Using natural oils during scalp massages really works in hair fall control. Oils such as coconut, onion, as well as rosemary are particularly good. I combine a few drops of rosemary oil to my liiitlleextra cocooionn shampoo and hair oil set, and this really helped in seeing good hair growth.

The littelllextra cocoonioon oil contains rosemary, coconut, onion, hibiscus, which are known as superfoods for promoting hair growth. I loved the texture of the oil. The smell is subtle and not overwhelming. Overall, it’s a great product and it has reduced my hair fall by more than 75%.

I'm 73, been doing the side part since a co-worker who had training as a hairstylist suggested it. Because I was menopausal & my center part was thinning. Dr. Mary Claire Havers I just wish to GOD there had been a doctor of your sort available in my day. I am sharing your videos with my perimenopausal 43 year old daughter & a 51 year old new friend. You are amazing. My daughter still has hesitating in believing. But my 51 year old is gobbling up every video I send her.

I'm 33 and going through extreme hair loss, you can see my scalp all over. It's traumatizing, especially because my hair was very long, thick, healthy, full & a part of my identity, I LOVED my hair so so so much! My hair was always complemented & admired by people, its like I'm being punished. My hair loss started a year ago, but the last few months it has been just falling out, all day.. Showers are traumatizing, brushing is hell. I'm starting minoxidil tomorrow. I pray it works. I'm tripping so hard. Of all the aesthetic things that could happen to me, this is like taking my favorite part of me away from me.

Yes, see a dermatologist if have not done so. Don't take you are just losing hair due to genetics either. You may be low on something and stressing adds to it. I started losing hair on and off in my early 30's after starting a high stress job. The things that helped was birth control pills(low androgen), becoming pregnant, and minoxidil helped some. I just would notice hair growth with these things. These things, of course, at different times. So androgen has something to do with hair loss also. Every time I have had a stress to by body I would experience hair shed. To add there has been a study on rosemary oil, oregano oil works as well as minoxidil. To add, currently I am using keratin intensive hair drops.

Look into finasteride, my hair was thinning due to menopause, then I was diagnosed with Uterine cancer and went through a radical hysterectomy 9 months ago, I had a huge amount of hair fall out following surgery, I could see my scalp in areas, I started on finasteride 5mgs a day and my hair is very noticeably growing back, I had tried minoxidil and never saw much of a change, it only kept what I had or slowed down the loss, it also irritated my scalp, please talk to your doctor, I have not had any side effects and I am also on a .5 estradiol patch, again talk to your doctor but I have had great results.

I lost my dad in 2020 to Sepsis. Then a few months later in 2022 my husband had another of his many affairs & filed for divorce. Then a few month later my only sibling (brother) six day's after celebrating his 46th birthday, dropped dead of a massive heart attack. He had no children & I have no children. I'm left to care for my only other immediate family member... my 88 year old mother. It's been really hard mentally/emotionally & physically with 3 spinal surgeries & now I'm in Perimenopaus. So, yup, I'm guessing my Dermatologist diagnosed me correctly with mild alopecia. 😫😭💔

My sister was seen by derms etc. Had the T. E. ( Massive hair loss) nobody really pin points the cause. She also lost massive amounts of muscle tine and weight and her skin was sooooo dry. We knew there were some thyroid issues erc.. Minoxidil was recommended but my sister wanted to get to the root of the cause. Pun intended. Finally she asked her doc for HRT. Finally she got the HRT- 6mos skin, health hair and body weight normalized 1 year later almost back to pre menopause (which by the way has been going on for a couple years) she had to demand treatment and of course pay out of pocket. But quality of life is much better. Vitality is back. My poor Sister ❤️we go through so much before we can get the help we need. Then we get hit over the head with having to pay out od pocket. Just a correction, minoxidil does not block DHT. The exact mechanism of minoxidil on inducing hair growth is still being researched and there are different possible mechanisms, but none include blockage of androgen receptors. That is why minoxidil won’t stop the progression of androgenetic alopecia. 🙂

This video is so very helpful and informative! I’ve just in the last couple of months figured out that I am perimenopausal, but over the last year or so I’ve noticed the very same areas you indicated on your own scalp thinning on mine. I’ve tried castor oil to no avail and I have to keep my hair pulled back because I have a baby, and also I’m in Atlanta where it’s WAY to hot to wear my hair down. I am ordering minoxidil posthaste. God bless ya. I love that you teach us the science behind things and assume we’re smart enough to learn the information, which by the way is the same thing I love about the Galveston Diet so far- I feel that learning the science behind what has happened to my poor body will help me make great choices when I’m confronted with cravings or lack of motivation. I searched forever for information about menopause and felt so unprepared, but with your knowledge as a resource I am feeling much better about how to manage this time of my life. Especially because I have very young children and I don’t want to be suffering and temperamental while managing their emotions and development. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. I was so afraid and now I’m not.
Golly that was verbose, sorry doc! Hahaha 😄

I don't know if this is in the comments but she just said fibroids don't affect hair loss but maybe she didn't consider that fibroids can cause your iron to tank and the low iron can cause hair loss. And anybody correct if I'm wrong somehow about that. I had a UFE to get rid of my fibroids 5 yrs ago and it was the best decision ever. But it's possible i could remember wrong. Everyone talks about hot flashes and crankiness, but meanwhile I was suffering crippling anxiety, terrible muscle and joint pain (including a frozen shoulder!), immobilizing sleepiness a d brain fog (to the point of being worried about dementia!), thermoregulatory troubles (terrible chills as well as heat/sweating), incapacitating sleep disturbance, and urinary issues...etc. I had NO idea menopause can cause these things!!!

Hi there, i have thin hair thinning too, and now on perimenopause it's even worst. So, these things are helping me a lot, (it's still falling but no so much, and it's also growing a lot too):
      -Pumpkin seed oil capsules
_Nuts (a handful) daily any,( except peanuts,) and brazil coconuts only take 1 a day, it's packed with selenium but you only need one otherwise your weight will increase.
      _Increase protein intake
      _Good collagen supplement
      _2 litres of water daily
      _No ponytails at all
_Redken champoo (i'm on the freeze free, red one at the moment, but i find them all good), as long as it's not cheap shampoo, the hair needs it now.
_A hair mask with a mixture of avocado oil, almond oil, castor oil, rosemary oil (just 2 drops), olive oil, pure argan oil. I buy these oils separately, 100% pure, only the oil. Make a mixture in a bottle, mostly the almond oil, a quarter of the castor and avocado, it doesn't have to be specific, the important thing is to soak the hair in the oil, i put it in my hands carefully as it's messy and i just apply it as a mask, massage, specially on hair line, I put it up on a bun in the morning and wash it all of in the night shower, just ones a month or so...
_Vitamins : I take vit D2& K2, vit C, magnesium, zinc, ubiquinol, omega3. good quality supplements,( not cheap ones from the market.)
_And topically after every wash i take this serum that it's really magic, I can see baby hairs on top of my hair and my hair line!, it's by Scandinavian Biolabs ( I saw it in an add on youtube), it's not cheap, but it really works, i'm already using a 4th bottle. They do the whole range, but I didn't like the shampoo, only the serum, and it's like water, it won't bother the hair styling.
_I also try to avoid hairdressers as much as i can, as they can be to rough with the hair.
My hair it's very shinny at the moment and i really think all this makes a difference. I used to eat a lot of salmon, tuna, avocadoes and just whole foods, but 3 months ago i went vegan, and i could notice in my hair ( probably not the best time to turn vegan! ).
      _Also no sugar !
      Hope this helps. Regards

I would suggest topical progesterone, saw palmetto and pumpkin seed extract if you don't want to go down the minoxidil route....or add these to the minoxidil. I have lots of little baby hairs now in my temples and all along my hairline. Rosemary essential oil was tested against Minoxidil and did just as well with less side effects.

Shields up as I listen to this and respond to the person who posted the vaccine query. Undoubtedly, the listener values the opinions of Dr. Marie Claire. While off topic to our hair loss dilemma, it was still very pertinent to the time. And while it has been politicized, I was a bit surprised (I say "a bit", because our dear doctor seems to shoot quick and straight from the hip) that her response went there rather than addressing this as a medical issue, which it decidedly is first and foremost. Honestly, she needn't have even responded as it is not the subject being discussed, but she almost seemed to take offense at the question. At the least, she responded in irritation. Her reply was rather party line defense.
I'm a regular listener and supporter of the good doctor, and I have directed numerous friends to her. Just a word of advice. Slow down and remember that we are here out of respect and appreciation for you; I'm sure your intention is to consistently treat us the same. God's peace, and thank you.

This is amazing information. I am 58 and now a Zumba Fitness instructor and on my way to becoming a Personal Trainer. I just went for a haircut the other day and my stylist told me that my hair is thinning out. I am a vegetarian and still eat poultry on the weekends. So I eat lots of veggies, tempeh, tofu and hummus as well as plenty of fruit. I must drink lots of water through out the day too! My own personal trainer told me to drink 1 gallon each day, and that's not so easy because I cannot sleep well. So I drink about 60 oz and maybe 1-2 days per week I drink 100 oz. However, I do take Maca Root Capsules for my hot flashes and feel really good because it balances my hormones too! There is so much to learn! Thanks for all the information!

I suffer from post-menopause AGA. I started with topical minoxidil but it was too cumbersome as my hair texture is extremely layered, curly, and doesn't hold a part. After 9 months I said no more. I switched to a dermatologist who only treats hair patients. I'm taking 5mg/day oral minoxidil + 5mg/day oral finasteride now. It's been a winning combination for me. My hair regrowth has returned to pre-menopause level (when I had no hair loss issues). I am in excellent health and have had no side effects from these medications. YMMV

You look amazing for 53. I will be 52 on August 3, 2022. However, I'm a master Cosmetologist. I don't have a family history of hairloss or alopecia. However, I had a hysterectomy at 49. And my Dr. Left one of ovaries. She did inform me that I would start menopause probably at 50. However, I didn't start menopause until about 4 months before my 51 birth. My breast became very tender and sore. And I do have a thick head of hair. But I notice that my hair was thinning and creating bald spots. I had to be put on hormones. I went to a Dermatologist and she said I had female pattern hairloss.ut it's just around my edges however my family has a history of cowlicks. So their for ask I said early. It's my edges mostly were my cowlicks is and it seems to be trying to spread further into my hair a little. I have finsteride and I take another pill that I can't spell and I'm not near the medication to write it out. But I went to a different and he prescribed me some biest cream and I also take a pill . But I'm sorry I'm not home or near the medication to write it down. I just pray that I see some growth. I was also given a shampoo and tropical solution that is suppose to be a steroid to stop the hairloss. Is minoxidil guaranteed to work?

I had a consultation with a dermatologist a month ago and she just prescripted a shampoo for dandruff. She never bothered explaining anything. I'm not going to waste my money and time.

After 3 months the pharmacy substitute a different brand of bcp’s , now I’m losing hair by the handful. I can see my scalp on both sides where I normally have baby hairs.
I’m not sure which to investigate first …

This is what is happening to Jada Smith and no one is talking about it. She's 50 and it's obvious to me. has anyone else thought this too?
