- Lets discuss what the behavioural and personality differences are between these two beautiful species. Going through the pro's and con's using my personal experience and examples.
You may have a different experience but in general these are the very similar and common personality traits and behaviours they share.
At the end of the day your bird will still be unique! Think of it like a cultural similarity between species ☺️

I have a blue Quaker his name is grapes. He is extremely well behaved has never bitten me hard. He his extremely gentle. Learnt to talk early at 4 months he learnt to say hi, how are you, hello grapes, I was shocked he learnt this so quickly. I got him at 14 weeks of age but within 2 weeks he learnt to talk. And he spoke so clearly. He is very smart for his age. He now 6 months old and learning more words. He is a social butterfly. Just loves people. He isn’t just attached to the one person which is good. He loves his baths. 😂 such a goofball. My favourite type of bird. He even loves watching your videos and chirps to it.😂
Grapes is such a cute name!!! Im so happy for you grapes sounds like a sweety. Thank you grapes for enjoying our videos 🥹
Wow! You’re so lucky to have it! Very smart bird it’s easy to learn some human words! Wish my handfeed Indian ring neck will be like that same as yours! ❤
just got my two baby sun conures almost a month ago & they are my absolute loves. watched so many of your videos over the years & finally was ready to get them, thank you💖
That makes me so happy to hear! Wish you all the best with them and if you ever need help dont hesitate to reach out 🥰
@@mimisbirdhousemight take you up on that, thank you🥹
I regards to seeds there's a good rule of thumb: if the seed is used to make oil (sunflower, soybean, peanut, etc) you should probably avoid it and only use it as treats.
Huh interesting. Though in general seeds should be treats as they dont provide good nutrients for them :)
My Quaker is not so floofy but she’s getting more words all the time it’s so cute
As someone who is babysat quaker I have one thing to say. They are quite the quirky bird. Their noise can be annoying, but as she even stated, it’s not as loud as some other birds. Also, once you hear the sound of quaker getting annoyed about something, you will never forget it. There are feral colonies in various places in the world Spain.
"Cute gentle babies to little monsters"... lol 😂
Pretty much 😂 its a 50/50 bird 😂
@@mimisbirdhouse 😂
I love watching your vlog! I have 10 canaries and 9 of them are trained - Your vlogs have helped me out sm, There so inspirational. Your so underrated. Xxx
That makes me so happy to hear 🥹
This was really interesting, thank you for sharing! I’ve had a Quaker Parrot for eighteen years and I’ve always wondered if sun conures are quieter, guess not 🤣 I love my boy, though. I should get another bird for him as I work a lot, but I’m afraid he’s too attached to me at this point. He’s gotten very used to my night shift routine, though, so there’s that.
Wow 18y thats amazing!
Oh yeah my sun is starting to leave hearing damage 😂
I adore my Quaker Boba, he’s a momma’s “chonkey” boy! I’m obsessed 😍
They are SOOOO chonky 😂
love bird !
OMG my cockatiel gets soooo jealous when I’m on the phone😭
My sun hates the phone and my quaker has to talk over me 😂
I have a Quaker parrot 🦜 his name is Casper and he's 8 years old. Best pet ever ❤️
💖🐦❣️
I miss my Quaker Parrot Nikki who passed away at 19 years old last May. Now it’s just Sunny and me. She will be 20 years old next month. We are much closer now. Nikki was my first bird and Sunny’s bestie. I had Nikki since she was 11 weeks old. I had Sunny since she was 13 months old.
Nikki had a big personality and could speak well. We were super close. I was definitely her favorite human.
Sunny is more cuddly, sweet and a big eater. She can say hello but it’s not clear. She makes kiss sounds all the time. I am fortunate because she does chirp a lot, which she probably picked up from Nikki. She also is not loud unless the environment gets very loud or she sees you vacuuming. She likes everyone, but you are right about when a Sun Conure bite. Those beaks pack a big punch.
Im so sorry about Nikki 😔 sounds like you took wonderful care of them, and Sunny sounds well cared for too. I wish you guys the best together and just know Nikki is grateful for the love and wonderful life they received with you 🥺
my quigley is a little stinker quaker, bitey one second sweet as can be the next. gotta Love him though.
Both seem like a lot of work!
They are 😮💨 very worth it but there never a rest day with them 😂
I don't know why but i love when birds yawn and sit with one leg 🥹 mango was looking so cute ❤
I can say most of things about sun conure can be apply to green cheeks too 😅 cuz at least mine does the same, they like warmth from me, they cuddly, they play arm wrestling, they bite hard.
And they get lonely too, i had a paper yesterday so i leave them in my mom's care and my mom sit in their room entire time but still they didn't eat much until i came 🥺 i don't go outside and stay with them all time so whenever i have to go they get lonely.
But you know what's the best part they recognize me in video call and start chirping and when i came home they fly to me chirping and screaming like they are telling me where did you go why did you take so much time😅 i have 3 more papers 🥲
There are definitely similarities and there are some differences between conure species 😝
Awwww poor baby 🥺 i always feel horrible when I have to leave and i come back and they do that where they are like where did you go dont leave me 😭 wish I could take them everywhere all the time
@@mimisbirdhouse yeah same i also want to take them everywhere but i can't for my exam, well i do take them out when we go outside but only if there eating will not be disturbed otherwise i will not go anywhere if i have to leave them 😊
@@Monart7487 hahaha id love to EVEN take mine to exams but honestly they would probably start blabbing and Luza start singing la cucaracha 😂
@@mimisbirdhouse hahah i can totally imagine that 🤣 my Peach will bite the teacher if they come to check my documents 😅 she is so protective for me and my things 🤭
@@Monart7487 ahahaha thats so cute though! The teacher and rip the paper 😂
Great video as always. I also wanted to ask you, how do you handle your parrots when you are sick ? Since it bothers me that Bruno is sitting in the cage when I am sick, but at the same time I don't want him to get anything from me - I've heard tons of different things about birds and human flu for example.
Birds cant get covid or the common cold or the flu. Their immune system works differently than ours ☺️ I always handle them when sick ☺️ Now if it were tuberculosis i wouldnt handle them
@@mimisbirdhouse Thanks for clarification :D I knew they can't get covid but wasn't sure about a flu
@@Nika44 no worries ☺️
My Quaker parrot is about 7 months old . I have been trying to introduce her to toys but she’s so afraid of things. Even when I slowly introduce her . She doesn’t even play with anything I her cage. Is there a certain age that they become interested? She is very good with my husband and me. She just started flying off her cage and coming to us which before we had a hard time getting her off the cage. We really aren’t sure if she is a female or a male. We love watching your videos and thank you for all the information that you have given us.
Quakers are not great at being independent and playing with toys they would rather be clung to us 😂

I have a red capped Kakariki and considering buying another bird. I love quaker parrots but not sure if it would get along with Kiwi she's very quiet.
Kakariki are a little more on the calmer side. A quaker might be a little intense for them.
Id look into cockatiels or conures. Quaker parrots might end up bullying the kakariki
I love them both I have 1 sun conure and 11 quakers😅 6 of them didn’t hatch yet and 5 are adults.
Oh my goodness 😱 that 1 sun conure 😅 How do they feel about all the quakers?
@@mimisbirdhouseoh I love them so much even I have a sweet quaker pair that would let me pet their babies in there nest in front of them I even pet the mom sometimes I wish I could show you how sweet they are.
I just got our sun conure 5 months ago at Petco and it was so much fun to live with.Yesterday it had a seizure and died.We want to get another one or a Quaker now. What bird do you enjoy more?
Im sorry to hear about your sun conure, petco is abusive to their animals and dont care for their health.
Personally i love both they offer different personalities so its really up to you if you prefer a cuddly bird who will destroy your ear drums (sun conure) or a funny who will destroy your hands and laugh (quaker) 😂
@@mimisbirdhouse hey Mimi we got another sun conure and a Hahns mini Macaw. The Macaw is 5 years old and talks. She is very interesting. We got her from a rescue in Reno thanks for the advice!!😊
I had a guaker who I found dead one morning he was 5 years old and was very smart and talked. I still miss him very much!
I love sun conure because of its colors and for being sweet and cuddly but as what I heard to others that this bird has a loud vocal! So I avoid it to have one!
You have saved your ear drums from pain 😂
Quakers do like to laugh at you😂😂😂
It makes things so much funnier 😂
9:15 Found this video showing that it is true: th-cam.com/users/shortsYWbWFrQ8tZE?si=OzMsM1ksWdQdGB67 . It makes tem look like evil birds hahaha
Oh my goodness what typical quaker behaviour 😂
Hello! Hope you are doing well, I just wanted to ask if is it worth it getting a bird? I am asking this because I am planning on getting one! The type that I want is a conure🦜❤!
I think thats an individual choice ☺️ for me its worth it, i love my birds they are amazing company and therapy to me and fit my lifestyle. There are A LOT of sacrifices that have to be made though.
Daily cleaning, no aerosols like perfumes/candles/chemical cleaners, no teflon pans. Might be holes in your shirt, cant travel much, gotta spend hours a day with them. At the beginnig u really gotta spend time to bond, gain their trust and be patient as it takes time. Make changes to the house to keep dangerous items away, etc etc etc 😅
