I'm at the end of several months of telogen effluvium brought on by extreme emotional and mental stress from taking care of my unmedicated 91yo MIL with severe dementia w/severe behavioral disturbance. She is very difficult to deal with. The stress caused me to drop weight, and rapidly, which in turn caused some nutritional deficiencies. It didn't help that many times I was so exhausted by the end of the day that I chose sleep over eating. My blood pressure also dropped very low instead of rising, which would cause me to feel faint and dizzy. My hair is starting to come back but wow. It definitely took a hit.
Hi Dr. Taz! Wonderful of you to share more and more information. Thank you so much. I have a topic of interest. I do understand that everything that is recommended is case by case/customized to each individual patient, but I'll give it a try. What are some safe ways to begin using topical progesterone?
Copper peptides are a great topic! Would you be interested in learning about how to incorporate them into a skincare routine or potential benefits for hair as well?
@@DrTazMD would be very interested in learning how it's used for hair. Copper peptides are something very unfamiliar to me and like many other women, I'm very eager to learn how functional medicine doctors use peptides. Thank you.
Hello, this was so helpful. I was diagnosed with Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia in October of 2023. I have thinning and two bald spots. One bald spot is in the very top and the other is in the crown area.
I am 47 and in premenopause but my hormone panel came back normal. It was my TSH that came in at .19 low which means overactive thyroid. I had sever hair breakage and dryness, my gorgeous long hair is no more.
I'm sorry to hear about your hair changes; that can be so frustrating. Low TSH could indeed contribute to hair issues. Have you spoken with your doctor about thyroid management options?
@@DrTazMD I see both my primary care and GYN in NOV for follow-ups and also keep my board certified dermatologist in the know. The dermatologist gave me oral minoxidil in the meantime, been on it for 4 weeks. At day 5 I had a huge shed and I still have huge sheds every other day when I was my hair. It’s been a nightmare 😩
@@rosamoreno4794 from what I know of minoxidil, it initially causes hair to shed but keeps the hair that is in the growth phase. That's what I recall being told.
My aunt is over 70 .She has a lot of hair and always had a lot of hair. I think we shall look at what we eat, because it influence the body.Eating low fat and no this and no that. Just my opinion.Massaging your scalp or comb it several times a day til you feel warm, helps hair not falling out
Hi Dr. TazMD, I’m 48, my hairs are shredding a lot. I’m so sad. I am so thankful for all interesting information that you shared in this videos. I am going to try those products east west which I never heard before. Thanks so much!
I am not sure which type of hair loss I have. It seems like the chemicals in shampoo because I get a lot of hair loss after washing my hair. While wet no hair fall. But as soon as it dries I get hair loss until the next time I wash my hair.
Hi Dr Taz, My scalp has been burning and tender for 5 years. Recently i found two bald spots in the top right side and middle back. How can i find out how to treat this and what kind of Alopecia is this??I was prescribe Doxycycline for inflammation but Im afraid of the side effects. Thank you.
I think there are some liquid calcium that you can take but make sure you also take I believe magnesium and D2 or is it K2? I forgot, but please do your research before you take anything.
@IVvOOvVI Solgar has a liquid vitamin with all you described in the ingredients; magnesium, vitamin D3 and Calcium..as far as K2 it should be taken with Vitamin D3..Perhaps take a K2 supplement separately with it!
Thank you so much for the information. I just realized that what I have is called Frontal fibrosing alopecia. Do your supplements help with that type of hair loss? Thanks.
I just turn 50 few months back. I have vary health gorgeous hair. And I suddenly start loosing so much hair in last month which I am almost to cry to my hair falling plz what should I do

Diagnosed with Androgenic Alopecia and two MTHFR Gene mutations. Also, my testosterone is very high and no one can tell me why. I was told that I am now in premenopause but I should still be having periods(according to my lab results). They can't seem to figure out what has stopped my periods so abruptly either. I had to start wearing wigs 4 years ago due to the texture n severe thinning. Is it possible to have my own hair again? ~confused
There to wear works it’s just easier to get ready in the morning. I need to do that too because I have white hair and I do lose a lot of hair in the shower, but the white hair I have is on top of my head and on the side, like I have gray on the side and underneath the topcrown I have some gray white hair like sprinkle throughout and I am 47

Thank you so much for a generous amount of information. More doctors need to share selflessly so people who cannot be their patients can still learn.
You're very welcome! Sharing knowledge can make such a difference. Are there any other health topics you’d like to learn more about?
