
That’s so exciting!! I can’t wait to see her!
AWWW!!! I have 3 budgies right now and I love birds! I've always wanted a green-cheek conure but they're kinda too expensive for my parents but I'll probably get one when I'm older! Love ur vids!
Team conures! (Because of my allergies to dust mites.)
team conures... because they are more beautiful and colorful

I'm stuck between them both! I hate noise, but i love playful pets! And I've always wanted a sun conure
I have one green cheek conure, just like you said he's cuddly and demanding.
Duskies are my favorite conure. They are like the golden retreiver of the birb world
As someone that has owned both, this girl knows her stuff!

Do your conures bite much?
@@CrystalWolf-oi1nm they used to, bit we trained them not to!
@@lauradavis6066 Oh, thats good!
Budgies are amazing too! Haha we’re both 15 😂 I got my first budgie 6 years ago when I was 9. So sorry about Simba 😢

Your adventure playground setup looks awesome!
Helpful info thankyou
I’ve always wanted a cockatiel, and this video proved that they’re right for me! Thank you so much!😅
I've been watching so many videos about birds, especially teils. I've always had this love and fascination with birds even though i never knew anyone with birds or had one. I've grown up with cats and currently still have 2, which is unfortunate because even if i saved my money i cant buy a bird because of how stressful it would be for both the bird and my extreme hunter of a cat. I can't wait to have my own place to stay so i can finally get one after wanting one almost my whole life
I got lucky with my green cheek, he just sits on my shoulder all day and cuddles my face 💕
very informative girlie thank you:) i just started working at my local bird store again and needed to brush up on my bird knowledge
This video was very helpful, thank you! I was considering a conure over a cockatiel because of their attachment and intelligence, but now I realize they might not be the best choice for my lifestyle. I wouldn’t be able to give the bird constant attention , and I wouldn’t want to neglect it.
My cockatiel was so awesome anytime I left the room she would yell very loud for 10 minutes and would always want to be on me she died at 9 months old of a heart attack
R.I.P nala

You really have a great connection with your birds. That is really awesome. I like the cockatiel i think. Great job.
Thank you so much!! Birds are my passion. I’ve had them for almost 6 years. Cockatiels are awesome birds!
I’ve been thinking about getting a cockatiel, as they seem like an amazing bird choice for me, but my mom has terrible asthma and I really don’t want to risk anything, because of the bird dust but maybe someday.
For now I’ll just relax with my budgies :3
This is spot on.
I’m a GCC Breeder and have a pet GCC and a cockatiel who share a cage. Conure is very jealous of the cockatiel hahaha
not the smartest to have a shared cage. like she said, the conure can bite the cockatiel and it has basically no self-defense
Can you do a video explaining what a green cheecked conure? And what do you think about putting vitamin drops in fozzies water?

I have cockatoos- a male Goffin's and a female umbrella.)
Anyone agree? Disagree?
I like conures , I have a green cheeked conure named Sorbet, She is learning how to talk rig how!
You explained everything so well thank you so much
I've discovered the right bird for ke is neither (although I do love them both).
Aww!! I’m so glad you found your perfect bird, your lovebird sounds adorable!!
Thanks a bunch for this video! I've been trying to decide what kind of bird I want once I have my own place, and I think I'm definitely going to get a cockatiel!
I just got one he is 11 weeks old.. let me say I am in love!!! So I do recommend cockatiels!!
Hi, I have a green cheek and I have the same play gym as you! Guess we know how to make our birds happy!lol I also diid not put those big metal things around the bottom, it's nicer without it.
How awesome!! It really is a great stand 💚
Hi, this is a guy with a Conure and all I have to say is that I love them so much!!

Hello Elle, thanks to your help as well as theParrotTeacher here on youtube me and my life partner are the proud parents of a sun conure named Tequila and a grey/yellow faced red cheek cockatiel names Kiwi. Our flock is 4 members strong and we continue to watch your lovely videos for advice 😊

If you bathe your cockatiel often, that helps a lot and takes off the dander. Your allergies won't act up much.
I’m getting a cockatiel tomorrow I’m so excited this video actually really helped because I probably won’t get a conure because I am sensitive
Thank you this helps so much in my decision!!
Yay!! Which one did you decide on?
@@ElleAndTheBirds I decided on a cockatiel because
1 I'm in an apartment so quiet is very important
2 I need a family pet, one good with kids and
3 I don't think I have enough time in the day to devote to a conure, and when I do come home I'm ready to relax
Thank you. This was very well done. I have a green cheek. This added to my understanding of her personality and the character of conures.
In other words... conures seem to have similar traits to a lovebird XD mine’s a lot of drama and bites
Just put a deposit on a yellow side gcc. Was between that a cocktail and dusky conure. The dusky and gcc were so cuddly. Granted they are only 4 weeks old.
When my green cheek conure is angry he never scream he speak he say « in the cage in the cage » when he’s not happy to be in or he say « you hurt me you hurt me » because he learned when I said you hurt me I was angry so he says this when he’s angry but he never screamed

I though this was just action but its actualy talking and stuff , and it is very very helpful and understanable ..thank you
I have had my conure for 8 years.
너무너무 귀여운 아가들이네요♡♡♡
